For a little background, my partner (32 M) and I (34 F) recently had an offer accepted on our first house together. Our currently living situation is becoming toxic, so the choice to buy was a bit unplanned (we intended to wait another year or two). We scraped our pennies together to put in this offer. I haven’t told many of my family members yet, only because I want to wait until escrow closes and the house is officially ours. As of now closing date looks to be around Feb/10 with move in on the 15th.
Now for the situation- I am a bridesmaid in my cousin’s (32 F) wedding, coming May 2025. I was texting my cousin about housing for the wedding weekend. I had said I planned to come down on Friday for rehearsal alone (without my partner and our two toddlers) and stay in the hotel. My partner would come to the wedding Saturday and we would drive home that night after the wedding. I explained that we wanted to save money by only buying one night in the hotel instead of two. Her wedding is in a pretty rural, high end location. For a two night stay in the rooms nearby it would cost from $700-1000.
I told my cousin the reason for my penny pinching was the purchase of our house. She seemed really excited for us. I explained I already have the things paid for her bachelorette party and have money set aside for spending on the trip. She wasn’t worried about it at all. Overall, the purchase of our house won’t interfere with my bridesmaids duties; We just want to save on a hotel since we just spent so much on a house and we will be navigating a new budget around that same time.
I told another family member about the conversation and they accused me of “making the weekend about me.” Saying I shouldn’t have shared my big news so close to the bachelorette trip (exactly one month from now) and I shouldn’t be asking for pity during someone else’s wedding.
I didn’t think I was asking for pity, and I had made it clear I was still fully able to participate and contribute to the bachelorette weekend. I just wanted to explain my situation to a cousin (the bride) I am close to. My cousin didn’t seem upset, but now I’m wondering if I should’ve just kept the information to myself.
So, AITA for telling the bride about my situation?

Honestly my relationship with my ex was a mess. We were on and off for a year, then broke up for good for a year, and then started dating again. Things were slightly better the 2nd time around but I felt there was too much wrong and too much things from the past I couldn’t get over so I broke up with him. Well apparently we were just falling into that on and off cycle again because 2 months later I was dating him again. He asked me in that 2 months we were broken up if I had dated or slept with anyone else. I told him yes I did and he got so upset with me. He was telling me how his friends all told him to forget me because I moved on but he “knew” I wouldn’t do that to him. Then he started asking me a whole bunch of questions about how did I meet him, have we been in contact, how did we go from being strangers to having sex, what positions did we do, did he cum in or on me, and a few other questions that felt degrading to be asked. Honestly the way he spoke it sounds like he felt like I cheated on him. I answered everything except the specific sex stuff because I just didn’t see how it was relevant. He told me he doesn’t feel like I cheated because he knew we were broken up but that he always knew we’d get back together again so he was hurt I’d do this knowing we’d get back together.
I broke up with him a few months later for a different reason but this experience stuck out in my mind. Was I wrong here? Genuinely when I broke up with him I didn’t think I’d ever see or talk to him again. The only reason he was back in my life in the first place after a year of no contact, was bc I had been through some deeply traumatic life events and he happened to come back around at the time, and he was familiar and comfortable even though it was toxic.
He was a pretty controlling person and didn’t want me to have much of a life outside of him, he didnt take me on dates often but didn’t like when I went out with my friends, he didn’t want me wearing “revealing” clothing like skinny jeans, he didn’t like when I’d say no to sex or when I’d tell him that he hurt me on accident. That last part might sound bad but it’s more like he just wasn’t ever really happy with me when he’d get horny around me and couldn’t do anything about it. And then for the second part there was a few times he’d accidentally go to hard in bed and it would scare me but he’d tell me that he could tell by my reactions that I was enjoying myself. Honestly he was my first sexual partner so I figured he was right. I know this maybe sounds like why tf did I stay with him so long and that’s a question I ask myself too. But did I fuck up in this situation?

People often complain that wagecucking is not what they want to do. Also that subreddit is being infested with normies and newcomers who do not share the culture of neetdom and its ideals and values.
It made me think that we neets actually have a point. The history of humankind isn't filled with only slave labor and peasants, there were many societies who looked at the concept of working with contempt.
The highest classes of any civilization basically do not work, be it ancient rulers or nowadays capitalist bourgeois. They delegate this task to us, lower casts. What about thinkers and mediums? Ancient Greek philosopers didn't work either, they had slaves for that. Buddhists monks do not work too, they live on donations. Needless to say, nobody seriously expects from millionaire star bloggers to get a job and make a career. They don't work manual jobs, they are "creators" and "performance artists", whose mere presence on a stage costs money. Yes I understand that they put work and effort to make art, but the concept has been made even more clear with the rise of tiktokers and half naked streamers who contribute nothing.
But then again, we are the ones to be berated and scolded to get a job or else our society collapses.

For context: I'm estranged from our parents, because they abused me and not my sister. My sister knows, but refuses to address it, even if I approach it sympathetically. She goes on holidays my parents pay for and that makes me feel some kind of way, etc. BUT, my sister can be very supportive in some big ways, like she helped take care of me when I had a major surgery last year - I really appreciate that!
Now, my partner and I have been together for almost five years, and my sister hasn't made any effort to get to know her or include her.
Meanwhile my partner and I have made a LOT of effort to include and befriend my sister's husband. He'll show up, but he's kind of self centered and won't make an effort to get to know you. If we don't invite him, he won't put in any effort at all, he won't even text us to ask how we're doing. So we've both given up on him.
I think it's really unfair that I put so much effort into befriending and including my sister's husband and my sister hasn't made even a token effort to get to know my partner.
I've never brought this up with my sister, but I didn't think I needed to! I thought it went without saying?
So the combination of this, and the awkward situation with our parents, is making me not want to hang out with my sister at all. We both want to maintain our relationship despite the situation with our parents. But I think in order for that to happen, I need her to start making some effort with my partner.
Is that a reasonable thing to say? If she says no, or doesn't do it (which I think is likely), where do I draw the line? Do we just hang out at christmas?
