2025.01.27 04:41 FernTheShark frame drops in every game ever released of all types, probably because not enough power. how do i minimize this before i get a new psu? this is miserable
i upgraded my computer (basically everything, it's now the ship of theseus) on christmas, upgraded everything but the psu. i've noticed consistent frame drops in pretty much every game i play, no matter what it is or how intensive the graphics are, minus a few exceptions. i'm pretty sure it's a problem with my psu since my friend told me i need 550w but my psu only supplies 540w. does anyone know how i can minimize this issue before i get a new psu? specs: motherboard: MAG B550 TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI (thats a mouthful) cpu: ryzen 5 5600x gpu: radeon rx 6600 xt ram: 32gb 3200mhz ddr4

 | Both the Ashtray door and the socket door doesn't close. It just bounces back open after I try to close it. Is this some spring issue or something more complicated? So I’ve got a wonderful Haul ST with 1400 miles that’s never given me any issues. But, I recently got a new job where bike commuting is no longer feasible. The ST will probably see only 1-2 times of light use in a month for the foreseeable future.
My main concern is gradual degradation of the battery, so I’m thinking that it’s better to sell it rather than have it sit in the garage. Is the battery degrading a big enough reason to sell? It would be kept in the garage in a warm climate year round. I’ve already got an offer for $1800.

need unbiased opinions! I'm stuck between three places to live and everyone IRL is too involved to be unbiased. the three choices are Northern VA, Savannah GA, and Austin TX.
I was born and raised in northern va and my parents and siblings live here but I've had pretty terrible experiences and am actively working on it in therapy but honestly hate the place. the only reason to stay is the family and job market. I have virtually no experience or network outside of the region professionally.
my grandparents are in TX and they've been trying to get me to live there for the better part of a decade. I love to visit but am worried about excelling in a career the way I have in va. this is a huge downside because I'm very career oriented and have been very lucky and don't want to set myself back. I also have a dog - very sweet but with severe separation anxiety - and they love him and have already offered for us to stay in their guest house while I save to buy a house. that would be great to save money and it's far enough away from the main house that there's plenty of privacy. plus again probably my favorite people in the world.
last but not least is Savannah! I have lifelong friends there that have been trying to get me to move for last few years. when I've visited they've connected me with a few people professionally and I think I'd have good career progression here. plus I've ALWAYS wanted to live in a coastal/beachy place AND I love historical/downtown areas so the atmosphere is everything I could want.
VA is probably my best choice for my career, TX is the best choice for my personal life, and GA is a good medium between the two. it's hard because my grandparents aren't going to be around forever and I already go visit them 2-3x a year, savannah is essentially where I've always dreamed of living, and I'm very close with my parents and siblings plus my network is invaluable in va. I'm stuck!

I have mentioned this in other places, but it’s highly likely the mountain lions got her. I am not sure why this has gotten so out of control with rumors and gossip when ultimately, by now, someone would have said something.
I ran into one a few months ago before these fires. Sounded like meowing coming from the bushes. Elaine was a cat-person. She most likely got curious, wandered in and got killed.
If you’re wondering why a body hasn’t been found, there’s been a fire in Solstice Canyon and after multiple FOIA’s I can tell you nobody searched the park. Dry Canyon isn’t a trail anyone really takes, and there’s enough brush all over to hide bones — let alone all the critters who are going to eat you up. Likewise, the fire was hot enough to melt metal back in 2018 — so whatever was left likely got turned to dust.
This is really a more cautionary tale about jumping to conclusions, a poor investigation and just one of many reasons to not go places alone.
