Hello Japanfinanciers,
I'm hoping for some insight into my situation with regards to leaving my work and unemployment insurance.
I am currently a contract employee (契約社員）and there is a chance my company will not renew my contract next term. I checked and unemployment insurance (雇用保険料） is deducted from my paycheck every month so I am assuming I can get unemployment benefits for a bit.
I also have a side business as a sole proprietorship, but does that mess up the unemployment insurance as I'm technically employing self? I don't have many invoices etc, so i was thinking I could stop my side business for 1 month or something so I'm technically unemployed if I need to to qualify for unemployment benefits...
Any insight on the matters below would be much appreciated. Thank you!
- Does it matter that I'm a contract employee and not a salaried employee (正社員）？
- Will it change if I quit as opposed to them just not renewing my contract?
- Will unemployment money come from my company, or hello work?
- What type of income is this classified as? (I'm going to start my PR app soon so can I regard this as taxable income...?)

2025.01.27 04:31 t-neglectus1913 I’m going to the NC Zoo for my birthday and am wondering about their birds
(Disclosure: I am from Asheville, North Carolina) I’m going to the NC Zoo for my 18th birthday. My mom had already scheduled everything before I found out way too late that the aviary exhibit had been closed permanently since 2022, and is now a desert habitat. The aviary was the primary reason I wanted to go, so this is kind of upsetting. I’m still going to have a great time, since I love animals and my family, so I’m not changing any plans. Anyways, I’m still wondering if they have any parrots, lorikeets, or cockatoos in the park, since articles about the aviary’s closure said that some of the birds would be relocated within the zoo, and I wanted to ask y’all, or anyone who’s been to the zoo prior to the aviary’s retirement, if I can look forward to that. I'm looking for hiking recommendations for Northern Europe at the end of March. I have about 4 days and will be traveling from the U.S, and then I have to end up in Copenhagen. So staying somewhat in the northern region of Europe is preferred.
Truly, I'd love nothing more than to hike, walk around, and explore. I have 0 familiarity with hiking in the snow or ice, so preferably, a terrain that doesn't require that level of survival skill. I'd love a great view as well-- mountains, fjords, etc. Preferably not low-level/flat lands.
I've researched parts of Norway, but it sounds quite difficult and perhaps a little too snowy. Scotland looks a little dreary and foggy (I'm coming from fog so I'm familiar with its work).

I've been generating a wide variety of different genres of music for my original lyrics over the course of a few months, and for the first time today I came across a repeated sound bite. I don't mean repeating words, but an instrumental riff. I was surprised and deeply disappointed when I heard it. It wasn't just something that sounded similar to a song generated before it. It was the exact same sound, the same series of notes.
I need to know... has anyone else experienced this? (I can provide the recordings to compare)

I'll start with the experience 15 years ago. In my basement there's a bulkhead door which requires a hammer lock it. There's no way I could come unlocked by itself. Randomly I went downstairs one day and found the bulkhead door unlocked. There's been no work to the house in that time. My family and I can't understand how it got opened. Knowing there is a big metal top that also has to be opened and unlocked.
And for the experience a couple of months ago regarding the washing machine. It is top-loading. This is a very heavy door from a 15-year-old washing machine. I noticed it was all the way open when I always keep it closed. A couple of hours later I heard a noise and I went downstairs and it's wide open again I had to close it again.
These have been odd experiences that I cannot explain.
There was another experience I was going to save for another post but I'd like to say it here.
A Few years back I was in one room of the house and I went into the living room and noticed my door was wide open. I thought that was very odd and scary so I closed the front door and double locked it like it was before. I go into another room in probably wait about 15 minutes. I come back out into the living room and noticed my door is wide open again and my dog is older so he doesn't get up but he was definitely looking at the door like what happened? So that freaked me out I closed the door and double locked it again. I went into another room about 15 more minutes and came back out and noticed the door was wide open again and this time I didn't know what to think so I prayed to God please stop messing with me. It closed the front door from being wide open and double locked it again also my dog was looking again. These things make no sense. Maybe there is an intruder with the house key from years ago I'm not sure? Very strange things.

2025.01.27 04:31 Odd_Efficiency7507 AIO for thinking that my (23f) bf’s(23m) coworker(35f) is weird?
Took a picture of a convo with them, it was too blurry so I just typed it down. His responses are red.
Background: me and my bf have been dating for a couple months, he told everyone at work I was his wife because he thought it would be funny. Prior to us dating we were friends and he was open (a little too open tbh) about his previous experiences. After breaking up with his long term gf he hooked up with this coworker who’s 12-13 years older than him. He doesn’t think anything weird about it and he says that he’s able to separate intimacy and feelings. I personally think it’s gross and weird, the age gap between them is bigger than the age gap between him and her son (yes she has a kid). His other side of the argument is our parents age gaps. Both of our parents have 10+ years age gaps and he refuses to understand that the difference is that my parents had me and met when they were 30/40, not 20~21 and 32~33. He is also very very childish, so again that difference of maturity is there. (However it seems she’s not that mature either)
Now I wanted to think that she was just normal and nice but part of me as a female thinks it might be more than that. Prior to us dating (we were talking tho) they went on a Vegas trip for work, she sat next to him and kept taking snaps and posting them with her head resting on his shoulder. He showed these to me. Everyone at his job thought they were either a thing or assumed they’ve done stuff. She’s always in his office when I call him/ FaceTime him, he says I have impeccable timing because she’s never there but somehow manages to be there when I call him. She tried to invite us over for dinner but my bf didn’t tell me until like days after, I think he knows that she will do something I’m not going to like and just wants to avoid the entire situation. She got a bf sometime late last year after me and my bf started dating which made me think ok maybe she’ll stop texting/ calling my bf to ask for help with random things like furniture and tech etc but they broke up recently. Clearly he’s not entertaining her so I’m happy about that, he’s set at least some boundaries but I also can’t see what sort of snaps they send or what else she does. So keep in mind this is a very small snippet of what’s happened. He knows I’m posting this, he likes to be right and thinks the responses will go according to his idea, he says they’re like siblings and always joke around and that she gives him noogies and what not. He just refuses to understand that having sex with someone who’s just “like a sibling” basically nullifies the whole sibling thing. Am I being paranoid and overreacting or are my worries reasonable? Does he fail to understand because of moral differences or does he just not want to ? There’s nothing I can do because it’s his coworker, not like he can quit or stop contact with her completely. And I doubt he will be mature and set up really clear boundaries, if I asked him to I feel like he wouldn’t do it or not do it without throwing me under the bus and then if he does pin it on me “oh my wife doesn’t like me interacting with you” I’m sure I’ll be the gossip talk in the office and visiting him or attending events will be weird for a bit.

Hello!! I have a 2 ish yr old girl ball python in a 40 gallon enclosure. Our plan since we got her was to upgrade her enclosure as soon as she got the same length as it. We’ve been saving up for months to get a nice big one for her with adequate decoration and height since she’s super keen on climbing and exploring. She’s a spider morph with a mild wobble (we got her surrendered to us we did not buy her) But my partner and i recently found out we’re pregnant and it was completely unplanned. In a regular situation id just save up for the baby and get everything for our snake but we lost our job and have to move to another state to afford an apartment big enough for our baby. We have 2 puppies and 3 snakes so i don’t think we can afford to care for her anymore sadly as much as we love her we cannot give her the life she needs in the time frame she needs. I guess my question is how do I go about finding a new home for her? I’m worried i won’t find someone who knows enough about her morph or someone who won’t give her the space she needs. Does anyone know of any rescues in socal that are reputable?

2025.01.27 04:31 Ninjakittysdad RGB Program scanner? Does such a program exist?
Is there a program that can scan my PC and show me all the programs that might be installed that are currently interacting with my RGB? I ask because even though I swear up and down the only program I have installed is Armoury Crate, there seems to be a conflict with another mysterious program lurking in the shadows that is making the RGB either flicker or just shut off entirely.
