Carbon removal is increasingly viewed as a key step on the road to achieving net zero by 2050. Using trees, soil, farming techniques, the ocean and direct air capture can all reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and help achieve climate goals. Carbon removal – which can involve anything from planting trees to technology that sucks carbon from the atmosphere – is mission critical for tackling climate change. Efforts to scale up carbon removal are growing but this area is challenged by issues including cost, as well as geophysical, biological and political constraints. Point-source carbon capture, where CO2 from large sources such as power plants and industrial facilities is trapped and stored to prevent it from being released into the atmosphere, is a key method for cutting emissions in the cement and concrete industry. Carbon credits allow companies to compensate for their greenhouse gas emissions. Now a new scheme proposes devoting the proceeds to help developing nations end their use of fossil fuels. The plan is being promoted by President Biden’s climate envoy, John Kerry, at the COP27 climate summit. Carbon-pricing is regarded as one of the most powerful tools to help countries limit CO2 emissions and reach net-zero targets. Denmark has approved a new corporate carbon tax which will become the highest in Europe. Some of the world’s biggest emitters of CO2 have either not imposed a carbon tax or have introduced emissions trading systems ... Achieving carbon neutrality demands rethinking rigid regulatory frameworks to create innovation-friendly environments. Collaborative efforts between governments and businesses, such as simplified regulation, subsidies, tax incentives, and research investments, are crucial for hard-to-abate sectors. The sea is home to most of our biodiversity, and 3 billion people globally rely on it for their livelihoods, according to the UN. However, carbon emissions from human activity are causing ocean warming, acidification and oxygen loss, putting large numbers of marine-related jobs at risk, it says. Therein lies one of the problems with carbon offsetting – on its own, it won’t do much to reduce the volume of emissions being generated. Yes it will do something that absorbs carbon in the future, or that helps someone else reduce their footprint. But the best it can hope for is to prevent an overall increase. Natural carbon sinks absorb roughly half of atmospheric CO2. They range from the oceans and forests to elephants and fungi and are some of the few solutions that are ready today for carbon removal. Protecting them is essential if they are going to help tackle the climate crisis, as their destruction releases stored carbon back into the atmosphere. Climate finance and carbon markets took centre stage at the 2024 UN Climate Conference (COP29), which strongly focused on increasing funding and creating effective carbon market mechanisms. COP29 was also the first ever “Finance COP,” agreeing to mobilize $300 billion of climate finance, falling short of the trillion-dollar figure demanded by developing countries.
2025.01.24 09:52 223Harsh Drilling Into Carbon Fiber
Hello I have several carbon fiber sheets, I need to drill into to mount some loads, the problem is the carbon fiber sheets are shattering from the holes I have drilled, I am using diamond tip drillbit for drilling, is there something I am doing wrong?(Which might be the case) as I have very limited experience with carbon fiber or composits in general, and Before shattering I see the crack propagating from the holes I drilled and mounted the loads. Any help would be appreciated (Regarding the strength of the sheets, I mounted my loads on teh top without drilling and have no isses at all)

$HEGE, the first story-driven memecoin, has been making waves in the world of crypto since its inception 9 months ago. Key reasons for this are the incredible strength and loyalty of the community, the uniqueness of the project, the attractive NFT's that pay dividends, and the dedicated and creative team. But there are a few more hidden factors that give this project such a strong foundation. I’d like to discuss some of those factors in this post.

2025.01.24 09:51 Extension_Mud_2496 What car have you, or would you buy to keep forever?
I'll start this by saying I've owned over 85 cars at this point. None of them have I ever thought... This is it. I'll never buy another. Currently I own an f-type v8s, a kia ev6 gt, and an L322 range rover. The jag and the range are as close as I've gotten to "I'll keep these forever" cars, but they'll probably both be gone in a year.

2025.01.24 09:51 Miss_X2m1 Razr+2024 - Screen shrinkage during cold weather.
I've noticed with cold weather that the folding crease on my Razr+2024 is less noticeable. I keep my phone open except when I am traveling, then I fold it and put it in my pocket or shoulder bag. We've had very cold weather in Northern New Jersey these past several days and I've noticed that the folding crease appears less noticeable.
Anyone else experience this? Could it be harmful to the screen? Did Motorola test for this prior to production?
I also have one gripe; spend $1,000 for a phone and no CHARGER? Seriously?? I ended up having to spend another $50 for the Motorola Qi charger.
