Looking at getting a new laptop. I like how upgradeable and quiet (extremely important to me) my T14 is, but the thing gets hot as shit and the battery life sucks.
I've been out of the loop for a little while and see there are these Intel Core Ultra and Ryzen AI laptops. Supposedly, chips capable of AI (don't care about buzzwords) and supposedly more efficient than more performant / less efficient counter parts (Ryzen 9 8xxxHS or something... don't know what Intel has going on).
Couple questions:
- In general, how do these Ultra Core / Ryzen AI chips measure up to their "less efficient" counterparts? Are they really more efficient (i.e., better emissions and battery life)? Is the performance hit that significant?
- How do these measure up to PC laptops with ARM and are these starting to become more prevalent? If so, is the architecture still pretty hit or miss with compatibility even with the x86 compatibility layer?

2025.01.23 00:04 PhilipG_21 Potential Fix to Games Freezing on OPL
If no compatibility mode works then I suggest turning off the PS2 and as soon as you turn it on hold down the R2 Button as the shortcut into OPL, some games run better by using the OPL shortcut upon bootup and I truly don't know why that is.
This method may fix other issues as well, I'm unsure.
In my case it was Max Payne 2 freezing constantly on loading screens.

Hi, posting here because my mom's setup is driving me crazy. She has a TCL tv, with a Samsung soundbar. The soundbar is connected to the TV using the optical input.
We have to keep the TCL sound to 1, else we have no sound. We use the Samsung remote to turn the volume up and down. You can hear the sound coming out of the TV itself (the volume at 1), and it is doubled with the soundbar. Also, the soundbar has a small delay. I can't find any way to tell the TV to only use the soundbar (thus fixing the double sound + delay)?
