Whether you use "the less the better," "the fewer the better" or "the smaller the better" depends on what adjective fits for the noun that you are talking about. "little/not much + uncountable noun" --> The less the better. Example: I put very little icing on the cupcakes. As far as I'm concerned, the less the better! Hello. On one website (hbcusports.com) there was a saying "I can show you better than I can tell you". Could you please tell me if it means "You will understand whatever we are discussing better if I show you how to do it rather than just describe it to you in words"? Thank you. Because one of many lessons I’ve learned from the pandemic and its consequences is that focusing on being misidentified by a xenophobe is nothing better than trying to negotiate a more accurate insult. Hi, Does "be nothing better than" sound natural to you? I haven't seen this phrase before. Thanks. What does it mean? Before 1800, the expression I looked for appeared just in the expression "one of a better sort" and only in a few books, but "one of a better" really starts to be used during the second half of the 19th century and gains popularity during the last 100th of years. I could be wrong, of course, it's not easy finding real dates among all these. I´m doing a Quiz. I´going to show some pictures of my twin brother and me, and people have to guess who I am in each picture. This better be good actually means This had better be good. The construction had better is used to make recommendations, express desperate hope as well as warn people. In this case, it is a warning. Had better is often simply pronounced as better in spoken English. Hi, can someone tell me which is better? I'm a bit confused. At such a young age, she could only understand a few sentences that the reporter said and among which/of which, there was a pivotal sentence that prompted a string of her great deeds. Thanks!! When I say "No", I mean "you can also use "Are you feeling better" in your situation, meanwhile, it can refers to physical condition. But I will insist on "Do you feel better now". While "Are you feeling better" refers to someone, let's say, who catches a cold and the next day you raise the question "Are you feeling better now". Hello everyone, "There are three things I did well". Are there any words that can substitute the word "things". It doesn't sound formal enough to be used in an essay. Please help. Hello there, in the following sentence, should "better suited" be hyphenated or not? "The management team have promised to chose the options better suited to their clients' needs." or "...the options better-suited to their..." I'm tempted to hyphenate it because it's acting like an adjective (reduced from a relative clause). Thanks in advance ...

2025.01.24 01:53 thelionofverdun Can you change the 6 digit master programming code? Encode Plus frustration
Hi all:
Moved to a new to us house. They have the 6 digit master code on the Encode Plus. I can set a regular code no problem.
I’ve googled but can’t find anything definitive that’s helped me figure out how to change the 6 digit master code. If I can’t do that, everyone who has seen the code including all previous construction staff have access to change the access code at will.
Is there a way to change the 6 digit master code?

2025.01.24 01:53 mlou2006 app ideas for student self advocacy?
I’m looking for tech ideas.
This year I’m teaching two sections of pre-algebra to freshman with moderate disabilities.
They are great kids, but PAINFULLY shy and just refuse to call any attention to themselves or ask me for help when they’re working through problems. I think they are scared or drawing any sort of negative attention to themselves.
I wish there was a way for them to let me know they’re stuck without being noticed during work periods. Any apps or ideas?
Thanks fam ❤️

2025.01.24 01:53 DrkSpde BTU - FASCAM
So, I've fallen in love with turning the battlefield into a giant war crime, but I want to make sure I'm leaving the landscape unlivable for as many generations as I can, so I have some questions.
I'm working under the assumption that minefields created by larger LRM launchers do more damage. Is that correct, or do they just cover a larger area?
There's no minefield created when you target an enemy directly, right? I know older versions still showed the markers, but they didn't seem to do anything. The most recent patch doesn't leave those marks anymore, so I'm assuming targeting the ground is required.
Does firing FASCAM from multiple weapons result in more damage from the mine field? Or is it the same regardless of how many LRM20s the mech firers? Does it affect the size of the area mined?
Can you stack more mines on top of existing mines for more damage?
Are any units immune to the mines? Don't think I've ever seen battle armor trigger them.
Does the AI ever use them?

2025.01.24 01:53 unicornblink1820 Philosophy of “trolley problem” vs the $ million
First, I don’t think Mr Beast understands what makes the trolley problem interesting. The idea is whether or not it’s better to take an affirmative action that kills people vs doing nothing and more people dying. It’s about agency, not about if you rather save your friend or a Lamborghini lol
But I did think it was interesting the contrast between how I felt in the million dollar challenge vs this challenge.
I suspect most people in the million dollar challenge felt it would have been morally wrong to take the money and eliminate the row of people.
But most people also thought it was a no brained to take the car and eliminate 3 people - because you’re that much closer to the top 10 (plus you get a car).
I think the biggest difference is that the people in the million dollar channel were chosen and felt some duty to their team - but at the end of the day it’s still the same equation - only 1 person can win and you’re doing everyone whose left a favor by eliminating X amount of people.

2025.01.24 01:53 Georgeo57 what is the one problem that ai could solve that, once solved, would be most important to solving all other problems?
gemini 2.0 flash thinking experimental:
"The one problem that AI could solve that, if solved, would be most important to solving all other problems is significantly enhancing our collective human capacity for complex problem-solving itself.
Let me unpack this. It's not about AI directly solving climate change, poverty, disease, or any other specific global issue in isolation. Instead, it's about AI becoming a powerful tool that fundamentally amplifies our ability to understand, analyze, and find solutions to any complex problem we face.
Here's why this is the most foundational and impactful problem AI could tackle:
Complexity is the Root of Many Problems: Most of the world's biggest challenges – from climate change to economic inequality to pandemics – are incredibly complex systems. They involve countless interacting factors, feedback loops, and emergent behaviors that are difficult for humans to fully grasp and manage. Our current problem-solving methods, even with the best human minds, are often limited by this complexity.
AI as a Complexity Multiplier: AI, particularly advanced forms of machine learning and reasoning, excels at handling complexity. It can process vast datasets, identify intricate patterns, model complex systems, and simulate potential outcomes in ways that far surpass human capabilities. By leveraging AI, we could:
Gain deeper understanding of complex systems: AI could help us model climate systems with far greater accuracy, understand the dynamics of global economies in more detail, and unravel the intricacies of biological systems to combat disease.
Identify non-obvious solutions: By analyzing data and simulating scenarios, AI could uncover solutions that humans might miss due to cognitive biases or limitations in processing large amounts of information.
Optimize existing solutions: Even when we know what needs to be done, AI can optimize how to do it more efficiently and effectively, whether it's distributing resources, designing infrastructure, or managing complex projects.
Accelerate the pace of discovery and innovation: AI can assist scientists and researchers in analyzing data, generating hypotheses, and designing experiments, speeding up the process of scientific breakthroughs across all fields.
Meta-Problem Solving: Solving the problem of "enhancing our complex problem-solving capacity" is a meta-solution. It doesn't just address one specific issue; it equips us with a more powerful engine for tackling any issue. It's like giving humanity a vastly upgraded brain that can understand and navigate the complexities of the world more effectively.
Empowering Human Ingenuity: This isn't about replacing human problem-solvers. It's about augmenting them. AI would act as a powerful partner, providing insights, analysis, and options that humans can then evaluate, refine, and implement based on their values, ethics, and understanding of the broader context. It would free up human minds to focus on higher-level strategic thinking, creativity, and ethical considerations.
Examples of how this "enhanced problem-solving capacity" could be applied to other problems:
Climate Change: AI could develop far more accurate climate models, optimize renewable energy grids, design novel carbon capture technologies, and predict the impacts of climate change on different regions, enabling more effective and targeted mitigation and adaptation strategies.
Poverty and Inequality: AI could analyze economic data to identify the root causes of poverty, design more effective social safety nets, optimize resource allocation for development programs, and personalize education and job training to empower individuals.
Disease: AI could accelerate drug discovery, personalize medicine based on individual genetic profiles, predict and prevent pandemics, and optimize healthcare systems for efficiency and accessibility.
Resource Scarcity: AI could optimize resource management in agriculture, water distribution, and energy consumption, design sustainable materials, and develop closed-loop systems to minimize waste and pollution.
Important Considerations:
Ethical Development and Deployment: For this to be truly beneficial, the AI systems enhancing our problem-solving capacity must be developed and deployed ethically. We need to ensure they are aligned with human values, transparent, accountable, and prevent biases from being amplified.
Human Oversight and Control: While AI can be incredibly powerful, it's crucial that humans remain in control of the problem-solving process. AI should be a tool to augment our abilities, not replace human judgment and ethical considerations.
In conclusion, while AI can and will contribute to solving many specific problems, its most profound and impactful contribution would be to fundamentally enhance our collective human capacity for complex problem-solving. By tackling this meta-problem, AI could unlock a new era of human progress and empower us to address the challenges of the 21st century and beyond with unprecedented effectiveness."

2025.01.24 01:53 nyiskillingme Does one day make a significant difference for the moon brightness for the bio bay tour?
I am going to Vieques April 4th, leaving April 8th. The moon is the darkest on April 4th, but that’s also my longest travel day. Apparently the moon is going to be 11% more illuminated on the 5th. April 4th the moon is already about half full, so it’ll be 11% brighter than that April 5th.
Should I suck it up and rally on the 4th?
I feel like a maniac asking about one day difference but seeing mosquito bay is the thing I am most looking forward to!

2025.01.24 01:53 Sylvee_1 it's so odd when people complain about the 1% and then activity use the app that gives those same people the money they have
It's just feels so inane for people to activity be using those same apps, and even if people say something like their using it to spread awareness, 99% of the time it does nothing and most people will not remember the last 20 post they saw. If people really want change they should go outside and do something about it. I'll remember much more a random person standing outside saying "deny defend depose" then some random tiktok post I saw or that phrase being written on a random dollar. I think people just want to be part of a "revolution" and feel like their making a change rather than actually making one

[First Picture] The Mandalorians - Star Wars. A honourable race of people from the planet of Mandalore. They pride themselves on their armour and combative integrity, holding great significance to secularized codes of honour. The armour itself is commonly forged from Beskar, one of few materials capable of resisting lightsaber blades. [Second Picture] Pilots - Titanfall 2. Pilots are highly elite soldiers cleared to operate Titans.
