Asking for a friend. He's an officer in the Air Force (fighter pilot). Graduated from a tier-1 institute. Joined the Air Force Academy straight out of college. He has served for about 5-6 years.
He wants to know if his profile is too unconventional for an Indian B-school and if or not recruiters prefer people from his background.

2024.11.25 21:51 Historical-Handle525 Thoughts after pugging every healer to 2k+

So a bit about my background...I have played this game since launch and have healed in every expansion (taking several extended breaks as life needed at the time). Did periods of raiding...pvp...m+, some serious (got CE once), some casual mostly as a resto druid. I have always loved healing, and I am quite experienced at it.
This season since it was so easy to level alts, I have pugged every healer to 2000, shaman to 2600 (all 10s) and evoker to 2500. I wanted to give a little bit of a review on how this season went, as well as things I noticed or experienced. Note that this will be the experience of someone that is pugging and not pushing high keys with a coordinated group, so realize that players will be expected to make mistakes.
The biggest change so far, is the sheer amount of real-time mob information and awareness you need to complete a dungeon...and some healers are ESPECIALLY weak in some areas, some have either a weak single target or aoe healing profile, or are just weak outside of cooldown windows. Group composition is also much more important, since interruptible casts are extremely deadly and not having enough interrupts, off-dispels and chain aoe CC will GREATLY increase group damage. Any healer that relies on CDs or ramps is punished by having a cast go off. Also if you don't have something like plater, you are handicapping yourself greatly. Tracking every important cast in group of mobs while playing the game with the default UI is absolutely not fun. The interrupt change without equalizing interrupts, then punishing the healers for any of the players missing the interrupt is bonkers. Every dungeon mechanic doesn't need to be damage related otherwise it will always fall back on the healer to deal with, which is stressful and leads to burnout. Even when you "do it", its mentally taxing having to triage the group to move forward (you don't really have a choice, do it or wipe). Good groups at higher keys will do the mechanics properly and you only need to worry about the predictable damage which is totally fine, but there are OTHER ways of punishing the group (in this case wasting time) without ultimately funneling all the stress directly to the healer.
Melee healing feels bad because the screen is so busy. I've learned to avoid groups with BM hunters as a melee healer just so I can actually see whats going on. Sometimes I just leave melee altogether and hardcast when it gets too chaotic. Even worse when the aoe indicators blend or CLIP into the ground.
The curse in grim batol should be considered a hate crime.
Heres what stood out to me about each class.
Shaman 2.6k
The biggest reason I found for shaman to be so much easier than every other healer, is that shamans can actually control the fate of the group by dealing with mechanics themselves through their utility. A 12 second ranged interrupt is absolutely a dungeon saver. I have prevented so many keys by just being a reliable interrupter. They also have a ranged aoe stun with capacitator totem, and spirit link totem which can save literally anybody aside from a direct 1 shot (pad that in with a death knight to essentially group heal? lol). Also both a decurse and poison cleanse totem. Top that off with reliable big/fast heals. It's honestly quite amazing how much easier it is.
Evoker 2.5k
Evokers are amazing at healing predictable damage, but are vulnerable to random spikes of damage within their ramp, but can re-ramp quickly. EXTREMELY weak to people spreading out, you will feel that shortened range when you group up with multiple ranged...who will both inevitably move to different zipcodes. Seriously, not being able to target everyone with your heals will be common reason for deaths. If someone takes damage right before a damage phase, spot healing becomes awkward since the heal will also eat any echoes on the party, hopefully time dilation is up. Also echo->reversion is the best tank heal. ~30% of damage taken in last 5 seconds means you can death strike the tank (or anyone taking damage). 40 second cooldown on interrupt is harsh.
Druid 2.3k
Healing m+ as a druid is counter-intuitive to class design and m+ design. Druids need time to ramp up their heals to heal effectively, the amount of burstiness and unpredictability that occurs in the average group means that you need hots rolling constantly to catch stray chunks before the actual unpreventable damage comes out. Global cooldowns are the most limited resource for a druid, and too often you won't find time to weave in some damage. Melee interrupt needing cat form to use...very awkward. Also lack of baseline hard CC can be felt in a pinch.
Paladin 2.3k
When wings is up, nobody dies... almost infinite healing. Pray nothing crazy happens in the beacon of virtue dead-zone. Outside of the beacon window, they are very weak healers. They have the weakest single target sustained healing of any of the healers. They have the best cooldowns though, which makes up for some of the weakness. Immunities completely trivialize some fights. Needing to be in melee for holy power generation feels bad when things go wrong. 15 sec melee interrupt.
Monk 2k
Monk was surprisingly fun, and melee healing as a monk doesn't feel bad since you actually have mobility. They also heal for a surprisingly high amount while doing damage and not needing any real preparation to get going. Their single target healing and self-healing is also crazy high, but group healing is very limited. The 800% chain tea lightning talent means that any time there a group of mobs you can instantly heal your group to full. 15 sec melee interrupt.
Priest 2k
Wheelchair class. You have no mobility, you will always be wading through the mud. Disc is very much a rotation of triage then group healing through void/atonement cds. When your void buff is up and you can cast, nobody dies. Giving people more HP to deal with mechanics via shields makes certain mechanics (and especially higher keys) a lot easier. You have amazing tools to help people survive mistakes if you can see them coming, whether it be big shields, life grip or an AoE damage reduction. No interrupt means you cant help with group wiping casts, also no real CC either.
Holy is fun, but you lose out on all the strengths of disc while retaining all the weaknesses of being a priest (no mobility, no interrupt). The biggest weakness is groupwide healing, and needing people to group for max effectiveness.
Also, the "touch the orb" dungeon affix is horrible. Shouldn't be able to come out during times when you can't grab the orbs. ITS VERY RUDE
Overall, I had a lot of fun getting all of the healers to at least 2k, I love healing so much and I would have done them all to 2.5k but I experienced burnout and figured that was a good stopping point.

2024.11.25 21:51 Snoo92570 Where is the line to being thirsty?

I recently met a woman who said, that I am a thirsty guy, because I get to know a lot of women and am open for everything.
According to her, I should select more and not run after every person.
Here is the thing, I don't. I didn't run after a woman for 15 years now. But I like to get to know people and talk about stuff. And if it leads to sex, so be it but it doesn't have to be. I don't consider myself thirsty because I don't need it. I am happy and I like the "getting to know each other". And I know that I can be good for others if they want to speak about problems and need sb to hear them out. So why is it bad to be open for everybody?

2024.11.25 21:51 wsayerh MBA M3 24GB vs. MBP M3 24GB - IT Consultant

Hi everyone,
I've just ordered a Midnight MacBook Air (M3, 13”, 24GB RAM), but I’m having second thoughts about whether it’s the right choice.
My Use Case: I’m an IT consultant, so I frequently work with multiple tabs and apps simultaneously. However, none of these are particularly resource-intensive.
My Requirements:

Essentially, I’m looking for a reliable professional tool that won’t let me down over the next 5 years.
My Concerns: My current MacBook Pro (2017, i5, 8GB RAM) has been giving me trouble for the past 1–2 years, and it’s only been in use for around 5 years:
Since my laptop is critical to my work, I need it to perform reliably. I chose the MacBook Air M3 with 24GB RAM because I thought it would be future-proof for the next 5 years. However, given my experience with the current MacBook Pro, I’m concerned that while the memory will likely hold up, the battery may not, forcing me to replace the laptop within 3 years.
Now I’m wondering if it would make sense to exchange it for a MacBook Pro M3, 14” with 24GB RAM. While the price difference is significant, I’d rather invest a bit more now for something that lasts the full 5 years than deal with performance issues or battery problems in 3 years.
What are your thoughts? Would the upgrade to the MacBook Pro be worth it?

2024.11.25 21:51 Pherreyra Mixed text and RCS

Mixed text and RCS I'm not sure if this is an issue with iPhones or Google Messages. I'm texting someone with an iPhone that has RCS enabled. My texts are being sent and received as RCS chat, but I get the messages from the iPhone as texts. Does anyone know why/how this is happening?

2024.11.25 21:51 Bennybills Baseboard to Forced Hot Air? Installing central air

I currently am renovating a home that has baseboard heating throughout. The baseboards will almost all have to be replaced. I intend on installing central air because there is no AC. The ductwork should be easy to install as all the closets line up above each other on one side of the house. Any thoughts on converting to forced air? Or any reason to keep the baseboard heat?
I appreciate your help!

2024.11.25 21:51 caleb7373 Key figures differing opinions

So I’m writing an essay on transcendentalism and my thesis is somewhere along the lines of “The founders of transcendentalism differed significantly in thought.” And so far I’ve kind of grouped some people into certain focuses, for example I have Fuller with a distinctly feminist view, Orestes A Brownson with a more political and social view with socialist parallels, and Emerson with a more practical view with his focus on nature. I was just wondering if there’s any other clear differences or unique aspects about key figures in transcendentalism that I could explore.

I wanted to move the time of taking my pill (combo pill - Yasmin) from 4pm to 10pm, so I have decided to just start my pack on the last day of the break week at my new time (day 7 of placebo week) rather than waiting for 9pm on the supposed first day of active pills (the first day after the placebo week). Will I be ok and protected from pregnancy? I can only talk to my doctor about it tomorrow and I feel like that decision wasn't the best

2024.11.25 21:51 evawithcats HVAC company almost cost my house to bring down. Now they are unwilling to fix the mistake.

I had one company install a new electrical panel, and my HVAC (air conditioning system.)
The HVAC system as well as my new electrical panel was installed about a year ago. Six months after having it, the AC system kept tripping one of the breakers. I called this company to get the issue resolved and the technician replace the breaker. After that, it seemed to be working just fine.
A year after installation. I had another electrician from another company come to add a new circuit (for an issue unrelated to the hvac) But when he inspected the panel, he noticed that the breakers attached to the HVAC system had caught on fire and the wire was melting.
Without getting into too much technical jargon, the electrician said that whoever installed the AC system did it improperly. And when they replace the breaker rather than changing out the wiring, this was completely negligent and it was what caused the fire and the wire melting. He said that this could’ve easily caused the house to burn down.
He then said that he could replace the breaker to 20 Amps and that this would fix imminent the safety hazard. But that I would need to call the original company to have HVAC rewired.
Now the issue is, when I called the original company. They said that they will not be able to fix my issue because I voided the warranty when the new electrician changed to breaker because I had some else “touch their work.”
They are unwilling to fix the issue now. Does this seem like a legitimate excuse for them not to fix their mistake?
