Hello, as the title says, I’m trying to replace a part on my Moccamaster and having trouble figuring out where the third contact wire is supposed to go after disassembling and now reassembling. There doesn’t seem to be a prong for the third wire. Is it possible it broke off? I forgot to take a picture as I went. Can you please help me? Sorry, I’m not sure if this is allowed on this subreddit!

2025.01.23 17:30 AdLate8647 How do you feel about approaching someone you find attractive @ 40+?
So I am about to be 40 and I have struggled a lot for the past few years approaching women. Not because I have trouble with communicating or flirting, but because I am self conscious about my age. When I was younger I was very confident approaching women. Today I have this (irrational?) fear of being a CREEP.
I have witnessed creepy old dudes hit on pretty girls and it is something I told myself I never want to become!!!
Most of the time I struggle with knowing the age of women I find attractive. Some women seem like they could be my age but it turns out they are like 20 years younger than me!!
I guess what I am asking is:
Is it ok to flirt with women/men at 40? I don't know if its creepy or not. Yet, I do not want to lose this exciting part of life that I really (used) to enjoy. The thrill and fun of knowing you still go it. You know?
What do you old farts think? LOL

2025.01.23 17:30 SpecialPrevious8585 Chemo brain and reading for enjoyment?
I love to read. It has been extremely helpful to get lost in books the past 4 months since diagnoses while going through chemo.
I have found the past week though - my brain just can't seem to focus or get lost in a book the way I usually do. I keep having to go back and re-read paragraphs and feel like the words are "hitting a wall" as they enter my brain.
I'm thinking this must be part of having chemo brain. Has anyone else experienced it?
I have started and given up on more books this month then I usually do in a year. (About 5 making it from 50-100 pages in each one and just not feeling any reason to keep reading.)

2025.01.23 17:30 CrushedOats Shell house mould problem
The 4th floor bathrooms in Shell (more like hell) are a living Petri dish. There’s 0 ventilation so mould is growing into the walls and ceiling here and it’s so damn nasty. You can smell the mould in the halls and through the vents.
I’ve reported it to residence but they haven’t done anything yet to address the issue. I love that I pay over 4k to live and shower here!! Thanks SFU!!
I would use a different shower on my floor but aside from this one they’re all closed because of plumbing issues.
Anyone else have any horrible unresolved issues with residence?

Hi I've been doing some research and wanted to check with the community before pulling the trigger on my onebag. I'll be traveling to Vietnam and the Philippines in a week and my considerations are as follows:
- 40L or less
- Comfortable being worn for long durations. For a portion of my trip I'll be motorcycling down coast of Vietnam and will take this bag with me. Some stretches of riding will be 2-3 hours.
- Must be waterproof. It's rain season there and I will be carrying electronics/camera.
- Compatible with a storage system for my camera. I'll likely only be using one lense and was eyeing Peak Design's storage cubes just not sure what will work with various backpacks.
- Relatively compatible with airlines as a carry on. I'll have one checked bag but trying to keep things light.
- Durable. I'll be taking this on many adventures in Asia and need to know it can hold up.
- Not bulky. If it can be collapsed/made to be smaller using a strap system that would be ideal.

2025.01.23 17:30 Pastenger High pitch (8kHz) noise while recording bass/guitar
Hello everyone,
Here's my problem: each time im plugging a bass or a guitar in my audio interface, there's a high pitch noise (aroung 8kHz) that comes and goes randomly into the mix. Sometimes there's no noise for a few minutes, then the noise comes back and disappears again.. You can hear the noise here.

I tried a lot of different setups in different rooms and with different laptops but the noise still appears anyway. The most minimal setup I tried is: Bass -> Behringer UMC1820 (external power) or Focusrite 2i2 (usb power) -> Laptop (on battery), everything heard through my headphones. I also tried to plug my audio interface intol the different usb ports of my laptop (usb 3.0 and usb-c).
It seems to be a ground issue at first because it disappears when I touch my bass or my audio interface, but it appears even when there are no external power supplies and my laptop on battery.
Im using a bass with a humbucker single coil pickup and a piezo pickup (I know that these kind of mics can produce a lot of noise, but as I understood, it is a low noise (that I also have in the mix) and not a really high pitch noise). When Im using the humbucker, the high pitch noise disappears when I put the tone on 0 (which is just a low pass filter).
So my questions are: Where does this noise come from ? Can it comes from a usb issue ? In this case, do you know any solution, I heard about usb isolators but I don't know if it really works. If not, do you have any other ideas ?
And in a more general way, what is a good/pro setup to record guitabass in a DAW without having all these issues ?

It's a lovely, peaceful night.
A weird guy enters the arcade, he approaches one of the coin-dispensing machines, pulls out a dollar, and inserts it into it. He receives some arcade coins so he could play games in the building. Hmm.. what's he going to play first? He begins to explore, looking from left and right at almost each and every game machine, as he thinks with his right hand under his chin. Then, a teenage player happily walks up to him, she asks if he wants to play a multi-player game with her, he nods once as a response. She's excited! So she holds his hand to bring him to the machine, as she tells him that she doesn't have anyone with her in the arcade because one of her friends is sick at home and couldn't come along. The mute grey adult feels bad for them. Nearly a minute later, they reach it, to which both of them insert one coin into the slots to start the game. They are now playing together. The teen is having so much fun, and so is he, though, only in his mind... Anyways, while they play, he overhears a pair of teenage boys whisper to each other about him, one of them sounds worried. The weird guy doesn't pay attention to them.
"Come on, like what's he gonna do? Hit me or somethin'? Psh!"
"N-no, just don't even do it, okay? It's for your-"
"Nah, watch me. I'll prove it to ya!"
Oh, it seems like the girl is going to win! But, wait.. before the beat-em-up game ends, all of a sudden, a ball hits him hard across his head, instantly causing him t-
VIOLENCE MODE INITIATED.
Growling furiously, he quickly looks in the direction of where his aggressor is standing at, the pair of colorful players are terrified as heck, ESPECIALLY the one who tossed the ball at him on purpose. The boy flees in fear, and the violent weird guy almost immediately teleports right in front of him, picks him up by the collar of his shirt, then proceeds to smash him aggressively against the side of a game machine repeatedly. The girl doesn't look fazed at all, while other players are either like her or horrified at what they're witnessing at the moment. With one last violent smash, the 'mute' grey adult's aggressor dies, to which he throws his body to the ground. The arcade game machine is now broken, though... it can be repaired, so, that's not really a problem. Well, for the owner of the game, not the employees, that is. After that, he returns to his usual mute self again, and saunters back to where he was, the teen looks a little sad. Why? She didn't get to win because it was a tie. What does the weird guy do? He simply pats her head to attempt to comfort her, then gives her a thumbs up, she smiles. He teleports away.
Now, he's at the library. He walks around the place for a bit, staring at the books and thinking of which one to read first. Calmly searching through the fiction section, he finds a short story book about a small fish going through the ocean to meet new friends and strange stuff happening while it's at it. Getting interested in it, he grabs it off the shelves, approaches an empty table, then sits down on a chair as he places the book and opens it. He starts to read it.. in silence, of course. Not even a MINUTE passes, some player randomly tosses a somewhat-heavy book directly at him, it hits him on the right side of his face. Is it accidental..? No-
VIOLENCE MODE INITIATED.
Here we go again. The violent weird guy lets out a terrifying, heavily distorted screech as he turns his head to the right to glance at his next aggressor, who's an adult player, he's sweating nervously. A person next to him sarcastically congratulates him for intentionally hurting him, telling him to enjoy his prize. The pursuit commences. ... Though, it ends pretty fast, because the 'mute' grey adult has teleported right behind him to snatch the back of his shirt then slammed him down vehemently at the ground, causing the colorful player to scream in pain. As he lies there weakly, his pursuer pulls out his sign, and proceeds to stab him everywhere multiple times rapidly. Finally, he decapitates him, he's now dead. ... The weird guy returns to his usual mute self again, he stares at the player's body, rolls his eyes, and heads back to the table to continue reading his book. As soon as he finishes it, he stands up to teleport away and out of the library.
Where is he now? In his favorite place, the aquarium! So, he saunters around the place, it's very peaceful and nice here. There are no colorful players here to harass and attack him on purpose... Going down through the tunnels, he watches the fish swim back and forth, as they would normally do in the real world. He pulls out his phone to take a picture of them, then puts it away. Little does he know, there's a teenage player following him around, she seems to be curious. A few minutes later, he stops at one tunnel to look at the beautiful whales and sharks here.. the teen approaches to greet him, she asks if he likes whales, to which he shrugs a little. She's confused, but giggles cheerily. They watch them together.
... She looks up at him, he stares back at her. The girl looks nervous, as if she's thinking about something bad, she gulps in fear.
"Um.. I'm sorry, but... my friends dared me to do.. this. P-please don't kill me..!"
Before he gets to tilt his head slightly, he is suddenly shoved by her, immediately causing him-
VIOLENCE MODE INITIATED.
Screaming in pure terror, she turns to flee from the now-violent weird guy, who starts to chase after her on all fours, letting out a horrifying, glitchy screech. It quickly ends when he tackles her to the ground, she fearfully begs him not to kill her, it's not her fault, her friends thought the dare was fun. But, he obviously does not listen to her, she assaulted him intentionally, which means he has to kill her, whether she likes it or not. And that's unfortunate. He pulls out his sign, then proceeds to chop her head in half, killing her instantly. After this, he returns to his usual mute self... ONCE again. The mute grey adult stares at her body, and just sighs silently, he didn't think that she would push him like that without warning. Though, she did inform him that her 'friends' dared her to harm him or any other weird guy 'for fun'. Looking back at the fish for a few seconds, he teleports away.
Yup, just a normal day in A Road...
...
WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT, ANOTHER ENTERTAINING INCIDENT HAS BEEN ADDED TO MY FAVORITES!
HEHEHEHEHEHEH..
THIS SURE WAS FUN TO WATCH, I MAY OR MAY NOT WATCH IT AGAIN IN THE FUTURE.
AND, GODDAMN, THOSE NEW PLAYERS *NEVER* LEARN NOT TO HARM MY TEST SUBJECTS..
