I (18F) was born into a South Asian, Muslim household and I want to preface this by saying that I do not hold hatred against Muslims. I have just had an extremely bad experience with the religion and the religious abuse I’ve faced and as a result, I am not religious anymore. This is a separate issue though.
Anyway, Islam, or at least the version I was raised in, naturally puts an extreme amount of importance on marriage, and when fused with my culture in particular, it’s a dangerous mix. It’s hard to understand unless you’ve been raised in that environment yourself, but from a conservative view, as soon as you are “of age,” which in religious terms, for a woman, is once you get your period, it’s highly pushed for you to get married and have children. So, ever since I was a child, I’ve kind of had it drilled into my head that marriage is inescapable through regular subtle (or sometimes not-so-subtle) comments. These, from what I’ve been told, apparently come under coercion?
I’ll continue in the comments since I posted this yesterday too and the bot marked it as spam, but it is a little lengthy and I’m sorry for that.

Alright, I'm ready to be downvoted into oblivion for not seeing the answer right in front of my face, but I was looking at MLB Pipeline's top prospects and it occurred to me that Jackson Holliday was no longer on there because he qualified as a rookie last season.
Now let me preface this all by saying I dislike service time manipulation. It sucks when guys are used right up to the brink of qualifying as a rookie without actually stepping over that threshold.
That said, baseball teams are still allowed to do that, and abuse the loophole frequently. Considering that Jackson was not playing well last year (and thus not adding a ton of value to the team's playoff push) and is still very young, I'd assumed they'd done something along those lines to preserve an extra year of control over his contract. Instead, he passed the 130 PA threshold with 190 PAs and qualified as a rookie.
Were they just being cool by not manipulating his contract? Was he bringing something to the field that I'm not aware of as a non-O's fan? Did they back themselves into a corner with how and when they brought him up? I feel like I'm missing something.

It was so wonderful to hear from you and letting me know you have a new address. I will update my file. When I first saw the card, I thought it was homemade, pretty. Thank you for it and the interesting article and stickers. Our holidays were quiet; we don't have any family close by what few of them there are. We just sat at home wishing for snow and watched tv. We've not been able to get out because I've had surgery and not able to drive and my husband has had an overnight stay in the ER twice since the new year started.
