Hi everyone!
Iâll preface this by saying Iâve spoken to my surgeon and they arenât concerned, and I have my 3month post op scans next week, but looking for some advice/reassurance from those who actually go through it.
Iâve got Chiari Malformation Type 1 (15mm) with a cervical syrinx (c1-c5, 11mm at its widest). Iâm currently 13 weeks post decompression - bone removed, c1 removed, duraplasty, cauterised tonsils.
Recovery has been going fairly well. Off medication after ~6weeks and physio every week since then. In the last week though, Iâve been feeling tightness in the temple/above ear area. I canât tell if itâs internal pressure or external muscles. Itâs constant. Heat, cold, physio, ibuprofen etc donât seem to have an impact. Itâs not painful so much as it is uncomfortable. Standing versus laying down doesnât seem to make much of a difference.
I know 3 months is still early in the recovery, just curious if anyone else has had a symptom like this pop up and then go away?
I would consider myself fairly asymptomatic until 4months before my surgery when I started to get most likely syrinx related symptoms of dizziness, pressure in my head, weakness. So feeling a pressure again (although it is different to pre-surgery) has got me starting to spiral đŹ
Hearing any thoughts/similar experiences would be great!

Weâve had her 9 weeks, sheâs 6 years old. She loves the dog park and riding in car and being at home. Goes into full panic when walking on leash. Vet put her on Prozac for anxiety 2+ weeks ago. Feel so discouraged, as I adopted a dog to walk with me. She isnât ready for a trainer at this point.

I need some help. I canât get past the physical anxiety symptoms. Shaking, left arm weak, shoulders tight. Mind is obsessing about the anxiety. Iâve been on 20 mg for 8 weeks and last Friday was bumped up to 40mg. Iâve talked with my therapist about it and been doing guided meditation, walking when I can (it really cold out) able to go to work but I am so distracted. Not the best father because of my mental state. I used to be happy and goofy five years ago but that man has been MIA. I am thinking of stopping fluoxetine or buspirone or both. Iâve exhausted my support at home. My wife is so sick of me like this. Really want to feel better. Missing out on so much. Sorry just so tired of being who I am right now. Thank you for listening.

This summer Iâm flying AMS to JFK and would like to upgrade my seat. The 2 options Iâm looking at are comfort plus vs premium select. Flight time is roughly 8 hours. Ive done comfort plus before but only on domestic flights lasting around 3-4 hours. I will be using points to upgrade. I canât decide if the extra points are worth it for premium select or if I should just stick with C+
I already know about the physical differences (recline, meals, seat size, etc). But Iâm interested in knowing what YOU personally would choose and why?
