So I remember this game I played when I was a kid and you played as these kids (if I’m remembering correctly you could play as different characters but maybe not) who have to sneak around like a house and outside and kill these like green alien glob flubber lookin things to save the world. The cover art kinda looked like these but obviously the main kids being in the foreground. Honestly when I seen the cover art for aliens in the attic I thought that could be it but even tho the gameplay is similar it’s definitely not what I’m thinking of. Idk if anyone will have better luck than me but it’s gnawin on me that I STILL haven’t found anything on this game.

Recently my Tenor glasses no longer charge. When plugged in, the indicator light just blind red/white in a rapid patter. When I reached out to Bose, they said they're out of warranty and recommended I get something else. I LOVE these glasses, but I'm not gonna get their earbuds that make me look like the Jetson's robot. Has anyone been able to repair theirs if you've had this issue? I've searched other threads but I've failed to find a solid answer.

I'm tired, man.
I've been trying to build micro SaaS/startups over the last 4 years.
Most of that has been with me being the tech person (circa 10 years of software engineering).
More recently, it's with me being the non-techie, focusing on finding ideas, interviewing potential customers and selling.
However, every time that I start working with someone (either a friend or someone who I met through YC's Co-founder matching service), after the initial hype of talking/brainstorming the other person ALWAYS, WITHOUT FAIL starts to lose interest and disappear after a month or two.
I'm tired of spending time building relationships with potential co-founders just for them to give up in almost zero time, or maybe they just stop doing what they're meant to do (i.e customer interviews, software dev etc) because they've got other priorities.
I've had ONE good relationship with someone I worked with previously, and we smashed it for 9 months straight before we realised the product was a dead end (not a painful enough problem).
Am I doing something wrong?
Do other people here have this happen to them 9/10 times?
I'm exhausted and its making me want to just do something myself, but I LOVE having that other person working along side me to incentivise me to push harder, to crunch ideas, to lean on each other when times are hard.
I'm tired, man.

2025.01.23 13:24 utopiah Staying cool on the ice during public sessions with very young kids
So... this morning I spend a part of my session gently reminding kids, I'd say around 10yo, that there is in fact a direction to the rink. Some where genuinely surprised, nodded, went the right way. Some... well they were laughing as I told it's the 3rd time I warned them. I went to the teachers too, I pointed at the ambulance outside who was literally bringing one of their friend to the hospital and... quite a few didn't seem to understand.
Anyway, I don't think I'll bother anymore. Maybe I'll have a quota, e.g. 5 warnings to kids, 1 to their teacher then I'm going to the ice rink manager then... for the rest, so be it. If I bump into them going backward because they go the wrong way or cross through without looking, I obviously won't speed up on purpose and will do whatever I can not to endanger any one but ... I also won't spend most of my own time on the ice as an unpaid teacher.
It was honestly sad to see the ambulance and maybe even sadder than, at the end of the sessions, 3 teachers were sitting outside the rink, next to each other, I wave at them that one (they have colored jacket so easy to tell) of their kids felt and was crying... they didn't move. Maybe after a couple of minute they did come.
Today was an hecatomb. I didn't fall despite few close call.
So... beside my long rant, how do YOU keep your cool in such situations?

A nice recruiter on the phone, asking me if I know anything about the game League of Legends, because they have a job offer for me (it's true that I've been looking for a job recently, so my CV and phone number have been leaked to many places) I would have to move to Bulgaria, one of the poorest countries in Europe, and in return they offer me €1330 gross ($1400) monthly salary - yes, deduct about 25% tax from that. For example, the cheapest studio apartment I managed to find there, which is 20m2 of living room-bedroom-kitchen crammed into one room, costs €600 per month (I didn't even bother to check if the bills were included) I don't know how hard I would have to struggle to manage to live there on that salary. If I stayed in Poland and got a job as a cashier in a local supermarket, I would have an incomparably higher standard of living, and let's be honest, Poland is not the richest country in Europe. The second and even funnier thing is to search through my League of Legends messages, seriously? Do you want to check if during the few years of my life when I played LoL, I wished everyone a wonderful day and a healthy family? I have to disappoint you. And of course the icing on the cake is this recruitment process, "write an essay about your favorite video game". I don't know if they are sure if they are hiring a 30 year old man who has many years of experience in the industry, or if they are looking for a 15 year old boy who will work for free, just to brag to his friends that he has something more to do with Riot than just addiction. I've seen more of these offers, Google, Apple, Ubisoft, Airbnb, Amazon, etc. They set up their offices in the poorest countries in Europe to minimize employee costs, they try to lure people from all over Europe with their scam offers, under the guise of an adventure in another country, and they outsource the recruitment process to intermediaries so as not to get their hands dirty. And these are companies that bring in billions of dollars in profits every year, how can we expect any quality of their services if the industry looks like this from the inside? I've wanted to expand my vocabulary for a while, but I was tired of interrupting my reading sessions to google what words mean or write them down to come back to later (which I never do), and I'm too lazy to create my own deck of flashcards.
So I made an app that lets you input words you encounter (e.g. while reading, in conversation) and then quizzes you using example sentences generated from words you've saved. Still not sure if it is something people feel they want/need, but I've been using it quite a bit and a few of my friends have as well.
