This will probably get taken down for being critical of the moderators, but I just think it’s a double standard. Local sports fans are brigaded and trolled in this sub by toxic users who want to erase us from the Bay.
We’re told that we have to go on other subs to have these discussions, even though posts about companies operating in Asia with no staff or offices in the Bay get to stay up
What’s going on here, seems to me, is that tech bros think they own the sub and get to exclude people who want to talk to their Bay Area neighbors about sports. I don’t think this kind of arbitrary separation is right. Bay folk should be able to talk about what we find interesting where we want to
I’m hoping this post will be allowed to stay up, but not confident it will. I’m sure it will immediately get brigaded and downvoted by a bunch of angry trolls who find any kind of entertainment appealing to the masses to be beneath them and an inconvenience, but I’d like to hear what a range of people who use BayArea have to say.
I ask the mods that this post be allowed to stay up for at least 24 hours to allow a thorough discussion of the topic. Thank you.

Social Darwinism, in short, is essentially "Might Makes Right" (no pun intended) raised to a political "philosophy". Long story, but it a warped distorted version of natural selection and theory of evolution, promoted by Herbert Spencer, one of Darwin's contemporaries. He assumes that harsh, merciless competition raises the quality of humanity, gives better results, etc. Not surprisingly, a lot of 19th century industrialists (that time's equivalent of Big Pharma, Big Tech, and "The Billionaires") promoted it because they saw Social Darwinism as a justification for their own personal greed and their callousness toward the weak, poor, stupid, and helpless.
The problem with Social Darwinism it focuses on the narrow dog-eat-dog struggle aspect of evolution, and in doing so misses the broader picture of how nature works. Evolution is as much about cooperation between the strong who still lack a useful trait and a weaker who does have a useful trait. Thus, shitting on the weak and refusing to help the stupid, etc. is simply bad policy (business, government, whatever) and thus not good for the long-term well-being of the company or nation.
In political and business environments, dog-eat-dog mercliess roughness doesn't lead to better results: it leads to high staff turnover, increased sickleave, increased time-off when workers can get it, and "presentism" (decreased productivity per working hour).
So it is that rough and tough methods, abolishing rules/regulations, is less likely to produce better results for the company and more likely to enrich only the rulers, the strong, and the managers themselves. Corruption and "good ole boy'ism" also tends to run rampant. Not surprisingly, it forces the employees to spend valuable time and energy in "alliance building", backscratching, and "turf wars" instead of actual productive tasks needed to achieve goals.
So while Social Darwinism does make sense on the surface, it simply doesn't hold up under pressure.

Ok so I been playing a week and love it, a friend introduced me and there's three of us irl now playing it, all of us are level 30-36. It's a fun app (and will we ever be able to play together in a scene?)!
Sooo...
I've spent all my time making a cool castle with organization (so running to collect stuff to build and unlock and filling up the biggest chests with things for making armor and crafting weapons etc).
- I'm getting exiles all the time constantly in maps and it's a pain to avoid (they seem to show up when I go into inventory especially) so, I don't engage as they sap sooo much of my work, but it's almost constant! How am I triggering them so much? 3-4 a map minimum!!!
- I can't figure out how to get enough resources to make better items to survive dire wolves and lvl 2 skull scenes #specifically nails and tin!!! -What's the next step to being able to harvest that?
- I can't survive lvl 2 skull scenes -monsters and dire wolves deplete a day of resource work in just 20-30 seconds if I even survive creeping past them (or am able to run away in time). What gear should I focus on more?

I was fortunate to have grown up in the neighborhood in the 70’s when it still was very much “Little Hungry.” On Second Avenue in the low 80’s we had a fantastic store called Parikas Weiss, which contained very much the same items listed in this old picture. I would go with my mom there to buy paprika and other items. They have a cookbook that is long out of print but you can find on line. The corner where Chirping Chicken is now was a fantastic Hungarian butcher, essentially the Hungarian version of Schaller & Weber. Please forgive me if this was already asked in another post and I just can't find it ^^
I want some practical ideas on what I should prep to protect myself in the upcoming years. Here's a list of what I'm currently doing/have done
- got an IUD (went for the Mirena since it's at least 8 yrs, maybe 10 according to some studies)
- getting a new passport/scheduling an appointment to get it done. I'm afab and identify as a woman, so I don't anticipate facing the issues that a lot of my trans sisters are facing (and I truly wish you luck if you're in this position). My boyfriend is a dual citizen of Australia; I don't currently plan on leaving for another country but I want to have a rip cord if the situation gets dire.
- I'm on monthly meds, I plan on getting a 90 day supply to try and stave off the effects of the prescription drug hikes. I've been stock piling my as needed ones for years, but I plan on doing one more 90 day refill just to make sure I'm good for at least a year
- found a gyno who plans to stay in my state (I'm in the one trying to push the death penalty for abortion because of fetal personhood! lovely right/s)
- stock piling my savings. I plan on paying off my next credit card bill in full, then putting 50% of my checks in a high yield savings account
- stocked up on some N-95 masks
- Making a list of vaccines I need to get boosters on; I had to get a lot redone for college and I never went through with the second appointments for a few of the vaccines so I'm getting on that
- currently in women's self defense courses, I'd like to pick up a gun safety course in the future as well but my roommates aren't comfortable with the idea of keeping a gun in the house (which I can understand so I don't plan on pushing the issue)
I'm trying to work on my fear of getting sterilized, I hope my savings can carry me through the procedure if I can't get it before the ACA is repealed and if my insurance won't cover it.
Please give me other ideas if there's anything you think I'm missing!
