2025.01.22 10:05 pnut_92 Vibrating bassinet hindering sleep?
Wondering what your experience was with using a vibrating bassinet? We got our basinet for free and I noticed the vibrating feature and at first I didn't want to use it because I didn't want my LO to get use to it and thought it would have been harder to transition to the crib later. Of course I gave in when I was sleep deprived and wanted anything to work so he'd sleep. It seemed to work but the issue I'm finding now is I have to keep putting the vibration back on every 15 mins since it automatically shuts off after than. Once it's off, he will fuss and start crying. But then i put it on and he is fine again for the 15 mins. Now I feel I ruined it for him and myself as I am up every 15 mins having to turn it back on. Did you guys have similar experience and how can I transition out of using the vibration? Any tips?

 | Friend bought a bike from a private seller. It started fine at time of purchase and driving it home but now is sounding like this. Tried charging and changing battery but we are both new to bikes and don’t know what to do seeing that didn’t fix the issue. After a lot of online searching it seems like it could be 10 different things so we are lost more so now than before. Closest mechanic we can find that works on Indian bikes is 2hrs away and we want to learn how to fix it and hopefully save some money. Please any help is appreciated. Hi everyone! I was recently offered a place as an exchange for 1 semester at University of British Columbia in Vancouver, to be exact the Sauder school of Business. But, I am a bit conflicted because there is also another option to go to the University of Melbourne. I am indecisive at the moment for couple reasons such as cost of living, weather and social life.
At UBC: 1) cost of living in vancouver I heard is quite expensive, but I am in Los Angeles right now and seems like it will definitely be cheaper than here, and Melbourne is like 20% cheaper than vancouver in all terms like housing food etc. 2) I know Canada is pretty cold overall, but vancouver has a slightly milder weather. Still compared to LA, definitely colder. I am also more of a city gal, than a nature fan, but I do enjoy hiking and sightseeing from time to time. I wonder if the transportation is good and if it’s safe overall. 3) In terms of social life I also want to make a lot of friends and have fun (no smoking and rare drinking). My friend at ubc (she’s compsci) said it’s quite dead in UBC, but the sauder school of business might be better, not sure yet.
At UofMelb: I have only heard good things so far in terms of all things. Not really sure about anything yet. Would love some feedback if anyone knows anything about this uni.
Overall my goal would be to study at a high ranking school for my resume and make good connections if possible. Please let me know what you think as I don’t know much about UofMelb

Hello everyone,
i'm looking to start my career in education here in Germany. I've contacted the office in my city and got my university degree recognised. (recognition paper starts with the green Kultusminister Konferenz slogan on top) and i'm an engineer with a teaching experience of 4 years from another country (i can also provide proof if required by the employers).
my question is, would this recognition suffice for me to apply for teaching at schools? or would i need to do something else? i have B2 berüflich in German and a C1 ielts score in english.
i've contacted a local school here and they've mentioned something about getting a recognition from the ministry of youth and sport in thuringia (where i reside). i've visited the website but couldn't reach any information about this specific case.
any help would be greatly appreciated. i'm also capable of relocating if things are different in another state. thank you for reading.

I am very much a libral person and believe in individual rights, I don't really put any restriction on my sister but today we went for shopping and she wanted to buy a one piece dress.which I immediately refused and told her not to ever wear a one piece clothing. This is India and I fear for her safety. She can wear whatever else she wants I have never restricted her even when our parents have done it I have always supported her ( hiding her relationships from our parents and whatnot). But I think this is something I stand firm against . This is India this is a country where people agree with criminals and victim blame women for wearing short clothes. At which she got angry and was pouting the whole time and blaming me for being so orthodox and backwards.
I don't understand is wearing revealing cloths really that important for women that you would get upset. I mean it's just a dress, you can wear any high heels, makeup or whatever but why does prospect of not being able to wear a one piece dress makes you so angry. I don't get it.

Hey writing community! Long-time lurker, first real post. After 3 years of struggling to finish my first novel, I completely changed my process and managed to write two books in 2024. Thought I'd share what worked for me:
- BIGGEST CHANGE: Switched from typing to dictation
- Time Blocking (but make it realistic)
- 8-9am: Quick cleanup of dictated text
- 2-3pm: Actual editing
- 8-10pm: Planning next day's scenes
- Scene Cards Method
- One card per scene
- 3 bullet points max per scene
- Rearrange as needed
- Color code by plot thread
- The "Shitty First Draft" mindset
- Environment Hacks
- Dark mode everything
- Standing desk
- Text-to-speech for editing (hearing your work helps catch issues)
- Progress Tracking
- Daily word count spreadsheet
- Weekly goals (not daily)
- Monthly writing income
- Project completion rate
Tools I use:
- Scrivener for organizing
- Willow for dictation (seriously, try speaking your story)
- Notion for planning
- Forest app for focus
- Grammarly for quick edits
Results:
2023: 500-1000 words/day, 1 unfinished book
2024: 3000-5000 words/day, 2 completed books
Common Questions:
"Isn't dictation awkward?"
At first, yes. But after a week it feels natural. Plus you can dictate anywhere - walking, doing dishes, etc.
"What about editing?"
I actually edit less now. Speaking naturally helps avoid overthinking.
"Cost?"
Tools are an investment but worth it. Time saved = more writing = more income.
Biggest Lessons:

2025.01.22 10:05 Husky_Highlands Does anyone have the Kalour Macaron set of pastel colours? Can they be used together with artist grade brands?
I normally work with artist grade pencils like Polychromos, with some Derwents and Luminance pencils but I'm missing pastel shades. Prismacolor is really expensive and hard to get where I am and I'm looking for a set of pastel shades to supplement the rest, just for lighter gradients, etc. I have some pastel colour palette work to do for kids and all my colours are too dark. I'd prefer to avoid having to blend them with white because it's going to take too long to finish it.
I don't need them to be lightfast because I scan them in for illustration and everything goes through Photoshop for printing. I'm not selling originals. I'm just looking for a set that I can use together with my deeper colour pro sets since they're all missing lighter shades. Has anyone got the Kalour Macarons? How are they?
I've watched several YouTube reviews but all they do is fill in the swatches blocks and I haven't seen them being used with any other brands. If anyone has them, do you find that they are worth it?
