Every time I watch VFX Artists React, I can't help but wonder how much talent must be required to become a VFX artist. How much artistic ability one must need and how much knowledge of physics must be required to create effects like water or fire or falling and flying objects. It all seems incredibly difficult.

I'm not sure what GPU to get to finally replace my reset bugged 7900 XT so that I can use VFIO.
What is more bang for the buck? Where I'm at, the 5080 is expected to be 40% more expensive than the 5070 Ti.
How does the 5070 Ti compare to the 4080 in real world benchmarks?
I'm mostly going to use it for gaming but also some AI type stuff.

Hello everyone,
I work at a shipping warehouse and my area handles transporting the heavier packages inside the building, collecting the heavy packages from a belt and stacking to the top onto a metal set/cart with wheels surrounded by 3 fence like walls to prevent the packages from falling out when driving them from point A to point B.

One of my employees cart was stuck on a green pole in the building and what we normally do is pull the cart to get it unstuck so we can continue without getting in trouble or any issues.
Well part of the cart broke while I was using all my force to unjam it and it made me fly backwards and land on the floor and hit the back of my head.

I reported the injury asap after I was able to recollect my self and be walked over to my boss. We wrote everything down and did a workers comp too ontop of the injury report. The next morning I went to the company urgent care and was deemed okay to work after X-rays of my neck and back of head.
I still have head aches, im sore and I don’t feel 100% I just kind of feel off in a way. So I told my boss that I’m not going to work for the rest of the week to see if I can be better to return to work.
Still don’t feel 100% so I contacted a lawyer and going to speak to him later on today.
What are my options and am I doing everything correct so far?
Thank you. Any information is helpful and appreciated. This is my first time doing anything like this and just looking for some guidance.

2025.01.24 11:11 Onethatlikes Doe anyone know if we will be able to remove the arcade special effects during combat?
AC has gotten much more arcadey since they went into open world RPGs, but at the same time they also got better over time with customisation options. For example, allowing you to remove damage points and health bars.
However, what was never removable was the juvenile special effects, like glowing red weapons when someone was going to attack, green smoke coming off poison arrows, or weird slow-motion and massive amounts of sparks flying around. From the preview footage, this is still fully part of the design of Shadows as well.
I don't expect AC to ever go back to its slightly more grounded and mature roots, and I'm not interested in a discussion about the hypotheticals, I just want to ask you all: has anyone read or heard whether these arcadey special effects will also become customisable in Shadows? I read about the Immersive mode they are introducing, but all I could find was that it changes the voice over language.

Problem/Goal: should I initiate a conversation or hayaan na lang muna?
Context: there’s this guy and we’ve known each other since elem pero not really that close. nakakasama ko lang siya minsan pag may mga events or competitions ganun. before, he’s just a guy na kilala ko lang from school. pero nung grumaduate ako, nagcongrats siya and dun na magsimula yung pag-uusap hahsjajaj. although usually, casual conversation lang pero nagpaparamdam minsan na gusto niya lumabas but never really asked me out.
the problem is kung mag-uusap man kami, hindi tumatagal. mga 30 mins to 1 hr lang ganun. bihira lang yung umaabot na sa madaling araw. tapos dadaan yung ilang araw na hindi na naman mag-uusap tapos bigla na naman siya magchachat tapos maka-cut na naman usapan HAHAHAHAHAHA. napapatanong na lang ako ng “slow burn pa ba ‘to or delulu lang ako” HAHAHAHAHA ganyan lang lagi cycle since last year pa ata to HAHAHAHAH. nung pumasa ako sa boards, kakalabas pa lang ng results, nagcongrats na siya with shared post pa. mas nauna pa niyang nalaman na pumasa ako HAHSHSHHAH

 | Hello internet, I'm an online English teacher on the Preply platform, and have been now for 3 years. I'm very dedicated to my work, and many of my students are displaced people, or foreigners living in English-speaking countries, wanting to better communicate. Therefore, I'm often not just a teacher but a friend and a source of advice. Before I explain the recent scam - I know that I shouldn't give too much of myself away, but 99% of my students are legit, and I wouldn't not be there for the aforementioned. And so, this chappy... 'Martin' first approached me some months ago. It is typical on this platform that students and the teacher message each other first before booking a lesson, of course to establish a level of comfort, and to explain relevant situations and intentions. My schedule had just filled up, but this guy continued to beg for lessons with me, as he wanted someone with my empathetic approach, because he was alone in the UK and was struggling to make connections. To be honest, his clinginess put me off, but I did say I'd let him know in future if anything freed up, as I had no reason to be suspicious and I did sympathise with his situation. After all, I am a foreigner living in Montenegro speaking intermediate Montenegrin, so I know that struggle personally. Anyway, his account disappeared, and a few months later, another account for 'Martin' appeared, getting in touch saying he had some issues with the last one. My suspicion started here, but I kept the contact, not giving too much away. He booked a trial lesson through Preply, but didn't show up for it. No answer to my messages, disappeared again. A few more months later, I get contact from 'Ben'. Ben had a similar story, was apparently alone in the UK, gave me all the sad stories. Of course I emphasise that the student is in a safe space with me, etc. He asked to meet on Google Meets and pay through PayPal - it's actually great when students offer this, because Preply doesn't pay the teacher for trial lessons, and I can avoid Preply's charges for future lessons. So I accepted, because I have other legit students doing this. So, I met him on Google Meets. Nothing majorly odd at first, just that he wouldn't turn on his camera. He explained a sad story about how he found his wife cheating on him in India, so now he's in the UK with no pals. He said some other stuff about how he lives in Hitchin, did his uni in Manchester. I gave him nothing less than therapy in our lesson, advising him how he could better connect with people and not feel alone. He started turning weird and sexual soon after that, leveraging the story about his wife to lead to how he found a cuckold kink and how he wanted me to "shame" him and "tease" him...when I said I think he's after something else and I'm not here for that, he'd gaslight me and pretend it's just a mistake with the language. His English is quite advanced - he knows what he's doing. At this point I'm pissed - I work hard and I don't like my kindness being exploited and my time being wasted. So, I sent the attached message and blocked him, which brings me here - I just checked my PayPal and he has raised a dispute for both hours of work, trying to claim the payments back. The cheeky lil perv! HOWEVER this is where I have an upper hand - by doing this I guess he didn't realise I would get his FULL real name, email, and full home address in England. Had a lil stalk on Facebook, of course he has a wife and 2 kids. So, I had some ideas, but came here to the hive mind before reacting hastily from my anger....do I contact wifey, making sure she can confirm the identity with the address (Although with the very specific name, details and location I'm 90% sure it's him)? Do I put all his info here in Reddit for the wolves to attack? I’m fitting a new exhaust to my 2002 NB soon. I’ve got an IL mid pipe and an M2 back box, but the diameters differ slightly. The mid pipe is around 2.2 inches, while the back box is 2.5. I need to get a gasket between the two and wasn’t sure which internal size I should aim for.
