I (26F) am finding it really hard to move forward in my relationship with my parents after an incredibly painful experience, and I’m looking for some advice or similar experiences from others who’ve dealt with something like this. About a year and a half ago, I visited my parents, who live two hours away. While I was there, I was working remotely and made it clear to my mom that I needed privacy, especially during calls. Yet, in the middle of an important call with executives, my mom walked into the room to ask me a question. I was really frustrated because it made me look unprofessional in front of my colleagues. After the call, I confronted her and asked why she ignored my request for privacy. What followed was a huge argument. They accused me of being disrespectful, called me a liar, and even threatened to call the cops over this “incident.” I was so hurt and angry that I packed up and left immediately, refusing to speak to them after the things they said.
Then, a few weeks later, my fiancé proposed to me. I was overjoyed, but what hurt was that my parents didn’t reach out at all. No check-in, no congratulations, nothing. Before the fight, my fiancé had gone out of his way to tell them about the proposal and the exact date, so it wasn’t like they didn’t know. They also knew I was finishing my master’s thesis, graduating, and starting my PhD, so it felt even more isolating that they didn’t acknowledge any of these milestones. I couldn’t reach out to them either because I didn’t know what to say. “Hey, I know you insulted me and threatened to call the cops, but I’m engaged”? It just felt too painful.
After several months, they finally got in touch. I told them about the proposal and my milestones, and instead of offering a congratulations or an apology, they exploded, asking why I hadn’t told them. I was floored. How could they expect me to reach out after everything they said?
A year passed with no communication. They didn’t reach out for holidays, birthdays, or any of my accomplishments. I felt completely alone during some of the biggest moments of my life. I had to attend my graduation with just my fiancé. I never celebrated my engagement because there was no family around. It was heartbreaking, and it felt like I was missing out on the support and love that should’ve been there.
Finally, after a year, they have now tried to make amends. My dad started visiting me, and they even brought me a huge bouquet to celebrate my graduation. We had a long, emotional conversation where they apologized, and said that they were going though “tough time.” I would them that was no excuse for abandoning me for so long. They even offered to pay for my wedding (which I know they can’t afford), but I didn’t accept
We’ve started seeing each other again on occasion, but things are definitely not the same. I can’t shake the anger and hurt I feel, even though they’ve been trying to be nice. There’s so much built-up resentment, and sometimes I lash out, even when they’re trying to be better. Recently, my mom commented something sweet on my cousin’s engagement post, and it triggered me. Why is she there for everyone but me? It hurts knowing she can be so present for others but couldn’t be there for me during the biggest moments of my life.
I’ve been in therapy for a year, and it’s been helpful, but I still have a long way to go. My fiancé thinks I need to accept that they missed everything and move on, but I’m really struggling with that. I can’t get over the fact that they let a small argument spiral into this year-long silence. It’s like I’m grieving the family I thought I had—the one that would’ve been there to celebrate my biggest moments with me.
So, I’m at a crossroads. Should I work on rebuilding my relationship with them, keep them at a distance, or cut them off for good? How do you forgive parents who abandoned you during significant milestones?
Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated.

175lbs, 6ft tall
No prior medical issues.
I don't work out but I'm a construction plumber so I'm quite active during the day.
I have inflammation and some excess fat around my gut area and some mild gynecomastia. I have a somewhat unhealthy relationship with food in that I eat 4 meals a day, half of which is junk food. I saw a video on YouTube of a guy that only consumed water, salt, and electrolytes for 7 days and looked fantastic after. I have never (in my life) gone more than maybe 15 hours without food.
Would it be dangerous/recommended to try this? I did some preliminary research about what to eat after a fast and what to expect with weight loss/gain. I'm really not looking for life-changing results, maybe a 10% difference to what I see in the mirror now and a different perspective on my diet capabilities.
Any advice would be awesome, thank you.

Excellent bread, and great deals during half-price hour, but it seems that a cashier made a mistake in ringing the total.
Was at the Breadworks bakery on North Side on Saturday Feb 1 at 1 PM, during half-time pricing, and asked for all the corn rye loaves that one is allowed to purchase, given there is a limit of $30 per person per purchase. Was given 9 loaves, and the price for the total told to me was $31. I looked up online the price of the corn rye loaf, at it is $6.20 per loaf. Why was i told to pay $31 for 9 loaves? it seems that it for the $31 amount paid, there should have been 31 loaves. Did the cashier made a mistake? If I got 9 loaves for $31 at half price, then it means that the full price per loaf was 6.8888888889, which obviously ain't right.

Long story short been working with a guy for 4 years but he wa my shift opposite now we work together due to short stuff past couple of months and it's been strange because underlying has anger issues I feel or depression which is understandabke but it's just a negative demeanor and vibe in the workplace.
Went to work yesterday I work with the same coworker every shift. He has a negative attitude and hates his life and becomes aggressive and passive about everything. We have a no violence and respect policy so everyone and him have to be careful. He has these ticks, smacks surfaces, complains, and gets passive angry all the time. Good worker, but he is hard to work with and yesterday he was just bitter on our first shift for no reason, maybe some home issues, and I didn't appreciate being around the guy at all. It's making me not want to work at this job anymore, but I've been there 10 years total in different roles and I'm grateful to have a steady stable job/career. I called in sick this weekend and used a couple sick days because my mental health suffered just after one shift. I work 3x12s. I was quite tired and had my eyes closed on my break and he came in and stomped on the floor out of no where for no reason and really just can't understand someone's behavior.
Anyways it's been a couple months working with the guy and I may have to do something about it as it was okay at first but can't be around someone so negative & passiveit's ridiculous. I can trade workers certain shifts but it's gonna be a pay cut and a change of schedule plus an intense workload which isn't desirable. So less pay, more work. This is a union job and it's hard for others to get fired for doing anything wrong.
I just end up feeling low, depressed and lethargic on work shifts from the exhaustion and developing chronic pain tied to mental health.
I'm not sure what to do in kind of venting.. but I'm curious how do I approach my supervisors or union about this sort of manner as this guy is playing it smart and doing subtle things to negate getting in any sort of trouble.

I have a 85k free night award from the Chase/Ritz Carlton card. I found a hotel - regular Marriott - that in NYC that is 50k points for the night - no view. If you pay $20 + 50k points you get a partial water view. $40 + 50k points gets a full water view.
I'd like the $40 + 50k full water view. Sure, I'm leaving 35k points of the FNA on the table but I'm ok with that. Will Marriott allow this? How naive of me. If you're using a FNA you're not allowed to do a cash upgrade and have a nice view, dumpster view only. Thanks Marriott. Add that to the 3 Ritz Carlton Club upgrades I can never used because the dates are always "blacked out by the property". I guess I'm the fool for not leaving.
