Hello,
I have tried both https://zlib-official.com/ and https://z-lib.io/ as of today keep getting automatically redirected to strange ad websites (usually for VPNs claiming they’ve detected a virus on my computer and I need to buy their program to fix it - which is funny because I’m using the site on my iPad/phone). I have not experienced this on these same websites until today.
Are these versions no longer safe? I tried the SK version of the site as well and experienced the same issue.

Could anyone here confirm if they're able to load Simplified Chinese books on the newest Paperwhite? I've seen some people mention how the newest Paperwhite doesn't (while the basic does) and I'm conflicted what to buy because my parents want to try reading books on the kindle too. (We have an iPad but they get eye strain, and the text on physical books are difficult for them to read without glasses.) I know kobo is an option but I'll like to stick to kindle for my first e-reader if possible because of the battery life + KU...

2025.01.27 04:24 CakeDayOrDeath Recovering from an eating disorder is hard. What's going on in the US has been making it even harder.

Disclaimer: I know that this is 1000% a first world problem and that other people have it harder. I need to get this off my chest though.
I relapsed into an eating disorder several months ago. I'm fortunate that I've been able to access treatment, but as anyone who has battled an ED knows, it's really fucking difficult to recover from this.
The recent developments in the US government have made it even more difficult at least for me.
ED recovery is about increasing variety of foods and not being afraid of foods. I've been working hard on this seemingly just in time for food prices to skyrocket again. So now I have a legit reason to avoid buying a bunch of different foods.
There are also predicted food shortages on the horizon. I'm trying to stop starving myself just in time to possibly have significantly limited access to certain foods and possibly a large variety of foods. It's like a sick joke.
And of course the biggest thing is that, like many people with an eating disorder, it's something I turn to as a coping mechanism when I feel like I'm not in control of things. And with recent political developments, there are a zillion things that most people can't control.
I do still have reasons to recover. I need to be there for my family, my friends, and my community, and I can't do that when I'm sick. But man, it's so difficult.

My wife has an opportunity to take a position with a consulting firm that seems to do most of its business with the VA healthcare system. The head of the consulting firm spent much of their career as a leader within the VA in the early 2000s.
Given all of the volatility surrounding budgets within the federal government, how dangerous is it for her to take this job? Our fear is that she takes the job and then suddenly the contracts are canceled and then she’s out of work.
This consulting firm is awarded about $30 million in government contracts per year, but they are most of the VA. Any insight would be invaluable, we’re just very new to this world.

Which color looks best on me? Hi all, I'm currently trying to decide my next move for my hair.
These photos span from 2020 (last photo) to about 3 months ago (first photo). I made a slow transition to blonde via highlighting after i dyed my hair red. It was a very long and expensive process but it was worth it because I love the grey platinum blonde.
My issue is the upkeep. I had some major breakage the last time i did my roots in october so I've been letting my roots grow out and haven't touched my hair sine. But now it's down to a point where i have about 4 inches of undyed growth, it's much warmer from not being toned, and I'm getting antsy. So I guess, does the platinum look good enough to keep up with?
For reference, I tend to hang more towards gothic/alt/street styles so i really like darker colors and high contrast which is why i personally have really liked the super light hair (i think it pairs well with my extremely faicool toned skin). I also like the feminine feel of the platinum.
I've considered going black but i fear it would be too much and I know it's a long term commitment. I love the red but I don't want to go back to red because of how difficult it was to get rid of it. I really want to stay within a cool toned color palette and another issue with the red was that it always faded super warm!! 😭😭 should I just continue to grow my hair out to my natural color? Get lowlights? Any suggestions or advice would be super helpful! Thank you!!😊

2025.01.27 04:24 ArizonaRenegade Is it possible to request to get your hacked account disabled? Or any other way to get the hacked account deactivated, so that the hacker will stop having access to Facebook account and Messenger messages??

So, my mom's Facebook was hacked today and the hacker, apparently, has been reading through the Messenger messages and texting my mom, on her cell number, and talking shit to her, about private things that were shared in her messages. The hacker is also threatening to expose the messages, publicly. They also made a post, for a vehicle for sale, on my mom's Facebook page, and turned off comments; which seems to be a common thing that these hackers do.
I have already reported the post (about the car for sale), for "Scam, Fraud or False Information", multiple times. I have also reported her actual Facebook profile, for the same thing. I've also used the Report feature, and chosen other options, as to why I am reporting the post or profile; but, so far, over the course of about the past 3-4 hours, nothing has happened. The car post is still up, her account is still fully active, and I have not received a response from Facebook, regarding any of the reports that I have made.
Ultimately, we would like for my mom to be able to regain access to her Facebook account; but, for now, I would like to try to get her account deactivated, so that, at least, the hacker can't post anything else on my mom's Facebook page, and so that they will not be able to continue to read through her private Messenger messages. I do not know how to actually get her Facebook account deactivated, though.
Is it possible to get her account deactivated?? If so, how could we try to get that to happen??
If anyone has any potentially helpful information, a helpful reply would be truly appreciated.

I think one of my loaches are on their way out and I noticed that it looks pretty skinny. I've noticed they don't join in on the food frenzy but always see them on the glass and rocks of my tank sucking away. Is there something I'm doing wrong?
20 gallon, 7 month old tank
Inhabitants are shrimp, snails, loaches, and corys.
Lots of algae to eat and I provide sinking wafers, algae wafers, and frozen brine shrimp.
Fluval filter and a bubbler.

I'm currently following this advice for practice : https://codeforces.com/blog/entry/116371 (TLDR : Pick a range, solve latest problems), currently solving in the 1000-1300 range and from what I'm seeing there aren't complex data structures involved but I'm not always getting the logical answers as well.
Have I just not practiced enough and should keep solving OR should I try a problem set like cses?
And what do you guys think for this range is the best way to solve problems? (how much time to give for thinking, when to see solution, how to read an editorial correctly,etc)
