My parents have been telling me since the last couple of months to start thinking about marriage. According to them, it's a long process that will take quite a lot of time (maybe even years) to find a good match. We have had some arguments regarding this issue because I'm not interested in ending up with someone who was forced into an arranged marriage, which would result in a troubled personal life for the rest of my life. I am someone who doesn't really fit with the new generation trends or beliefs. I am an old-school person who is very much passionate about his interests. I am not afraid of commitments, but having them invested in the wrong place. If I have to find a middle ground, what would my options be? Should I consider matrimony apps like Kerala Matrimony? They are charging quite high fees, and considering that their fees are collected beforehand just for the sake of showing profiles, would it make any sense at all? I would prefer communicating with the girl directly before agreeing to marriage instead of marrying a random stranger based on a parent's suggestion.

I resent my wife and I am really struggling with it. About 5 years ago, I asked her how she would feel about moving 50 miles north to a different part of our metro where more jobs were available in my line of work, and she unequivocally said “no”. She doesn’t want to lose the social circle we’ve built where we live. She works in elementary education, so she can get a job anywhere she wants.
I feel like I’m stuck in a dead end job because she would also not be okay with me have a 2 hour commute, which most of the jobs in my field would require where we currently live. My commute is an hour as it is, and it’s difficult for both of us. The area we live is a small town, mostly blue collar jobs, with almost nothing in finance. On the other side of my metro, several firms have large corporate centers with jobs a plenty, so the opportunities there would be massive.
I love my wife but I don’t know how to overcome these feelings of resentment. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hi. I decided to move in with my boyfriend right after college 1.5 years ago. I was 22 he was 25. I was mentally in a rough place due to grief and a variety of other reasons and probably rushed the decision but it felt right. We were not ready, but have grown a lot over the years and are generally really happy and good for eachother when we are together. Now we are 24 and 27. Even though I love my relationship, I worry if I’ve been led down a path that I don’t want for myself. Back before we moved in, he started developing an alcohol problem and I would beg him to stop drinking as we had a couple scary incidents with him drunk driving after work. One day, one month after our move, he hit a car and left the scene, refused a breathalyzer. He was depressed at the time, I forgave him as long as he learned how lucky he got and learned from his mistakes. I truly believe he did learn from this. His family who typically doesnt help him much had to pay a crazy lawyer fee and his license was revoked for 6 months. Then, his sister was using his old car for about 3-4 months. For nearly the whole year of what was supposed to be our first apt, he was only coming in the weekends and I was all alone during the week. I was having terrible health issues too and dealing with them alone as family is far and friends have all moved from the city I live in recently. Finally, he was fully living at the apartment with me until his final trial, day over 1 yr after the driving incident. Luckily, nothing ended up on his record but he had a 60 day probation. Right before the probation, his very old car broke down. He promised me as soon as his license was reinstated and his record was clean, he was going to have a new car and fully live at our place. I was so excited. It’s been so lonely and I genuinely adore the time we do have. But again, he’s finally started applying to closer jobs he can commute to after 2 years of promising me he would, but not doing it aggressively because his fear and depression gets the best of him. He hates living at his parents but it’s close to his job and the trains from the city the apartment is in would not get him to work on time from here. We were supposed to solve this years ago to minimize his commute but he didn’t apply to a single job during this whole time until recently. Now, his parents (who have never really parented him, guided him, or helped him) just revoked the the offer of helping him buy a new car to get his life on track because they got one for his sister instead. Now we are at square 1 almost 2 years after I first signed this lease. I beg him to take life into his own hands and change it and I believe he wants to and wants a life with me is just in paralysis from anxiety, but I don’t know I can life with it anymore. I am 24 and spending so much time in a situation I didn’t sign up for, so much time alone, and I wonder all the time what I am doing. I adore my city, the apartment, and my boyfriend, and I don’t want to let any of it go. I try so hard to build a life for myself here outside of my relationship because I know how important it is but I’m not super happy with my job and have been through my own personal journey of grief and navigating life in the past few years. I think some alone time was good for me, but now I feel like the empty promises and unknown timeline of my life with this man is just letting me more down than I care to admit. Part of me says it’s no biggie- I get to live in this half paid for beautiful apartment in my favorite city and spend the weekends with him, eventually he’ll be here full time. Who cares? But the other part of me feels led on, lonely, and like I’m being held back from growing, with him or not. ATIAH for always pushing him to do anything he can to get a job here to make sure we can comfortably live here together or should I just mentally detach from this life with him because it’s just not happening and he wastes so much time doing nothing in his extistential dread at his parents house thinking nothing is gonna change for him after one mistake? What do I do???
