2025.01.23 13:26 captainkurz No-win no-fee lawyers not replying on compensation recovery for 6 months+

TL:DR (England) - Won CCJ with compensation against former landlord in Dec 2022, lawyers trying to recover via charging order but not replying to us for 6 months+, can I be firmer with getting them to act?
In March 2021, me and my former housemates spoke with a tenants charity to see if we had a case against our former landlord for not correctly protecting our deposit. They confirmed we did and referred us to their partnered solicitors based in another city to take action on a no-win no-fee basis, with them taking 25% of any compensation.
Notices before action were issued to no effect, so we eventually had a court hearing in December 2022 where we won, with the judge setting compensation at 7x the deposit plus costs (3 separate infractions on 3 tenancy contracts).
Notices for payment were issued, but we (and the lawyers) believe the legal contact address on the contract is out of date. While the court hearing confirmed this still was good legal service, it does seem to have made it harder to make the landlord aware he owes compensation.
After not receiving any compensation/contact from the landlord around 3 months after the ruling, the lawyers advised the best way of recovering money would be to get a charging order against one of his properties to enforce a sale and recover the money from there.
This process has been understandably slow. We've had to chase the solicitors for updates, with the last contact we had being in June 2024 saying they're were pushing through the final charging order with land registry and they were hoping to resolve soon, as well as that our case was being passed to a new individual at the solicitors.
Since then, I've followed up with them via email in November and earlier this week, but received no reply.
I understand that this process does take a while, and as a no-win no-fee client for a case that has likely taken much more time than expected (my understanding is that these cases are usually settled before court as they're so slam-dunk), we might not be top of the solicitors' priority list, but I am concerned about it being progressed at all.
What actions can I reasonably take with the solicitors? I am planning to call them soon, but I'm also eager not to annoy them and jeopardise our chances of recovering the compensation by suggesting they're not adhering to the service they should be providing.

2025.01.23 13:26 CFlash7 How do I stop these white stains from appearing on clothes?

Just moved to a new place and my clothes are getting these stains when using the washer. I’ve tried different detergents and using less and they all end up the same. I re-washed these clothes with water only and it helps get out some but not all of the stains. The stains show up prominently on certain fabrics and others are unaffected. Hand washing with detergent in a bathtub completely eliminates it which makes me thing it’s something with the machine. I’m wondering if it’s not draining properly or if a filter needs to be cleaned. This is a top load Fridgaire Quiet pack washer.
I have washed the machine several times with washing machine cleaner and vinegar, but still having the same issue.

hi! i'm afab transmasc and looking for tips on how to pass better without hrt. i'm having a hard time with this because i'm not a huge fan of wearing extremely masc clothing, so i'm looking for alternatives on how to pass or at least on how to look more androgynous without having to dress like some straight dude 24/7. been feeling kinda hopeless but i'm never fully sure of going the hrt way. dysphoria comes and goes for me, sometimes i feel ok, sometimes my world shatters bc i just want to look like a guy (but i don't like a LOT of the effects of T, like facial hair and more body hair in general, hair loss, etc.) Honestly I'd only do it for the voice. On that note, anyone that could make their voice drop through voice training alone?

2025.01.23 13:26 Fanafuxi I just started the DLC and...

(This is just me sharing my experience of the start of the DLC, feel free to share your own similar experiences or give me some mild guidance but avoid spoilers.)
So I just started the DLC and I knew it would be a bit scary but I kept avoiding any spoilers (and wish to keep it that way, please don't spoil anything 🙏) All I knew was that there was some sort of new ship in the solar system that isn't either nomai nor heartian. I also knew that there was a scarecrow-deer thing but since it's humanoid, unlike the anglerfish which are the only non-humanoid species and the only "mean" ones. I thought he was kind of a guide for us.
Now, I start the DLC, discover how to dream travel to the scarecrow-deer things' moon and it's a bit creepy, I see the shadow of one watching a diaporama (btw, first scare when I lit up the screen and he stopped watching but I didn't see him after that so I didn't think any more of it.) but I keep on discovering what I need to discover.
Up to the point when I learn that they burned the reels and one of them took a thing with one of the vault's logo behind the painting at the bottom of the lodge. I do as always and copy what I see them do and, for the 1st time, see the scarecrow-deer thing as I go to make the bridge inside of the lodge appear. I keep it in the focus of my light but it starts moving towards me. I think back to what I believed before playing and that he might be friedly and... he eats me. I am now terrified and turned the console off for a bit.
