First off, I want to say I love this podcast. Karen and Georgia are phenomenal storytellers, and their humor and empathy have made it such a comfort for me. I’m currently re-listening to all the episodes and just finished Episode 90.
Something that stood out to me, though, is Georgia’s repeated commentary about Germans and Germany. While I absolutely understand and respect her perspective as a Jewish person, and the immense weight of what happened during the Holocaust, I feel it’s important to note that history isn’t black and white.
Yes, Germany has a deeply complicated and painful past, but atrocities have been committed by many nations throughout history, including England’s use of gas chambers in Africa and America’s role in the Vietnam War, to name a few. No one group or country is free of dark chapters.
I think what hits closest to home for me is that being German doesn’t automatically mean someone is a Nazi. My family, for example, hid Jewish people during the Holocaust, and my grandfather was a prisoner of war. Stories like these are also part of Germany’s history and resilience.
This isn’t to diminish the horrors of the Holocaust or her perspective in any way—I fully respect how personal it is for her. I just wanted to share another angle and express that, while those comments can be funny or cathartic in the moment, they can feel a bit reductive for listeners with German heritage.

I love digging deep with people about our emotions, thoughts, ambitions, dreams, and all the silly stuff in between. I think it's an excellent way to feel like you're genuinely connected to another person. It can be very uncomfortable but I'd argue all the nicest things in life require a bit of discomfort first, to appreciate the authenticity and comfort that comes after (i sound like i'm enlightened but i promise i'm far from it).
A bit about me: I'm 28, south asian, work in tech (obviously), love to read, write, gym, watch movies and shows, travel, explore new hobbies (i've done so much this year), meet new people and act like I'm a good therapist on occasion (I think I'm amazing)

I transferred from a large university in my hometown to a slightly smaller but far more prestigious school about 45 minutes away. At my old school, I had a ton of friends and rarely ate meals or studied alone, and my parents were there when I got home. Here, I have no one. I feel like I’m living my worst nightmare— I go to class, go to my apartment, study, sleep, and rot in my bed, where I’m always alone because my roommate never showed up. I was so afraid this would happen. I did all of the stuff everyone suggests. I’ve joined a bunch of clubs, including a fundraising committee for color guard (I plan to audition next year), a club related to my major, and a dance organization. I talk to people in my classes. I even tried to do COB for a sorority and got dropped by every single house (one of whom insinuated that I wouldn’t be welcome back to rush in the fall). The problem is, no one wants to make friends. Every time I offer to hang out with someone, they make excuses for why they can’t. I feel like everyone here is so focused on grinding Leetcode and doing whatever they can to get a good job that no one wants to make friends. I feel as lonely as I did in high school, where no one liked me.

- I’m pretty sure that this post as a caregiver follows the mod rules, as it is a very specific question, but I apologize in advance if it doesn’t. *
My mom just got a double mastectomy with the deflated implants today.
I made her a gift basket to counter as many inconveniences as I could think of/seen mentioned by those that have experienced recovery, including the chest pillow for car rides, so that’s covered.
I was on my way home tonight from the hospital when I realized that I wasn’t sure which car would be best to bring my mom home in (tomorrow).
My parents have a Range Rover, which is pretty tall; but my grandma’s Chevy Malibu is also available to use.
My dad thinks the Range Rover would be easier to get out of, since she can just slide out of it (she’s 5’4” in case that matters) but I think the Malibu will be easier to get into, and I think she will have to use considerably less energy to stand up out of the Malibu than pulling herself up into the Range Rover. I also suggested bringing a step ladder with the Range Rover, but I still think the Malibu will be easier.
I wanted to ask those of you who have experienced post op: which car do you think would be easier on my mom? I did text her to try and get her opinion, but I don’t really expect a response because she’s obviously so tired and is already struggling with pain (low blood pressure is keeping them from giving her an iv for pain).
Any insight on this would be so appreciated.

Hey, I’m wondering what you’re all paying for a 12 month subscription to PS Plus Essential in Canada. The 35% discount sale is now up in the store but my PS5 refuses to show me what the actual cost would be. I had heard that if you cancel your renewal then the discount would apply or show up in the store. Mine is not. I paid 189.99 in 2024 for a year. After I cancelled my auto renewal and rebooted, the 35% off sale still shows me a price of 189.99 for 12 months. I’m no mathematician, but I’m failing to see the 35% savings. TIA.

 | Stopped at an antique store today here in Ontario Canada. The store surprisingly had several walls of Hotwheels on display. Not antiques. Most were new. Didn’t have time to see them all but I did manage to get these. However I did pay a premium for these. $30CAD. The shop owners were really nice and the shop was amazing with interesting things to see. It’s their off season so I didn’t care about paying more than they’re worth.
