If Andrea pops her hip and scoffs one more time, I’m going to have to fast-forward through ALL her scenes until Woodbury (Season 3, maybe?). By then, I like her MUCH better, despite her choice of lover.
She starts out annoying, aggressively pointing the gun she has no idea how to use; moves into likable as she fishes with Amy and defends Carol; then completely declines after S1E5. She’s practically intolerable: whiny, arrogant, weak, petulant. Even when she’s in the right, I want someone to slap her. She’s basically the spoiled, obnoxious 14yr old girl they wisely choose not to write in…but they wrote her instead.
Maybe the writers/showrunners couldn’t stand for Andrea to be strikingly pretty AND likeable too?

I'm getting double-jaw surgery in February, first week.
For context, my narc mom gave me to my grandparents when I was 1 and I lived with them full-time until they died when I was 17 & 18 respectively, so on top of her being insufferable there's just really only the most tenuous bond between us. Anyway, I got SARPE surgery in 2023 and my mom didn't come. This did not bother me as I never really plan around her being a parent or doing anything for me but a friend of hers said that she would have "dragged herself through glass" to be with her daughter during surgery and I guess it made her feel bad. She decided that she would try to fly out for this surgery (I live in California which is presently on fire, so I have a lot on my plate). I agreed to this, mostly because I feel like her pretending to have a relationship with me is good for her self esteem and it does me very little net harm. But, we've been planning this for months and now 2 weeks out she's talking about how she's going to have to go to Boston for work the same week as the surgery and trying to force me to look up her plane tickets and book the flights from TX to Boston to CA for her when I'm currently living in a Red Flag Warning Zone, evacuated last week (home is fine but still), and am single and planning for surgery. She wants me to be the one to cancel, I'm sure and to be perfectly honest it would be something of a relief for her not to come but it's still so embarrassing to have to go and tell all the people I've had on standby like "heyyyy guess whaaaaat my mom still doesnt love me and i have to rely solely on my friends for support sorrry xoxoxo." I'm fortunate to have good friends and not be fucked over by this but these are the moments that make me wish I was mean enough to tell her that this isn't affecting me because on of the last things her mother told me before she died was "Whatever happens from now on, don't feel bad about anything your mother does because I genuinely don't think that she's capable of loving anyone."
