2025.02.01 18:42 Honkmaster When compiling a video from multiple sources, each with different audio quality/volume, what are some good tools to make it sound more consistent?
I've been using Cool Edit Pro for like 25 years now haha, so I know my way around the basics of audio editing. But altering EQ is where I meet my limit.
Sometimes I'll try evening out the volume by amplifying the clips that are low until they're about even with the rest, but the result can still sound "low" in parts. Or at least, it'll sound "off."
I'm wondering if there's an easier way to tackle this problem than my ancient software. Certain AI-driven tools do pretty great work with medial. I figured I'd ask if anyone has any recommendations for better normalization of inconsistent audio. It doesn't need to be perfect! These are casual videos, so I'd prefer a convenient solution over a perfect one.

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice on my current work situation. I work for a small e-commerce company in California, and things have been challenging. About two years ago, the entire e-commerce team started leaving, and within six months, they were all gone. I was originally hired as a systems engineer, but since I was the only one who knew how to code, I gradually took on more responsibilities to fill the gaps.
About a year ago, I started handling all the tasks of the entire e-commerce department. I offered to rebuild and lead the team, which was supposed to come with a new title and a raise. My CEO agreed but tied it to the successful completion of a specific project. I completed that project months ago, but he keeps moving the goalposts, saying it wasn’t exactly what he expected or finding new excuses.
I’ve done more in the past 8 months than the previous team did in over two years. Everyone at the company agrees I should get the recognition, and they’ve praised my work. My manager also fully supports me getting the raise. However, the CEO still hasn’t followed through, and at this point, I’ve lost trust in him. Even if I were to get the title and raise now, I’ve made up my mind to find a new company.
I’m now at a crossroads:
- I can revert to my original job description, which would mean much less stress, more free time, and a better work-life balance. But I worry that stepping back might put me under scrutiny and risk losing my job, which I can’t afford right now.
- I can continue in my current role while actively searching for a new opportunity, even though it’s becoming increasingly frustrating.
- Since my manager agrees I deserve the raise, I could schedule a meeting with both him and the CEO to push for it. But I fear that, like the first option, this could backfire, leading to more delays or even putting a target on my back.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? How did you handle it? Any advice on balancing job security while searching for something better?

Hey PFC friends,
Recently decided to focus on my wealth building at age 29.
Finance is as follows:
$98k TFSA portfolio, holding only 6: VFV (biggest holding at 55k), XEQT: (23k), rest of it is ENB, TD, VDY, QQC.
I have also $31k sitting in a wealthsimple cash account with 2.75% interest (dropped from 4%).
Anyone have any ideas on what I can do now in terms of increasing my wealth?
Every month I have $1500 saved after my expenses left over.
Any tips would be appreciated.
