Hi so this is a very specific issue. My cousin is a twin and getting married. I went her her twin sisters wedding already and had done what the "well off" cousin would do and took her to a nice dinner to celebrate, bought her stuff for her house, and helped decorating for her wedding. But her sister lives in Missouri about 8 hrs from me so I can't do all the same things but since I'm a professional baker, I offered to make her wedding cake (within reason since I'm going to have to transport it too so nothing over the top). And we agreed on that being my part for her wedding. This is also a no kids wedding so just myself and husband were going to go
My husband's cousin also got engaged and they are rich Catholic Italians and he's the only one in the family getting an actual wedding (my husband and I eloped instead). There are other siblings in the family but all are not getting married any time soon due to their own personal reasons. So it's going to be a BIG thing. And as our daughter is 5, we were asked if she could be the flower girl. Obviously we said yes.
Issue is, I got both of their save the dates and its the EXACT same day. I can't go to both because I promised my cousin her wedding cake and she's 8 hrs away but I also don't want to miss my daughter get to be a flower girl. We could decline the offer and another slightly cousin could do it but I still wouldn't get to go. I'm just stuck between a rock and a hard place

Question, What if Jack Nance was cast in The Elephant Man?
Apparently, Jack Nance was David Lynch's 1st choice for the lead role of John Merrick in The Elephant Man but that either 1. The Producer weren't having it with Nance or 2. Lynch saw The Naked Civil Servant with John Hurt in it and decided to cast John Hurt in the lead role.
John Hurt gives a great performance as John Merrick and only 1 of 3 actors (Other than Diane Ladd & Richard Farnsworth) to received an acting nomination from a David Lynch's film. Though, I wonder if David Lynch decided to go through and cast Jack Nance in the lead role.
Jack Nance, is a very interesting actor to me, to my surprise, he was considered for lead roles in The Graduate & In Cold Blood and apparently, he actually almost got the role in The Graduate before they went with Dustin Hoffman. then his career really didn't gain notice until David Lynch casted him in Eraserhead. Nance also had a rough life, it still boggles my mind that this was the same guy in Eraserhead then 8 years later, he is so unrecognizable that you wonder if it's the same guy. It's also a shame that he died young and how he died.

I'm looking to get my first AR10 .308. I'm sure the barrel question is beating a dead horse but if I could be pointed in the right direction I would appreciate it along with manufacturer recommendations. I'm looking to be consistent between 500-750 yds, I've seen that 16 or 18 inch barrels are pretty well liked over 20 or 24 inch. But clarification would be helpful. I'm intimately familiar with AR15s but based on my research, AR10s are fairly different, and I want to be happy with my build. Any advice is greatly appreciated

This could just be me nit-picking, but I really didn't like the characterization of the Jenin Refugee Camp when they were introducing the segment about it this morning. "It's not like a refugee camp you'd imagine with tents, it's more like a city, with houses, shops, and schools".
Ok... It was setup in the 1950s for displaced Palastinians. And it remained a refugee camp because they weren't allowed to go back home. So of course people started building permanent structures and just continuing life.
Again, could just be me, but it seems sort of disingenuous. Closest thing I can think of is looking at Native American reservations and saying "wow, you'd think that these communities would be all teepees and tents, but they have real houses, schools, and even a Dunkin Donuts!". Like, of course they do.
What would you expect a refugee camp to look like after 70 years?
