I’ve been working on improving my singing recently, but whenever I record myself, the results are always way worse than I expect based on how it feels when I sing. I still feel pretty embarrassed about it, so I haven’t been able to bring myself to get a teacher or ask for direct feedback. One major issue I’ve noticed is that I really struggle with conveying emotion through my voice. Whenever I try to sing songs that require a lot of emotional intensity—like those deep, sad, almost screaming-in-the-car kind of tracks—my voice tends to crack, and I can't seem to maintain control.
I really want to get better, though, and I’m open to honest, constructive criticism. Please, be as critical as you need to be—I promise I won’t take it personally and will use any feedback to improve. I just want to get better at both technique and expressing the emotion behind the music.

It was like, what the hell? The only qualification you needed was being as white as possible. It didn’t matter if you were fit and well-built—if you weren’t white enough, you were out. But if you were pale as hell, even if you looked like a total bum, bam, you’re on stage. It’s so frustrating to think about how messed up that was. I don’t even know if it still happens, but it was so obvious back then.
