2024.11.27 02:20 Responsible_Task_885 Seeking advice for potential wrongful termination and SEVERAL worker violations
My previous employer tried to place me on a fictitious PIP, threatened to fire me if I didn’t sign it (which I have an email-forwarded copy of), ignored my complaint that the PIP is false coming from a hostile manager, and rejected my written request to discuss and investigate the PIP with the evidence I had stating it was not up for discussion. I was told via email I would be terminated if I didn’t sign the PIP by a certain deadline. While waiting for my signature, they demoted me, restricted my access, and subsequently fired me while I requested investigation. They then told me I would not get my last paycheck until I returned company equipment.
Additionally, I was diagnosed with C-PTSD, Major depression, Generalized anxiety disorder, and suicidal ideation. My employer agreed to 100% telework at the recommendation of my therapist and a letter shared with my employer about my conditions. As a caviat, I was to report to the office 1x/week despite the initial agreement that I would be fully remote. A few months later, I received the aforementioned PIP stating I now must be in-office 5x/week, or I would be let go due to “failure to meet my weekly ‘in-office’ obligation — despite my adherence to PTO request procedure with gained approval while not having any record of write-ups noting “failure to fulfill in-office obligation” prior to the PIP. Additionally, there was “failure to complete responsibilities”. This was strange, because I never received complaints, write-ups, or warnings. My metrics showed improved productivity and performance for the company. The CEO of the company told me that our clients love our work because of what I was doing. I was getting written praise as well as formal praise from multiple supervisors in our performance tracking system up until TWO WEEKS before the PIP. They also added in responsibilities that I “failed” to complete that were not part of my job description in my offer letter nor was I told I was to start doing those additional things.
Additionally, before all of the PIP, my direct supervisor was hostile. We had an intern that I was picking up the slack for, yet, all the credit for my work would he given to this intern in team meetings. a few days before the PIP, she went on PTO for a few days but I didn’t find out until the INTERN told me. She also gave him tasks to do and left me completely in the dark. She would give me contradictory instructions and then get mad at me. She sarcastically made a comment towards me and cut me off multiple times to the point where someone cut HER off and said “wait “x name”, were you still talking?”
Then at some point later, HR and my supervisor said we would do a check-in meeting and that, verbatim, they do this with everyone and it’s just to check in on my goals, how I see myself growing, etc. during the meeting, there was nooooo complaints and everything went well. Then at the end of the meeting they said we just need you to sign a document. It’s a PIP, so just send it back to us. No explanation, no nothing, and didn’t state out that it was a “Performance Improvement Plan”. So I’m like ok cool. (I didn’t know what a PIP was or heard of it). Then I read the PIP and I just feel COMPLETELY blindsided.
When I told the intern everything that happened after the PIP, he was apologetic and said he had noticed something was off but didn’t know what it was. When my unemployment was denied, the Unemployment person told me that if I had an issue, why didn’t I go to HR earlier? And I said I was scared of confrontation and jeopardizing my job. I also struggle with anxiety and she was already being hostile. Then the unemployment person just repeated the same thing. I was getting so upset that I started shaking and just didn’t know what to say anymore and just broke down crying so I just took her advice of contesting the denial. I ended up not doing that, because I was worried about having to defend myself with a mediator.
As the icing on the cake, the employer denied my unemployment claim - stating I was the cause of my own firing despite the fact that they tried to force me into signing a falsified PIP, demoted me, removed my access, and rejected my data and review-based evidence after I requested an investigation, and then fired me after the deadline had passed while I tried to plead for an investigation into the PIP and my hostile manager.
The employer did all of this while knowing of my diagnoses and while I was experiencing suicidal ideation - all of which they were aware of. They then stripped me of my livelihood further and ability to support myself financially by withholding my last paycheck until I returned company equipment and then deceivingly denying my unemployment claim.
I have documentation of EEEEEEVERYTHING. The emails, approval of PTO requests, the chats, the metrics, the written praise, the revoking of my roles so I couldn’t do my job, the written emails where HR told me my PIP was not up for discussion and I need to sign it or I may be terminated, and HR also threatening to withhold my paycheck if I don’t send back my equipment, Every. Single. Thing. Because once they revoked my access until I signed, I knew I had to get all my proof together.
I didn’t file with the EEOC because I was just so traumatized after everything and with my ptsd, depression, anxiety, and the fact that I’ve been homeless before, I just didn’t have the bandwidth or emotional strength to pursue any of it further (especially with how the unemployment person treated me, victim blamed, and disregarded me) even though I wanted to. It’s been a few years now, and I still have time to file a suit.
So guys… do I have legal recourse here? How many violations were committed?

I (32M) have dated my ex-gf (31f) for 7 months now and at the start she told me she was fresh out of a breakup but it wasn't anything serious. I took that as I would and the first 5 months were amazing she was truly my dream girl. Two months ago i started noticing behavior changes and obviously I started getting my suspicions but not until a week ago after her constantly being glued to her phone this last weekend I decided to do what I never wanted to do and snoop her phone. I memorized her passcode and checked her messages and saw her texting a guy (her ex bf) i'll call him Alex.
I also saw some other messages with her BFF whom I am friendly with but we never chat but I trusted her to be a good judge of character so after these suspicious messages I decided to text her BFF on my own accord the following morning asking her about Alex. She told me that they were high school lovers of over 14 years... So clearly more serious then she ever led on to believe. She then went on to ask me what had happened and I said she had been distant and I snooped her phone then she pretty much filled in the blanks to her behavior.
Her friend told me I deserve better as she even tried to talk reason to her but she fell back for him or something. I thanked her for the honesty and told her she should get a better friend. After that I went home the following night, removed my key from her key ring. Packed what shit she had in my apartment into a box, told her to gtfo and not return in a text message. Explained my camera in my living room was active so she better not destroy my place. I did all this in a text as I woke up earlier then normal, drove to the local waterside and chilled in my car while I waited for my message to deliver. I then blocked her and waited for my cameras to pick up her leaving.
Since her leave I have gotten a spam of calls from a random number which I assume is her. Her mom said I am to quick to judge as they had "real love" I told her to fuck off and blocked her also. Her friend who now cut ties with my ex has been a great friend and honestly helping me out through this rough time.
So AITA? My approach was cold and sure I was probably rude to her mom but her words deserved it imo.

 | I've been searching for a versatile PC controller, mainly for Call of Duty, and over the past six months, I've tried a few different models. Currently, I own the following controllers:
In terms of shape and build quality, it’s comparable to the other GameSir controllers I’ve used, with a similar feel to the Tarantula Pro. However, I’d say the Elite 2 still has the edge in terms of overall quality. The button feel is spot-on, and the triggers are incredibly satisfying, offering a smooth and precise response. But the real standout is the thumbsticks. They’re sharp, incredibly responsive, and offer superior accuracy. In fact, the Cyclone 2’s sticks are by far the best of any controller I’ve used so far. Additionally, I haven’t noticed any latency difference whether I’m using it wired or wirelessly. For the price I really think this is the one to get. I haven't even mentioned the charging dock you get with it. The only con for me is the lack of four back buttons but I can live with two. i came here to look to see if anyone was having a similar glitch as me on xbox, but i just see a bunch of comments about "the community stinks" or "this game is bad". idgi, i'm having fun and that feels like a win? idk if anyone else remembers the fun of playing black ops 1, but this reminds me a lot of that, especially in an era of battle royales, this game feels different.
