2024.11.25 12:35 TTTMUW Non BA, DA, BT, SW Melee focused competitive list. Worth it? Possible?
Is there any point in trying to do a melee focus on a competitive side of things without going into one of these factions? I love the thought of jump pack assault intercessors, on foot ones, and bladeguard lead by a justicar.
The issue is without going into one of these obvious factions it's impossible to compete. Their specific units and characters that are set to lead melee focused units are just too good. 10th is supposed to be the edition where it doesn't matter what color you paint things, but it still fully pushes you into a certain sub faction when you want to run a specific style of list, detachment aside.
I love my smurfs, and they are obviously the best option given they actually have more than one character for generic space marines, but if I want to play raven guard, and give myself a lore reason they would be going melee instead of range, well... get rekt I guess. You get one character, who isn't meant to lead those type of units, and that's it.
This isn't meant to be a whining post, I'm just trying to figure out how to make a list work with something I like on the table, while also being competitive, since I enjoy going to events and placing well. Even in my "casual" games, all of my friends and I use well tuned lists, with tournament prep in mind, as that's what we like to do. This isn't my first army, and I already have a massive amount of space marine units to paint up, although I've never played them more than twice at the beginning of the edition using a 1k UM list. (Guard is still my main faction with over 20k pts and where is put most of my focus)
Am I just asking too much from a game system? Wanting to change the core ideals of a sub-faction to be something it isn't?
EDIT: my main reason for not wanting to go into those factions honestly I don't love a lot of their aesthetics or I already have an army that is similar in look I like more. (Grey Knights with their lackluster melee 😭)
TLDR: is it possible/and/or worth it to go generic Space Marines, into a melee focused build while keeping the list competitive enough to play at a GT?

Hello, everybody. I am just a silent reader, but I now have a question for anyone with some knowledge of keyless entry systems in cars. So, cars these days that have keyless entry are not supposed to lock themselves from the inside while the key is inside it, right? I have a car from 2020 which has keyless entry, but one day, I discovered that if I unlock the car, keep the key inside the car and then just simply close the door without touching the handle or anything, the car simply locks itself WITH the key fob inside it in 20-30 seconds.
I took it to the service centre guys, but the service mechanic said that apparently, it is a feature that if you unlock the car and do not sit inside or anything and just leave the key inside, the car automatically locks itself, thinking nobody is inside, even though the key is right inside.
My question to anyone who can help me with this: Is that actually how it should happen/s? Is any car with keyless entry supposed to lock itself under any conditions with the key inside it? I need some knowledge regarding this since the service guys simply aren't accepting this as a fault in the system and are instead telling it off as a "feature" to prevent theft, which I refuse to believe. So let me start this by saying this hasn’t happened yet but it is being talked about and my ex MIL is an absolute legend. My ex husband 33(m) we’ll call him Bob for the story and His fiancee 30 (f) (we’ll call her Karen because honestly it fits) they have been together for roughly 4 years now and the drama has been endless. Im 27 (f) and our son is 8 we were married in 2015 and divorced in 2017 not a long time but I digress. Karen has 2 daughters of her own who she left to be with Bob and hasn’t been the greatest at taking care of her own children since the beginning of the relationship and has tried to take my spot as mother to mine and bobs child I simply cannot let that happen and shut that down the moment that it was brought to my attention by my 8 year old son which was 7 at the time that has ended but something new has started to brew and this is where it gets hot I have an amazing relationship with the Ex MIL I solely communicate with her about my son because she isn’t one for drama and still loves me dearly a lot has changed and she has seen me grow and because a young woman and a strong mother but this makes Karen very very unhappy that I am able to provide for my son and she can’t do the same because she refuses to get a job. So this is truly not my problem. My parents the ex mil and I agreed to all chip in to get my son a gaming system for his big gift from Santa for Christmas. Karen is in a rage because he getting something she couldn’t afford for her own children that are not in house may I add that little detail there. She has gone has far as telling Bob he’s only allowed to buy what she deems appropriate amount of gifts for mine and his son. She even demanded that they are to move closer to her family and more tea here her family doesn’t want her there or really care for her decisions she’s made . She has become an absolute menace to my ex mil she attacks me every chance she gets. My ex mil rises to the occasion. Every time she stands up for me, tells her that she needs to shut her mouth and that I have done more for my child than she can ever dream of and he is able to do more things because his mommy is there to do for him, unlike her daughters not having their mommy that she is to not disrespect me or throw my name out in negative lighting unless she is going to change her situation. So I meet up with my parents for dinner and they lighten me that it is become a huge problem with her constantly being jealous of an eight-year-old boy and taking control of bob’s finances he is the breadwinner and she has no job. She’s tired of the demanding. She’s tired of her not having a job and she’s tired of her drama so she’s waiting until after Christmas and she’s going to start sabotaging the engagement between her son and his fiancé and I am her 100%, agree with her behavior I have not agreed with her since the beginning of everything I do not like how she treats Bob I do not like how she treats the mother-in-law and I do not like how she speaks poorly of me and it absolutely irks me that she could be jealous of an 8 year old so AITA for backing my ex mil to end my ex husband’s engagement?
