2025.01.24 11:09 RustyDevNI Power Spikes
The power graph produced by my JBV is full of spikes that don't seem to be related to my effort. Since switching to the JBV I've finished in the last few places in races where on my old trainer I was at the front with a chance of winning (Cat C, ~500 ZRS). I'm finding the start of races a lot harder than before and I'm not sure why.
The image attached is the first 5 minutes of two races on the same course, one from a JBV last night and the other from late October on a Directo X. The graphs are very different, the JBV has loads of power spikes but the cadence is mostly steady. The Direto X has wilder cadence but steadier power. Riding the JBV feels odd, its like the trainer is surging during these efforts and it could be related to shifting.
My main reason for switching away from the Direto is I always thought it was over reading. During races I was prone to bursting to stay with groups rather than steady power which I thought could be micro-bursting/sticky watts. The Direto would take forever to show zero watts/cadence so I'd never see it during a fast effort, the JBV goes to zero almost instantly. I expected a drop in performance but no as much as I'm experiencing.
The drop in performance could also be fitness related as I missed some weeks of cycling during Nov/Dec but I'm fully on it in Jan and it doesn't explain the power spikes. ERG mode is perfect, far better than the Direto and hard efforts on workouts feels normal. I've done 8 minute efforts with smooth power graphs that seem to be impossible in free rides.
Has anyone else encountered these spikes?
I have contacted support as I initially felt the vibration issue, I think there could be something wrong with the trainer but I'm not 100% sure.

Specifically any tools similar to Cerebro, Magnet or Black Box on Helium10.
I know what you think "If you can't afford Helium then how can you afford to do Amazon at all??"
In my case, I'm transitioning from working as an in-house Amazon PPC Manager to freelance - and until I get a few regular clients, I don't want to spend the money on the software myself - and some clients may not be very keen on purchasing Helium, so I'm looking for an alternative, just to get someone started, where I can get a few basic tools. I mean the tools I've mentioned are not basic, they're great, but yeah, I need at least one of them.
The reason for that is that some clients might either be just starting out or are not trusty when it comes to hiring anyone to manage their money. Helium10 is a must without a doubt, but some people just need more convincing than others.
Sorry that 80% of this is me explaining myself, but resigning from Helium is rather a big mistake in this field so I had to properly explain the "why" :D

Mesterképzésre már levelező képzés keretein belül megyek, így már nem leszek jogosult árvaellátási támogatásra, viszont felmerült pár kérdésem és lehetetlen utolérnem a nyugdíjfolyósítót, így megkérdezem itt is amíg hallgatom a Mozart zenét telefonon... :)
1) Le kell nyilatkoznom, hogy már nem nappali tagozaton tanulok, vagy pedig tudnak róla és nem fogják küldeni jogtalanul a pénzt?
1+1) Amennyiben le kell jelenteni, hol találok erre formanyomtatványt?
2) Mindaddig jogosult vagyok árvaellátásra, amíg az előző diák jogviszonyom él? (Tehát március 31, legalábbis a matricám eddig érvényes.. :D)
