Hi there! I'm having a weird issue with my K-1000 and I'm hoping someone on here might have insight. (I'm brand new to film photography as a whole, so forgive me if I don't use the correct terminology below lol).
Last week, I grabbed a beautiful K-1000 off of facebook marketplace. It seems that it's been kept in a closet for the past 40+ years - somewhat well taken care of, barely used.
Except for one issue - the shutter only sometimes fires properly (womp womp). Other times, it makes a bit of a sharp "thud" sound instead of the typical shutter sound. When I was shooting my first roll, I just assumed it wasn't exposing at all when that sound happened.
I just developed the roll, and it looks like it is partially exposing the film when it's misfiring. Here are a couple of examples (the shutter worked normally on the first photo below, misfired on the others).

Here are some observations:
- If I press the shutter button hard and fast, it pretty much always works. If I press the shutter button normally / a little soft, it misfires ~40% of the time.
- If I hold the camera upside down, it fires properly 100% of the time no matter how softly I press the shutter button.

 | So, I started snowboarding mid season last year. My first days were pretty rough. It was brutal, but I fell in love. I bought better gear, well better than the five dollar board I thrifted at Salvation Army. Now everyday that I am able to ride I try to progress a little bit. I have found that I love carving and surfing through trees. But most of all I love flat ground tricks. I love to butter. I have come to realize that this is best for learning edge control and body positioning. Iāve been progressing riding switch more each day. I ride switch as much as possible so I can unlock more ground tricks. a lot of people in my grade are going around and deleting tiktok off of peoples phones is there anyway i could save it i heard backing up might be a permanent solution? I'm just scared ill be sitting on my phone in the library and one guy grabs my phone and the other holds me down and they delete it and i cant get it back.

2025.01.23 03:12 Nyaa_UwU My HD60 X capture card isnt detecting the usb 3.0 port
Got an HD60 X recently, worked perfectly fine yesterday USB C plugged into one of my many USB 3.0 ports. my friend who has the same exact model has also been using the same exact cable I use and has never had an issue. Today as I boot up the software it is not detecting my USB 3.0 ports, any of them. I tried a different cable and it still didn't recognize any of my ports. All my USB drivers are up to date, a reset did not do anything.

Hey aspie friends; Iām feeling some serious imposter syndrome combined with a healthy dose of what I believe is fear. I just moved into my own studio apartment, and was asked shortly after move-in to be the manager of the 44 unit building in exchange for free rent.
All of this started with an extremely unsatisfactory and filthy share house with 12 other guys, which I entered after a 2 month stay in rehab and 3 catastrophic years of living with roommates before that. I searched on Zillow, found a studio, and somehow qualified for the apartment. This whole process started 3 weeks ago. Around 2 weeks ago I packed everything up and moved 2 hours away from the very high cost of living area I felt trapped in and had returned to after dropping out of college in 2023.
Suddenly I have an official job with a Real Estate company starting 02/01, along with my own apartment in the biggest city Iāve ever lived with free rent. I have no degree, and only 4 years of experience in food service and retail. This just fell into my lap, and I feel so desperately unqualified. 2024 was the worst year of my life, so the intensity of this sudden turnaround has been mindblowing.
Iām struggling to adapt to rapidly changing life circumstances, and terrified of my own potential inadequacy, but Iām simultaneously very grateful for how much circumstances have improved and stabilized in a short period of time. Anybody in a similar situation, who had struggled with feelings of incapability and suddenly been offered a position of (limited, but experientially relative) stability and success they thought they wouldāve have until 30, 40, 50, or never?

 | This picture was taken from a phone. I'm currently a "Front Desk Associate", but I eventually want to become an oral surgeon. Hygienist or assistant would be much more achievable though, considering I'm a single mom with 2 small kids. Anyway, please let me know any tips and tricks for better radiographs. I got my certification a few weeks ago, but I just got what felt like a dry, bare bones run through of what to do. I also want to perfect these before I ask for a raise. I'm making $13/hr but definitely feel worth more than that. They have me scheduling, treatment planning and presenting, managing consent forms, filing claims with some dating back to March of last year, etc. I've also started holding heads for surgeries, sterilizing and setting up rooms and tools, and spinning blood for plasma. Let me explain myself so I donāt sound like a complete psychopath. One morning I woke up to my lifeless pet in my arms a few years ago, now iām traumatized. Itās just a weird phobia, if I go to check on my crestie and he just falls flat. Sorry for this very uncomfortable explanation of why I asked such a weird question. But how can you instantly tell that it happened, or if thereās any perennial signs that let you know itās coming? Thereās been a lot of times Iāve thought my crestie died the first few weeks while he was just sleeping and Iād run to get my mom to check for me.
Also I wanna take responsibility and say when I bought him a year ago I didnāt really think about this situation, most people wouldnāt. Itās just dawning on me now heās not immortal. Obviously when it happens iāll swallow the pill I just wanna be prepared.. trust guys iām not some weakling

i painted my nails on friday night and im missing some of my thumb, index, and middle fingers on my dominant hand. i used products i thought were good quality (mooncat base coat, color, and top coat), buffed my nails, and dehydrated with acetone before painting. what can i do to make them last a week without chipping, or is it just impossible?

2025.01.23 03:12 Front_Ad_9728 How to get a spider out of my car
I first met this one a few days ago, it showed up on my windshield while I was driving at night, about 5 cm, gray, didn't pay any taxi fare. And when I noticed it, the streetlights cast this huge shadow of it inside my car, like the start of a horror movie.
Anyway, I thought it just hitched a ride and left, but today I opened my car door and it was inside (pretty sure itās the same oneā¦ I really canāt deal with the idea of there being more). I tried to evict this freeloading tenant, but of course didnāt work. Now itās hiding somewhere in my car, taking over my favorite napping spot.
Any tips on how to get rid of it? If I spray bug spray at night, will I end up killing myself before it does the job? I don't hate spider but really don't want one crawling up my leg while Iām driving, and I want my car bed back..
