22F (': there was some phlegm stuck inbetween my throat and nose and for the past hour or so ive been trying to cackle/cough it out and i think i overdid it. im unsure if my uvula was red prior to this (as this a common occurrence of me trying to get smth out of my throat) but this is the first time ive felt noticeable discomfort from my uvula and decided to check it out in the mirror today. i only started feeling the discomfort a few minutes ago after another round of coughing. ive never experienced this before and am worried if this will cause difficulty in breathing, based on the image is this something i should go to the doctor for or can it be remedied at home? thank you!

Large sections of Collendina Beach (Ocean Grove) have been shut to people and dogs to protect the chicks of the endangered Hooded Plover. The plovers breed annually, however it’s rare for the beach to be totally closed – normally people with dogs are allowed access if the dogs are on leash or under control. The chicks are at a vulnerable stage of development. I suspect the Barwon Coast Committee is concerned those decending on the beach for the Aust Day long weekend would not control their dogs and respect the chicks, so they’ve closed the beach. Please respect the closure if you are down that way.

I am in New York state and have employer-sponsored, self-funded BCBS with Carelon as our pharmacy benefits provider. I like to think of myself as pretty knowledgeable about health insurance, but I had a prior authorization be denied, and it’s honestly kind of stumping me. I know that my employer can opt not to cover pretty much any medication they want for basically any reason, and I’ve jumped through hoops before, even under this particular plan, to make sure the medications that I take are both (1) beneficial to me and (2) covered so I only have to pay my $14 copay. That said, I have run into a roadblock with the new year: I take both methylphenidate LA and amphetamine-dextroamphetamine ER and have for well over a year at this point. I know they’re duplicate meds, but that’s not actually the problem. The problem is that I don’t take them for ADHD, and my plan suddenly won’t cover them for anything but ADHD, despite both being FDA-approved for my condition. Is that something they can do? There are other meds for my specific condition that they don’t cover at all, which I understand. They’re extremely expensive specialty medications, but... not covering common, generic medications that are not being used off-label? That’s not clicking for me. Is this normal? Is there anything that I can do, other than wait for my neurologist to appeal?

Hopefully this fits within the sub reddit I (audhd 21) am currently working on making a fully accessible once a month class at a sewing business I help out at. My sister is a higher support needs person who's been hit by a glass ceiling of what's available in our city and I wanna change that. I'm wanting to be able to make a fun group for socializing but also to help maybe give people new skills but at a level that anyone could manage. Any ideas of any kinds of crafts/ sewing is welcome and needed since I want to be able to run this for a s long as possible.
