2025.01.23 00:12 Paguy215 Issue with main box stuck on welcome screen
My XG1v4 has been stuck on the welcome screen for months now. Interestingly, the satellite box (Xi6-T) is working fine, so I’m thinking this main box must be bricked or broken. It had issues previously where it would constantly unpair the remote but now it’s stuck on that screen. I’ve done all manner of power cycles, refreshes, etc.
I really don’t want to pay a tech, can’t they just send me a replacement XG1v4. Given that the other box works I don’t think it has anything to do with a signal, though the Virtual assistant didn’t see a connection to the main box.

2025.01.23 00:12 Lord_Admrial_Spire First Car (sedan) Advice Needed!
Hi! So I am relatively new to the world of cars, and am looking for a used car (through hertz or enterprise) that is around 15k, ideally less considering taxes. I currently drive a 2015 Chevy Malibu that is my parents, but its engine is awful, and kinda always has been. I have my eye on a few used Malibus from 2022 and such that are in my ballpark price, but I’m kinda scared given my previous car’s engine issues. Is it worth to buy a foreign brand car? If so, what are some good options. I value reliability, decent space (for a sedan) and an alright speaker system (gotta play those tunes!)
Any advice is welcomed! I won’t mind someone trying to really sell me on a brand or such. Real life examples welcomed! Thanks!

Meu pai se casou com a minha madrasta quando eu tinha 2 anos de idade e um ano após isso eles tiveram o meu irmão.
Atualmente eu tenho 16 anos e meu irmão 13. Minha madrasta é a única figura materna que conheço pois minha mãe biológica não queria ter nenhuma ligação comigo quando eu nasci (eu nunca vi ela pessoalmente), mas segundo o meu pai ela sempre pagou pensão alimentÃcia.
Eu sempre chamei a minha madrasta de mãe, mas sempre percebi enquanto crescia que ela me tratava de maneira muito diferente em comparação ao meu irmão, ela nunca me tratou mal, mas sempre se interessou mais pelo meu irmão (o filho biológico dela) do que por mim, na verdade ela demonstrou pouquÃssimo interesse por mim e isso só aconteceu algumas vezes.
Bem, chegando na parte interessante do post: um tempo atrás a minha madrasta disse pro meu pai que queria sair nas férias e aproveitar pra fazer uma viagem em "famÃlia". Eles estavam procurando um air bnb ( n sei se escrevi certo) numa manhã e eu queria ver as opções tbm, mas ela disse que eu não precisava ver. Na hora eu fiquei confuso e perguntei porque, então ela disse abraçando o meu pai: " desculpa, mas a viagem é pra nossa famÃlia, eu, seu pai e o seu irmão. Então eu queria que você ficasse com os seus avós". Nessa hora eu fiquei muito mal e disse que ela querendo ou não eu era parte dessa famÃlia. Ela disse que a viagem era só pra famÃlia DELA. Nessa hora eu fiquei os olhos lacrimejando e perguntei por que ela me tratava diferente e ela disse:" eu gosto de você, mas a minha famÃlia são o seu pai e meu filho". O meu pai nem me defendeu, só ficou em silêncio enquanto eu fui chorar no meu quarto. A pior parte é que eles realmente foram pra viagem sem mim ( mas invés de eu ir pros meus avós eu fiquei em casa mesmo).
Enquanto eles estavam viajando eu percebi que se ela não me vê como filho então eu não vou ver ela como mãe. Quando eles voltaram ela veio falar comigo normalmente, mas eu ignorei. Quando fomos jantar ela perguntou se eu tinha feito uma coisa que ela tinha me pedido, Então eu respondi:" sim, aline, eu fiz". Nessa hora ela ficou muito irritada por eu chamar ela pelo nome dela e meu pai também me criticou, mas eu não me importei. No dia seguinte o meu pai disse que eu devia pedir desculpas, mas eu neguei fazer isso por estava apenas tratando minha madrasta do jeito que ela demonstrou querer ser tratada.
Meu pai disse que ela ficou chateada e que ela é minha "mãe" então eu devia pedir desculpas, mas eu lembrei ele de que ela mesma disse que eu não sou filho dela e que afirmei que não pediria desculpas. O meu pai disse que ela é mulher que me criou desde os meus 2 anos e que isso é mais importante do que aquilo que ela disse então eu devia me desculpar de qualquer forma pois ela é (segundo ele) "quase que completamente" minha mãe, mas eu não pedi desculpas a ainda não quero.
Isso aconteceu tem algumas semanas e as coisas estão tensas aqui em casa. Eu e minha madrasta não nos falamos a 4 dias.
Fui babaca?

I dont know what tag to use or if this is even the right subreddit to go to for this. One of my friends attempted to commit suicide yesterday night. Im not exactly sure how as they didnt say but theyve been delirious, said they were hallucinating, and they seem to be tired all the time. They didnt go to the hospital but police were called and reported them to be okay. (For added context, i dont know them irl. Weve been friends online for about 2 years now and id hate to lose them) Im here to ask for help with so many things. For starters i dont know how to let them know its okay to ask for help, from their friends or professionally. I mean ive told them about a dozen times now that they can talk to be but they refuse to say much more than that theyre okay. They keep saying negative things about themselves still and im thinking maybe over time theyll realize the attempt was a mistake? Im not sure, ive read about people regretting their decisions once they realized they were still alive but not seeing that happen is making me worried. Second of all im worried about myself. I feel selfish saying that but my mental health is at an all time low again. Im worried i might hurt myself or worse. I dont know how to cope without being incessantly worried about my friend. I dont want to go to any of my friends about this either because theyre dealing with the same stress I am with my friends attempt to end their life. I dont know what to do and over all i just want some help, some guidance. Im scared, i feel alone, and my life feels like its falling apart at the seams.

Today in class we drilled as usual and then rolled. We do groups of three, and because my schedule changed, I went to an earlier class where I ended up rolling with people I hadn’t met before. One of them was a kid around 18-22 in the white belt class, and while he was more advanced than me, that wasn’t what stood out.
The whole roll felt… bad. From the way he stared at me, the way he spoke to his overall energy, I felt like something was off. It felt like there was something negative behind his intensity. Even when we first introduced ourselves, I could tell he wasn’t in a good place—his demeanor was cold, and he obviously had no intention in interacting with us, which is perfectly fine, but the other partner before I even said anything said he felt he had hate in his heart.
When we started rolling, our third partner would try to talk to him, but he barely responded and stayed overly serious, almost disrespectfully so. At one point, when I nearly got a submission on him, he seemed to get mad. And when he did submit me, he wouldn’t let go right away, even though I would tap many times. By the third round, I had to actually slap him five times to get him to release me.
I’ve rolled with a lot of people, and most are either serious but respectful or just chill and there to train. This guy was different—there was this negativity that I’ve never encountered before. It wasn’t just a challenge; it felt genuinely unpleasant.

I have seen a few posts on here about this but was just curious of those who have experiences that they could speak on. I am about to graduate and enter the B4 auditing world and know that I do not want to be there in the long run. In my masters program, my teacher brought up that this career path is not uncommon for accountants.
I am currently sitting for the CPA and have passed 2/4, (waiting on the result for my 3rd). I had a 4.0 in my undergrad and a 4.0 in my graduate accounting coursework. I know that the FBI wants 3 years of work experience in the professional world. When would be the best time to start the application process for this? I just am trying to see all my options so I can get ahead. I am physically fit and would not have an issue moving after a few years. How selective are they for the younger swath of applicants? Is an accounting background a helpful one?

2025.01.23 00:12 ThrowRA_practical Is it normal for a Physical Therapist to request imaging and the referring doctor refuse?
I (25F) fell in August of 2023 and began having left sided wrist pain. Saw pcp in October who did a hand X-ray (negative) and prescribed splinting for one month. After 1 month of splinting and no relief in pain pcp ordered an MRI w/o contrast, then referred to a hand surgeon. MRI was completed in January of 2024 and was negative. Hand doc injected a steroid into the joint in March 2024 and pain was resolved. In October of 2024 pain returned and increased in severity and distribution. Saw hand doc again in December of 2024 who ordered PT referral. I started PT and after 4 visits the PT wanted a repeat MRI with contrast due possibly ligament injury. Hand doc said it wasn’t necessary and said to follow up in a few months. Is this normal for PTs to request imaging and it docs turn it down?
