So admittedly, I'm a relatively new manager. I'm essentially posting here as I feel like I'm doing some hing wrong, but I'm struggling to put my finger on it. Few bullet points fo context:
- currently doing a management qualification
- chartered accountant
- currently going through audit (year end was December close), and starting on Jan month end
We have weekly huddles, where important stuff is rolled out so we e have a chance to discuss. Any changes to month end reporting, key deadlines coming up, site visits from senior management etc.
Also, of specific tasks need doing, I tend to email them out, or if they're high profile mention them in the huddle and then send a follow up email. If it's a deadline that's a while out, I'll make sure to send further reminder emails as appropriate. Could be as part of mentioning it on the huddle with a follow up email, or just the email at a sensible time (eg half way to the deadline) as well as mentioning it here and there in the office.
Problem is, stuff doesn't seem to be getting done. Even by my better team members.
Eg, leading up to the audit both myself and my line manager has been involved in the balance sheet checks. One of the key things is to make sure everything has support. This was first highlighted 3 months before month end and was reiterated regularly.
I explicitly asked everyone in their balance sheet reconciliations if they had everything supported, as did my manager.
I asked it in various ways over the months, to give the message the best chance of getting through:
- have you got support for everything
- is there evidence for every balance on here
- everything is ready for the auditors
- is there anything that may cause a p oblem if the auditors ask
- do you need any support in escalating to confirm support
In the past I have spot checked random elements, but due to the size of the files, it would be a huge amount of time to review them in depth for every code. Plus, it would be quite "micro manager"-y.
My problem is that it's making me feel like I "should" be micro managing them. But that's often considered the wrong thing to do.
Am I off the mark here?

Okay, I have been trying to start a home lab within a virtual machine. I've been following steps provided by a YouTube video on adding custom rules created by me to the GUI. I used Filezilla to set up a SFTP connection and I've placed the file in the correct suricata folder. The file states that it is successfully transferred but after refreshing the GUI there is no new costum rule to download and install. Can someone pls help?

While this show has incredible storytelling, scriptwriting, and stunning scenes, I feel there are some issues that have kept it off the Greatest Of All Time list. 1.) While I know historic liberties are needed in a television show, it does not merit a history buffs praise. Nordic history was let’s use the word correctly “colorful” they loved that stuff and no matter every Viking show or Movie they wear grey, black or blue.
2.) Uhtred aging for sure has issues. Either a blessing from the “Gods” or a lack of character accountability. It’s hard to gauge time.
3.)The numbers of people and size of war parties are never consistent. 5 boats leave the shores and 1000 people show up to the fort.
4.) Brida. Literally all and everything Brida. I will share nothing more in this post but you know what I mean.
5.)As a medical professional all of the illnesses, injuries, and health conditions. I they never had a real expression of anything. I was unaware everyone turned white when sick or dying but in the last kingdom, you turn pale you have caught the death.

Ich habe gestern ganz viel für D&D gemacht. Zum Beispiel habe ich endlich Mal ein paar Seiten im neuen Dungeon Master Guide gelesen, und das was uninteressant war einfach übersprungen. Außerdem spiele ich nachdem ich im Mai Session 1 hatte am Sonntag nächste Woche endlich wieder meinen eigenen Charakter. Ich hab für sie vor Ewigkeiten einen Mini bei Hero Forge bestellt und den gestern endlich bemalt.
Genau einen Monat später hab ich das Finale des D&D 2024 One Shots geplant, den ich Online spiele. Zumindest den großteil. Von den Battlemaps ist erst eins fertig, und die Kämpfe stehen auch noch nicht fest. Da kommt ja Mitte des Monats das neue Monster Manual raus.
Außerdem hab ich heute zwei neue Würfelbehälter die ankommen, dann kann ich auch meine neuen Würfel mal mitnehmen. Oh und Filme kommen ganz viele. Sogar Coraline, auf den ich schon echt lange warte.
Ich hab viele würfel. Bestimmt 15 Sets.
