2024.11.26 06:49 AVarietyStreamer Saw an oral surgeon for the first time and they scheduled me for an immediate full mouth extraction.
Long story short: I've had bad, missing, broken teeth since my mid-twenties that has quickly gotten worse. The last couple of weeks I've been in the most pain I've ever experienced.
Had to move and switched from private insurance to medi-cal about the same time and changed dentists twice. First of the two new dentists tried to save my teeth with SDF. Some small success but overall didn't really help with the bigger picture.
After experiencing hospital like pain and being refused an immediate appointment to get the tooth extracted, switch to the second dentist that had walk-ins available.
First visit to the second dentist their head dentist took one look at me and told me that I needed full dentures. They sent me home with anti-biotics and a referral to an oral surgeon. That was about a month ago.
Finally saw the oral surgeon today and they can get me in as soon as two weeks. Scheduled the appointment so have a full mouth extraction scheduled.
Unfortunately, even with medi-cal covering the surgery, it will still cost $2,500 out of pocket. I guess there are some things that they believe they need to do which wouldn't be covered by medi-cal but are required in order to have a base for the dentures.
I do trust this oral surgeon as they have really positive reviews and looking forward to the constant pain finally being gone.
I have a follow up scheduled with the dentist who referred me to them about a week after this appointment.
Really just wondering what to expect and the dos/don'ts for before and after.
I'm also wondering how long of a break I should take from streaming games to give my mouth a rest from talking during recovery.

I 32f live with my 7f child and my 35m boyfriend. So I really need an advice or opinion about this because I think I’m not in the wrong but who knows? Yesterday evening my boyfriend blew up at my daughter for always playing in the living room with our dog. I admit I thought I should have said something in the moment but for some reason I froze. Later when my daughter went to sleep (which happens at 8pm every night) I approached him and asked him to be more accepting because my daughter was at school all day and after she had to go through homework which really took a lot of time (it’s not like she was screaming or breaking things). Then he proceeded to blow up at me that it is not normal for a child to spend every moment in the living room, that he grew up differently and he doesn’t understand. Then he snidely commented what should he say to others when they ask what she wants for a gift if all she does is play with a blanket and the dog. Honestly I was shocked I didn’t know how to respond to that behaviour. I just told him to ask for someone else’s opinion for example his sister’s (she has 2 daughters) and then come talk to me. Then I went to be alone, I knew I didn’t want to talk to him that night. So AITAH for letting my child play in the living room?
