dropped from plat 3 to gold 2 today. not saying I’m not part of the problem, but it’s so frustrating getting matched up with people clearly testing out characters in comp who go 4 and 12 with 5 different DPS characters. and Strange’s who keep trying to portal into immediate death.

2025.02.01 20:40 Its_Me_SpecialK Anyone else notice the rhythmic guitar at 4:30 in Soldiers of the Wasteland sounds “strikingly similar” to Hallowed be Thy Name by Iron Maiden?
My 4 month old was sleeping on me and he likes rock playing lightly in the background. I’ve been on a DragonForce kick lately and while Soldiers of the Wasteland was playing that part started and it hit me that I’ve heard that rhythm before. It took some pondering but I finally was able to dial in, it sounds just like Hallowed be Thy Name by Iron Maiden!
Anyway. I just thought it was interesting and was curious if anyone else had noticed.

Hello there, I've been reading fanfics for more than a decade and globally I can say that most of them are pretty simple. Perhaps the plot is complicated and the emotion is high but all those thing are on a surface level, so to speak. I always feel like there is some sort of varnish on fanfictions stories that keep them from ever getting the same seriousness than original ones, even stories with no comedy.
On the other hand, original stories tends to have some deeper meaning, theme that the plot touch. For example the manga Naruto speak of the cycle of hatred, of loneliness, of reaching for your dreams etc.
So I'm looking for stories like that. Stories that made you think about something meaningfully.

2025.02.01 20:40 Justsk8n Just got my best time, with only 2 combinations... never been so pained
This run was, by far, the most fucked up experience I've ever had in MS. I went for blaster, Supernova, And perpetual engine. Got the first 2 fairly quickly, and the run was going insanely well, first special was bouquet, kept getting unreal artifact luck, really good special magics, etc. except, as I reached level 95, I was still missing a level of intelligence somehow. Which hey, no biggee, still 5 levels. Except, despite rerolling 3 times in every single level from 95-99, I never got the last one. except of course, when it offered me it on level 100. When I wouldn't Have any spare levels to actually combine. I searched for so many outs, looked for tarot cards, would have chosen akashic record if I go them, hoped to get the doctor upgrade, anything. but none showed. And yet, the nuild, with all the artifacts I got, gaia, titan, a 101% crown, etc. somehow, literally not having a third Combination didn't even matter, and I still got my best time of 45 mins on depths. And it just left me so frustrated because I know if I had actually gotten it, combined with the luck of that run, I could have hit 50 mins.
