Honestly, the idea that nobody is entitled to anything never matched my values, as I've always believed people are entitled to love, respect, fair treatment and a lack of suffering if it doesn't infringe on the rights of others ("rights" themselves are complicated though, with many ways of defining and prioritising them). To me, I owe a friend my love and they are entitled to be treated well, to be seen as a person, to be safe and many other things. But then I see "Nobody owes you anything", "you're not entitled to anything" etc. "Entitled to" means "having the right or permission to do something" (Collins Dictionary. eg "You are entitled to a refund") or "if you are entitled to something, you have the right to have it or do it." (Merriam Webster) or "to give someone the right to do or have something" (Cambridge Dictionary). This advice is often given to people who are struggling in some aspect of life compared to other people or who are or have missed out things in life and are unhappy or angry about it.
However, to pursue something you have to have some level of feeling entitled to it. You have to feel entitled to deserving to chase more in life. When people campaign for better rights for themselves - say, the right to vote - they're being entitled by thinking they deserve the right to vote. When someone goes to a doctor (say, about their eye) and they ask for a referral to a specialist, they are showing entitlement to believe they deserve the medical care. If you text someone, you feel entitled to taking some of their attention away with your communication and entitled to social connection.
Likewise, to have boundaries you have to believe you're entitled. For example, if you do work and your employer doesn't pay you, for you to demand pay or for you to take legal action against them, you have to believe you're entitled to being paid the agreed wage and are "owed" the money - but if were true that we shouldn't feel entitled to anything and that nobody owes us anything, then this wouldn't be true.

2025.01.27 04:44 itsjohnnyde Yard is too large, and gardeners are too much. I'd like to kill everything on the property (other than potential stray cats) so I can do a one and done situation. Doesn't need to be perfect.
Father in law suggested using diesel fuel to soak the soal and kill everything. I cannot fathom how that can be a good idea.
Every herbicide that is recommended to me is banned in California. If I spend a weekend pulling everything out, it's back in a month.

I'm (17f) addicted to my phone. I have always been a sharp student and scored good in my exams. ..but, since Covid lockdown, everything went downhill. Classes were online,and that gave me access to a phone and I got addicted. I played games during classes , never completed my work, and eventhhough i made realistic plans,i could never follow it and ended up half-assing things before deadlines.
Passed 10th boards somehow. Even then, I had 4-5 days gap between each paper, but spent the first 4 days scrolling and procrastinating, and studied just the night before the exam, with just 2 hour sleep. I vowed to stop this before each paper, but could never.
Same thing happened in 11th. Woke up, scrolled endlessly, didn't study. I got addicted to character ai and manga/webcomics. I'm in 12th rn, all my friends are scoring way better than me, my parents are expecting so much, but I'm just failing everyone's expectations. Lying when I get low marks. I know it's wrong, but I just can't stop. I'm addicted. Screen time is around 11-12 hours everyday, study time is 0.i scroll with stress,i know it's harming me,but can't stop. I have a major exam coming up in 3 months and my boards in 17 days. I make so many planners,but fail to follow each one. Idk what to do now..please help.
Tldr: can't study, addicted to my phone, character ai,etc .can't follow planners. Please help me to get rid of this addiction.

Some have told me to get a masters in cybersecurity, but I’ve been told to aim for an mba since I’m already in the field and I can learn.
But, I’ve been told to look at more expensive schools like Texas A&M and more. I’ve been told since I’m single with no kids there is no reason why I should go to WGU and it would be a bad look when I apply for companies.

I’ve been attempting to find a novel I’m fairly certain I read through the Reaperscans site if anyone could help me find it.
The main character isekais into the body of an infamous professor. He’s only gotten where he is by stealing the research of another character’s father (and she hates him for it, she’s the meta “real mc”). His main powers are understanding (which is used for the theory he didn’t understand) and telekinesis on a special metal he carries with him because he doesn’t have the ability to use higher magics.
I also remember that the body he inhabits was very OCD and the MC deals with a lot of obsessive compulsive cleaning/tics. His noble family is only 1 sister and him, and he later finds out his sister isn’t actually part of the family but still lets her fully inherit the family’s noble title.
Does anyone have any idea what this could be? It’s driving me crazy trying to find it, hopefully it’s not just still on the site and my eyes are skipping over it.

Hi everyone… so my bf broke up with me yesterday after 6 years. I will admit those six years weren’t perfect. I’ve noticed from the beginning my bf had problems with his emotions. It took a while for us to become official bc he was afraid due to a past ex who hurt him. I still was patient and eventually we became official and as time went on we had a lot of ups and downs. We did long distance for a year bc we were both in the military and started living together in 2020. In the first half of our relationship he emotionally cheated on me with a girl from his hometown for a couple of weeks and I found out and found out he was hiding other stuff on his phone like tinder and adult videos. He agreed to get help and we stayed together and for a while he really did improve and we were a lot happier and things were okay for a good while. But every now and then we would get into fights that would sometimes just be bickering and other times would end with us yelling at each other and him throwing something or leaving our apartment for a few hours. Yesterday we had the worst fight and it got physical bc he was screaming in my face about how much I nag him and that I think I’m better than everyone and he threw his bowl of cereal. Mind you he has memory problems from the military and I have to constantly remind him of stuff but he also gets mad if I just remind him to empty the dishwasher. My sister lives with us and I don’t have family bc my mom died and my dad is in Illinois where we’re from but we aren’t close. My bf left yesterday and had his phone off all day and i was calling and texting him apologizing and worrying where he was. Today I did the same and he texted me saying he didn’t want to talk on the phone only text. I said no bc I want to actually talk and he said if I don’t want to text then we can talk later in public… he still has all his stuff here too and I don’t drive and neither of us have money right now. I hate I’m coming to Reddit with this but this all happened so fast and I’m really struggling. I know it all seems so bad and I probably look stupid for staying so long. Please be nice bc I really did love him and I’m hurting so much and trying not to be stressed bc we have two cats together too and I’m so sad for them. I really think this might be the end but he made it seem like he was willing to talk eventually but idek if I should bc it seems like this just keeps happening :( I’ve given so much to this relationship and he has too but I can’t handle his yelling and ego he has about stuff and how he won’t admit he is being super mean. I really tried reaching out just for him to be mean today and I’m really at my wits end with how to feel. I feel so lost… my sister is my rock and I hate how far I let this get bc I know there were signs that he wasn’t being a great bf at times but we really did do a lot better after he went to therapy and stuff. I hate this I feel scared of the future and the thought of possibly having to move my whole life back to my hometown after this is stressing me out… is it dumb to keep hoping the person will grow more with communication or should I just accept the end? 2025.01.27 04:44 Salt-Specialist-8638 Using a scary event that happened for a story.
Basically we went somewhere abandoned at night basically and got into a dangerous situation where there were multiple men in the dark around us and we're watching us. I honestly think the only reason we made out in one piece is because ours phones were being tracked, I fake called someone, and had a knife in my hand ready to basically shank someone, I was very jumpy to say the least.
After I couldn't stop thinking about it, and I got story inspiration from it for a werid reason and ended up make a basic storyline off it, and then I got permission from said friend to actually write it.
I made the characters different from us appearance wise and such, and basically detached myself and her from the characters, the only qualities that are in common are personality.
And then boom I had a story where 2 19 year olds decided to be stupid and go to a old abandoned institution right as it became night and they encounter people that turned out to be aliens that Infected people.
The 2 started running, and then lily got pulled back by one of the infect and got bit on the shoulder, Zane just kept running, and got back to the car and ends up waiting, because she hasn't seen the infected, and because she wanted to see if lily would leave alive.
It's not clear how lily made it to the car, but she was injured, so she ended up going with Zane just to a convenient store, getting some stuff there to treat said wounds, and they refused to speak about it to others due to not wanting to view as insane.
Then when the infected are actually discovered, the infected reek havoc, and instead of staying near the abandoned institution and getting consistent from via fools who'd go to it, they spread, going where there was food(humans)
And as everything goes to trash, lily start to relize somthing isn't right with her, and being her she ignores it.
One thing led to another and lily very quickly found out she was infected, but some type of variant of infected, which she kept to herself until, Zane found out
And that the gist, I think that I'll add them surviving the apocalypse but regardless.
I double checked with my friend about it to make sure they were still ok and were ok with me making a comic strip and character concepts as well, they were fine and I even let them pick what Zane would wear at the beginning and during the Apocalypse.
Anyways, I'd like some feed back if anyone is willing to give me some.

So the cover art is a house ontop a hill with a windmill, but like an old windmill not a modern day one. And there is another hill past the first one almost making the hill in the back look like a mountain. The house and windmill - I believe is white/tan. And the sky is either pure white or white with some grayish clouds. Not to mention the cover art is entirely made of water color painting of some sorts.
I don’t know any of the lyrics nor do I know the artists name, but the genre is kind of like “fantasy/fiction” and felt like it brings you to a “fantasyland”.
It is more modern I’d say somewhere between 2015 - 2024.
Again I don’t know much other than the cover art.
This song isn’t an album more like a single and it’s sung by someone foreign, but has nothing to with anime and is in English. And seems to be composed by someone other than the singer herself.
The only instrument I remember is at the beginning and it’s a flute, there are more but I forgot.
