2025.01.20 18:57 blitzer1069 What are your favorite anime only stories and why?
I grew up with the anime in the 90s and eventually found the manga in 2000s and of course the manga is far superior. But I will say some of the anime only or heavily modified chapters did stick out to me. Here are some of mine:
Akane Goes to the Hospital: A very simple story. Akane gets injured from a distracted photo flash that Ranma was trying to prevent. Everyone except Ranma visits her at the hospital but then starts having parties at the Tendos everyday. Ranma dislikes this and feels guilty about not visiting and afraid of Akane's reaction. What I love about this is how Ranma acts so differently from everyone else who "does their good deed of the day" and goes partying afterwards. This one really felt like it could have been part of the manga.
Sneeze Me Squeeze Me: This is a rare one where I feel the anime did it better than the manga. The manga is really over the top throwing in characters in and out of the Tendo house literally every few panels. The anime simplifies it more to Ranma, Akane, and Shampoo only. Akane ironically is less violent in the anime vs manga towards Ranma. It even has some nice moments between Ranma and Akane like when Ranma takes care of Akane when she's coughing non stop and still tries to hit him. Shampoo's English voice is also extra sassy this episode as well.
OAV I'll be the to inherit Mother's Recipes: The OAV does a great job of expanding the simpler manga story by adding in Mrs. Tendo cooking diary into the plot. I do like the juxtapose of how Kasumi said she couldn't boil water at first and at the end we see Akane accomplishing just that with help and encouragement from Nodoka. We get a little glimpse of the late Mrs. Tendo and it shows how Nodoka is trying to help fill that role some for Akane. It's a nice foreshadow of the future (albeit a far far away one....)
Ranma Goes Back to Jusenkyo: A fun "what if" story. Made me laugh quite a bit with all the stuff they tried to do to alter their past and how they talk to their old selves.
Ryoga's Proposal: This is more of a guilty pleasure as I don't really like Ryoga and Maomolin so I find it funny watching them combined and screwing things up badly trying to get Akane.
Back to the Happosai: Don't get me wrong, I HATE Happosai and how he's in a lot of anime stories. But I do like how this episode explores young Cologne and Happosai. It was nice to see old Happi trying to convince his younger self what an awful person he'll be, of course to no avail. But it is really neat to see younger Cologne more and how far back they knew each other.
Tendo Family Christmas Scramble: Probably a huge fan favorite but I just love this as a fun everyone in holiday special. It could have been a 2 parter too. The anime never ended properly so I just treat this as the anime conclusion in my head canon. I love how Ryoga and Kuno start fighting in Akane's bedroom and Mousse acting rational for once. The Equal Romance performance was just great to see. And I also love how Ranma appreciates the scarf because his initials are on it.

Hello, nervous wreck of a wife here! My husband's green card expires on Friday, 01/24/25. Excuses aside, we just got everything we need together and are mailing it express so that it (hopefully) arrives to USCIS by Wednesday, 01/22/25. I don't know if this means they'll actually open & process it before Friday, however, and I'm getting extremely nervous that it may be marked as late if not. Anyone have any experience with a similar situation or words of wisdom so I don't pull my hair out? Thanks!

2025.01.20 18:57 AnxiousGalore Won’t be getting promoted this year, should I leave or ask for a raise?
I work as a Finance Manager, with 8 years of experience. I transitioned to this team about a year ago and at first, there was no real role for me. But I took initiative, identified areas where processes can be improved (which significantly reduced errors and improved reporting) and made an effort to learn the business, all while accepting feedback from my coworkers and supervisor.
Late last year, my manager told me how she would like to promote me next year (this year) and eventually lead a team of my own. This was just her desire and words so I didn’t take it that seriously but continued to work hard.
We had a 1:1 last week and I asked about the promotion. She said due to a potential merger, it’ll be difficult to push through. It sucked to hear but I told her that I get it.
Now I’m wondering if I should start applying to new roles or when merit cycles come around, ask for a raise. I currently make $110k. Last year, I didn’t receive a merit increase (received a discretionary bonus) and the year prior, only received a 1.8% increase. My performance reviews have always been positive and met with good feedback, in addition to where to improve for career progression. If I do ask for a raise, I would like at least $120k.

Hi all - have a rare gift idea for my dad that I'm pretty happy with. He was on subs in the early 90s, and left the Navy as a Lieutenant. The gift is a Sturgeon-class model, where I'm doing custom packaging, and I'm adding a callout pointing to a figure, indicating it's "him".
If his name was John Smith, would: ``` LT Smith ``` be the most official way to write that?
Or can I make it any more official-looking - does it get any more verbose in official literature? `LT John Smith`, `Lieutenant Smith`, `O3-LT Smith`, or something else?
And I'll have room for a small graphic - I'm planning on adding this (from here), unless there might be any better alternative?

This might be very off topic and very new to users on this sub but isn't someone who's on YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest an influencer? Despite the several attempts at making her understand the umbrella term used for people like her, she's too high up on her horses that she's ready to go at lengths to defend herself at not being an influencer. She's basically influencing people to buy the same outfits as her, doing fashion hauls on YouTube and the icing on the cake being the money she's making out of it so what's the harm in calling herself an influencer??. Besides this, even the video is very subjective and something I don't agree with. It feels nice to see YouTubers or any other social media figures from Arunachal be humble and true to themselves. Unlike few of the ones like her who's only gonna misrepresent us in the near future.
