2025.02.01 19:30 Magical_critic [Q] which math course will be more helpful in the long run as a stats major?
I was a former math major and fulfilled most of my lower division requirements (calculus 1-4, discrete math 1-2, linear algebra, diffy eqs, a course using maple, and an upper div biological math course) but I couldn't stand the proof based upper division math courses which is why I am making the change to statistics. Originally I was going to take 2 statistics courses for the upcoming semester but unfortunately I am only allowed to take one statistics course, so I'm figuring out what to fill the second slot with. I'm debating filling the second slot with either a course in Set Theory or Discrete Mathematics. Although I have seen content in both courses already, I figured this would be a good opportunity to brush up on my proof writing skills as it is to my understanding that statistics programs still require proofs (although they're not as rigorous as those seen in a math program). On the one hand, I think Set Theory would be better to practice proofs as set theory is the basis for all math but Discrete Mathematics focuses on combinatorics and counting which I believe is essential for probability stuff (even though I already took Discrete Math, I'm also terrible at counting so I think this would be a good refresher too). Do you guys have any advice on the conundrum I see myself in?

 | Won’t lemme post a video so random aquarium photo it is. Anyways I’ve recently upgraded from the Aqueon 20 to the 30 however this one legit will not stop rumbling it’s so loud, my tank is in my bedroom and I can barely sleep because of it, I took it out n put back in the Aqueon 20 which is dead silent. I’ve contacted Aqueon and they didn’t say why it’s doing this or how to fix it they jus issued me a free one, any advice?? Hello. I am posting this question for my fiancée non-redditor, 34F.
My fiancée has been on Junel for most of her life and has recently been switched to Aurovela. Due to ovarian cysts, she takes daily birth control for 3 months, then has a cycle. After of last cycle she made the switch, this is her first time period since. After approximately 10 days without medication, she is getting many of her symptoms of her cycle without having an actual flow. She is extremely bloated, tender, spotted a couple times but it went away.
She has never missed having a period before and was obviously quite nervous about being pregnant. We tested and it was negative.
Has anyone had a similar experience, whether making this same switch or making the switch via different medication? Just trying to put her mind at easy that her body is just adjusting and everything should be settle in due time.
She does have doctors appointments coming up where she can of course talk this through if there are alarming side effects. But she just wants to hear from others to make sure she isn't experiencing some unique phenomenon.
