2025.01.25 01:22 No-Pear3605 Burst pipe in townhouse caused damage in neighbor’s house. Am I liable?
Hi all,
I have a rental property in Northern VA and with the freezing weather we’ve had, the outside faucet pipe apparently froze and burst inside my basement. By the time the tenant discovered it a few hours later, the water had seeped to the neighbor’s basement through the side wall and soaked her carpet, etc. She’s a big time witch and already told the tenant she’ll make me pay. What’s the law? There was no negligence in this case. Am I responsible or should she go through her insurance? Thank you

So I’m potentially getting a job offer with SUNY Cortland, but I’m unsure if I’d even want to live there. Thought it might be helpful to get some insights on here.
Some context: I’m ~27f, would be moving alone, and the salary would be somewhere between $60-$70k. I’d ideally not want roommates. I’ve heard that it can be difficult to make friends in this area, especially for people around my age. Has anyone else done something similar, and how did it go?

I already bought the SM7DB because it had the Cloudlifter built in (got it from Guitar Center new so no issues about it being a fake). I have it hooked up to the Presonus Studio 24c with the mic set to +26db and have been loving it!
But earlier today a friend gave me his Cloudlifter for free as he wasn't using it, I was wondering if it would do anything for my microphone?

He was Serbian; JUSE could’ve been Estonian or possibly Italian. The painting is of a doorway in Ibiza Town at night-time and it was a gift. It’s crazy how unlikeable Kate and jack are by season 5. Like Kate’s whole character is just being torn between jack and sawyer it’s hard to watch the scenes she’s in. She had way more potential as a character but turned into a plot device.
Jack too always seems to do the wrong thing like man I didnt think I could like sawyer and juliet as much as I do now.

2025.01.25 01:22 Competitive-Alps871 The tow truck possibly went onto the neighbors grass by maybe 1 foot. A tiny little mark, should the neighbor be told?
This happened a couple years ago. Had to have my dad‘s truck towed from the driveway. Our driveway is long and curved, and many times utility companies, etc. go onto the grass. The tow truck was here at night, so it was very hard to see, in spite of having the back porch light on. The tow truck driver said he thought he went on our grass a bit.
I didn’t worry about it, because I figured it was just part of our grass. a couple days later, the next-door neighbor sees me outside, and really basically choose me a new one over this left on the grass, which, after having a survey done a few months later, that mark was totally on our property. But I digress. And honestly, it wasn’t near as bad as it he made it out to be. Even though I told him we were having our lawn guy to come fix it, he continued to go on and on to me about it. It wasn’t good enough enough that I told him the lawn guy was coming to take care of it, he just kept going on and on. My brother came that same day and tapped it down (this was November), and come springtime, you couldn’t even tell anything was marked there.
I mean, should I have ran over to the next-door neighbor, telling them we had a tow truck here, it possibly went on their grass a bit? Again, the mark was about one foot long, and obviously if my brother was able to tap it down with his foot, it wasn’t that deep. And quite honestly, that neighbor, his family, and his visitors often used our driveway. Who is to say that somebody he knew, or one of them didn’t make that mark on the grass…? I mean, I didn’t literally see the tow truck guy make that mark. So there is that.
TL/DR: Tow truck guy made barely a 1 foot divot in our grass, neighbor assumed it was on his side (but after a survey months later, , it wasn’t), anyway, should I have told the neighbor? I can’t be 100% certain that it was the tow truck driver.

Hey everyone.. I know there’s probably several posts like this. I am 1.5 weeks post gastric bypass and I cannot get over how much I miss food. My cravings are so strong that they feel almost unbearable. My highest weight was 430, my weight the day of surgery was 395. I thought that weight loss surgery would fix my “head hunger,” but it feels worse than it ever has. Has anybody else dealt with this? I have nobody in my life that has had this surgery or know anything about it so I guess I’m just hoping someone reads this and can relate, and can hopefully say it gets better. I cry daily thinking about my old life, and how it will quite literally never be the same. I filled out the paperwork to give my surgeon on my 2 week check up on Monday that says I’m requesting a therapist. Before surgery I was so excited for this opportunity and I knew that I would not be eating the same.. but once I got home from the hospital I cannot escape the feelings of despair. I’m hoping once I see some progress that I will feel better, but damn. People that say WLS is the easy way out, you are so so wrong.

2025.01.25 01:22 wemustsetsail Wanting to resign and stay home.
I had twelve weeks of maternity leave and went back mid November. We have an amazing nanny who has been so much better than I ever could have imagined. I work from home so I still get to see LO every few hours to nurse her…..but it isn’t enough.
Since coming back to work, I am miserable. I work in a management position and feel completely unsupported by the rest of leadership. I feel unappreciated and get no satisfaction from my work. I have been with the company for nine years, and I they custom built this WFH position for me when the rest of the company is all in house when I moved out of state four years ago. I will never find another opportunity like what I have, but I also will never get this time with my daughter back. We also do not need my income.
We have a vacation planned for March, so I’m planning to give notice a month ahead of that and be done the Friday before. this gives me about three weeks from today to really think through if this is the right choice.
Everyone says I won’t regret making this decision, but I do think it would be nice to hear from others who have decided to stay home- especially if you have been home for a while. She is five months and would be seven months when I’m done. Sometimes I worry about the “isolation” but I also don’t think I will want to focus on time for myself or my husband or my friends when I get so little time with her as it stands.
