I've noticed a few very similar Facebook trolls in completely different places and was just curious if anyone else had come across this odd pattern. Maybe one chronically online person is running them all, I have no idea.
The profiles usually have a ridiculous name, obviously fake profile picture like a morbidly obese person, or a fucked up mask, etc. Weird or disgusting memes on their timeline, profile filled out with background pictures and jokes.
Usually they join local residents group or comment on local newspaper articles, put laugh emojis on sensitive posts, make increasingly provocative comments obviously intended to get a reaction but not quite bad enough to get banned or seem like a direct insult. The comments are usually quite intelligent and intended to wind people up.
I suppose all sites have trolls, but its the eerily consistent MO that jumps out at me lol. What's the deal with this? Is someone out there that bored that this is their only entertainment? Why are they all so similar? I wouldn't even care if it was just innocent fun but they're nearly always trying to upset people.

I live with my parents and sibling in ontario. I (27f) got assaulted by my brother (36m) after a verbal disagreement. Its been 6.5 years since he’s moved into my parents home and he doesn’t pay rent. I did call the police and he was escorted to the hospital to talk to a crisis worker because I chose not to press charges (my family wouldn’t be able to forgive me if i did so). He’s caused my parents and I extreme stress and emotional pain for many years and after him assaulting me, my parents agreed that he needs to go. He’s been extremely verbally abusive for the past couple months also, and my parents have told him he will have to leave soon, once he finds a job but they didn’t give him a specific timeframe. He has a history of mental health problems but refuses to seek help and claims he’s fine and won’t go and get help no matter how many times we’ve tried to help him. Now, after him assaulting me I do not feel safe living with him there and my parents are figuring out how to evict him legally and how to go about that since there is no formal lease, we feel unsafe, and he refuses to seek help. I’d appreciate any advice on how to go about this and i’m sorry if the post seems all over the place, currently suffering through a concussion. Thank you in advance.
