Hi I have been in perimenopause for about a year now. I have noticed a drastic increase in my sensory overload...especially my Misophonia. For those who are unfamiliar misophonia can make certain normal sounds extremely irritating to a point of causing severe rage, anxiety and physical pain. For most people, this is the sound of people chewing or eating, clicking pens, typing on a keyboard, etc. Sounds that most people fail to notice essentially. I have always struggled with this to a point where I have to be fully sedated for a dental cleaning because the sounds cause me so much pain. However, recently my trigger sounds have been putting me into full on panic attacks and rage to a point of me flipping out on people for making very normal sounds. It's like nails on a caulk board times 1000....my skin crawls, I sweat, I get chest pains, have trouble breathing....I have even thrown up a couple times because I am so overwhelmed. Also, my skin sensory is unbearable....itchy fabrics will put me into a full panic as well and soft fabrics bring me an odd joy like never before. I've always said my hell would be me being forced to wear linen while listening to dogs lick themselves as a joke but now it feels like I'm really in hell.
People always say to wear headphones or ear plugs but I can't do that 24 hours a day....I can't watch tv, listen to an audio book, listen to music, etc. Because the small pauses are like daggers to my ears if a sound triggers me. My doctor says it's the hormones making me rage out but it doesn't feel like that...my entire body is reacting differently. Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

I was looking for a laptop that’ll last would last me preferably for 3+ years, and after extensive research on a specific laptop I found the best thing (in my viewing range).

Big Cat: (leaning into the mic, smirking) “Yeah, history is a nice way to put it, Bill. I mean, I might have poked fun at you once or twice on Pardon My Take. But, uh, it’s all in good fun, right?”
Bill Simmons: (chuckling nervously) “Sure. Sure. I mean, I get it. You guys have a different vibe. You’re more, uh, irreverent. I’m more, you know, deep-dive sports, historical context, that kind of thing.”
Big Cat: (grinning) “Right. We’re more ‘jokes about Jameis Winston eating W’s,’ and you’re more ‘remember when Havlicek stole the ball.’ Totally different lanes. But hey, we both love sports, so it’s all love.”
Ryen Russillo: (cutting in, trying to diffuse the tension) “Alright, alright. Let’s just admit this is a little weird, but that’s what makes it fun. Big Cat’s here because he loves hoops. Bill’s here because, well, it’s his podcast. And I’m here to make sure no one storms out. Let’s get into it.”
Bill Simmons: “Fine. Let’s talk hoops. Big Cat, since you’re the guest, I’ll throw this to you. Who’s your MVP pick right now? And please don’t say Alex Caruso just to mess with me.”
Big Cat: (laughing) “Caruso’s definitely in the conversation, but no, I’ll go serious. My MVP pick is Nikola Jokic. I know it’s boring, but the guy’s a basketball savant. It’s like watching someone play chess while everyone else is playing checkers. And, honestly, it’s a little refreshing to have a star who doesn’t post cryptic Instagram stories or tweet lyrics after a loss. Jokic just dominates and then probably goes home to ride a horse or something.”
Ryen Russillo: “Great pick. And Jokic has that ‘I don’t care about MVPs’ energy, which makes him even cooler. But Big Cat, what about your boy Giannis? You’re a Wisconsin guy. No love there?”
Big Cat: “Oh, I love Giannis. But here’s the thing—Jokic is on another planet right now. Giannis is probably second for me, though. And yeah, I’m a Wisconsin guy, so I’ll always have a soft spot for him. Plus, unlike Bill here, I actually know what it’s like to root for a small-market team and not have 17 banners hanging in the rafters.”
Bill Simmons: (raising an eyebrow) “Okay, first of all, it’s 18 banners now. Second, let’s not act like you’re suffering with the Bucks. They won a title two years ago. Try being a Clippers fan for 50 years.”
Big Cat: (deadpan) “Bill, you’re a Boston guy. No one believes you’ve suffered.”
Ryen Russillo: (losing it, laughing) “He’s got a point, Bill. You’re like the guy who wins the lottery and complains about the taxes.”
Bill Simmons: (trying to regain control) “Alright, alright, let’s move on. Big Cat, you’re a Russillo guy. You guys are buddies. You’ve had him on Pardon My Take. What’s the deal? Why does Ryen go on your podcast and not mine? You know I invented sports podcasts, right?”
Big Cat: (laughing but slightly uncomfortable) “Oh, this is great. We’re really doing this? Alright. Uh, Ryen and I have a good time because we don’t get into, like, deep NBA history debates. It’s more casual. Plus, Ryen knows how to have fun. No offense, Bill, but you’re kinda… intense.”
Bill Simmons: (leaning forward, clearly annoyed) “Intense? I’m intense? I just care about the product! You guys can mess around with your jokes and your hypotheticals about, like, Aaron Rodgers living on the moon, but some of us are trying to have serious conversations about sports legacies.”
Ryen Russillo: (putting his hands up) “Alright, alright. Everyone relax. Big Cat, let’s get real. What’s your actual beef with Simmons? Let’s just air it out.”
Big Cat: (shrugging, grinning) “Honestly, no real beef. I think Bill’s an icon, even if he doesn’t want to admit that Pardon My Take is the biggest sports podcast now. It’s just fun to poke at him because he takes everything so seriously. Like, if I say the Celtics suck, I know I’m getting a 1,500-word email with advanced metrics explaining why I’m wrong. It’s too easy.”
Bill Simmons: (glaring at Ryen) “And you’re just sitting there, letting him trash me? I thought we were friends.”
Ryen Russillo: (smirking) “Hey, I’m Switzerland. I don’t pick sides. Plus, it’s fun watching Big Cat rattle you.”
Big Cat: “Alright, let’s end this on a positive note. Bill, give me your bold NBA prediction for the season. And no, you can’t just say ‘The Celtics win the title.’”
Bill Simmons: (leaning back, thinking hard) “Fine. How about this: The Warriors miss the playoffs. Steph can’t carry them forever, and they didn’t make enough moves. Write it down.”
Big Cat: (laughing) “Whoa, Bill Simmons just turned into a Warriors hater. I’m gonna clip this and send it straight to Draymond.”
Ryen Russillo: (grinning) “And I’ll forward it to Steph. This is great content.”
Bill Simmons: (shaking his head, half-smiling) “Alright, we’re done here. Next time, I’m bringing Cousin Sal. At least he has my back.”
Cue theme music as Big Cat and Russillo exchange a fist bump, leaving Simmons shaking his head.
