I don't remember the name. The story involved people being transported to game like worlds. The main character had a watch(?) or something that gave them more time in the worlds. One was a driving game set in Tokyo in the 80s I believe, and there was a very long pirate arc (that's were it was when I lost track of it). Sorry that's all I can remember. Hoping someone knows it. I was supposed to have an interview with Goldman Sachs today at 3 PM for an Operational Analyst role. I spent the last four days studying like crazy, preparing for everything I could think of.
Then, this morning at 11 AM, I got an email saying they’ve decided to move in a different direction. No interview, no chance to even speak to them. The least they could do was hear me out.
It just sucks. Feeling pretty defeated right now.

I got a bit carried away modding the Sharp Eye game. I had an idea and just went with it, researching how to accomplish each of the features I wanted it to have. It is still a relatively simple game about getting the position of a blinking object right, in this case " =Ф ェ Ф= " AKA a deadly tiger.
Features :
  • First I found out how to run the game again after each turn, containing it into a function I could keep on calling with a while loop, that would stop when the fight had a winner.
  • I wanted to have some sort of colorful "graphics", I achieved this using ANSI escape codes, ASCII emojis, and a lot of 'W's for the grass. Also making use of Clear Screen to change the frames of the fight. i also learned to create strings from a repeating character, and vectors.
  • I used the Random numbers to position the Tiger, I first use the X coordinate to create a string using a formula I made up to print the tiger among the grass. I then use the Y coordinate to print this string instead of the corresponding row contained in a Vector that holds rows of only grass (WWWWW).
  • I added a Health counter that measures hits and misses with ❤s . Then some other details to make it more challenging and fun, like a function to speed it up with each turn, and another one that hides the coordinates on the third turn. I then had to stop to post it in time.

I’ve been vegan for about six months, and I thought I was handling it well. But today, sitting in a waiting room, I just about lost it.
Someone walked in with a leather bag from "Meanwhile Back on the Farm," a stupid fucking brand we have in my snobby pretentious town that makes money pretty much solely from slaughtered animals, and I asked how she justifies walking around with cow skin just to carry her phone and snotty tissues (I was much nicer about it then). Her response? "Leather is just a byproduct." NO. THE. F***. IT. ISN’T.
Leather production funds animal agriculture. It’s not just some waste product—it’s a revenue stream that keeps the industry alive. If leather were just an afterthought, its market demand wouldn’t directly impact how many animals are slaughtered. But it does. The industry thrives on it. And people still make excuses. HOW FUCKING ARROGANT
Then there’s the constant reminder everywhere—those “cute” little pig and cow paintings on BBQ restaurant walls, as if the animals were happy to be butchered. Meanwhile, I can almost hear their screams and smell their blood and fear.
On top of all that, I’m in PA school, and every single luncheon, lunch and learn, meeting, etc is solely based on meat. Today we had Chick-fil-A, and it made me want to puke. I feel sick. I can’t even be around my friends because they’re so fucked stupid and can’t comprehend how sinful all of this is. The world just feels so fucked up, and there’s nothing I can do about it.
I use social media to push back against this, to wake people up, but today it feels like too much. But if I delete it, I might come compliant and forget how terrible the industry is and slip back into my old habits of eating meat. How do you cope with the sheer ignorance and cruelty that surrounds us every single day? Because right now, I feel like I can’t. i just fucking can't
