2025.01.30 17:43 cubehacker Anyone else notice worse performance after the last update?
Obviously they added a lot of new graphical features that could potentially have an impact. But I'm noticing significantly worse performance post patch. I'm running a 5800x3d with a 7800xt and I pretty much get way above 60fps on every planet. This is with everything on ultra. But now, I'm getting drops down into the 50s and even 40s.
Wondering which settings have the biggest impact on fps to maybe turn a few things down.

I've been wanting to start making little home videos documenting my life for myself for a while. I'll be going to Sweden with my grandmother in May and Arizona with my dad in March. I'd really love to document these trips in a vlog style format so I can relive memories, especially the trip with my grandma.
I'm looking for something budget friendly since I'm working with around $500. It needs to be lightweight since I'm going to be doing a lot of hiking with it, and I'd love to get something that can do a good job at capturing the beauty of nature/landscapes. I'd also appreciate if it was beginner friendly since I've only ever used my iPhone.
I'd also appreciate equipment recommendations, things to prop my camera on to get a good shot or keep my camera steady, that kind stuff.

I’m 26, and I’ve been struggling with PCOS and hormonal issues since I can remember. I got my first period at 12, and right from the start, things were irregular. I experienced hair thinning and facial hair growth almost immediately, which left me feeling hopeless, especially as I entered my 20s.
I’ve been overweight my whole life, despite trying every diet out there. It’s been frustrating because I’ve always been active—playing multiple sports growing up, training constantly, and being the most athletic I could be. But no matter how hard I worked out or how healthy I ate, I was always the biggest girl on every team.
The hormonal imbalances were so bad during my teenage years that I ended up hospitalized for mental health issues. I was dealing with depression, mood swings, and just not feeling good in my own skin.
This past week, on my birthday, I decided to give it one more shot with a new doctor. Over the past year, I’ve seen so many physicians, only to have my concerns brushed off or ignored. They would either tell me to eat less, exercise more, or push birth control as the only solution. One doctor even told me to eat no more than 1,200 calories a day and to work out six days a week for hours. It just felt so unfair and unrealistic, especially since I’m already very active.
But this time, I found an MD who took me seriously right away. He listened, acknowledged my concerns, and showed real empathy. He even shared that he has diabetes and understands the struggle. He immediately put me back on ADHD meds (which I’ve been struggling to get for over a year and a half) and prescribed me Metformin and Spironolactone for my PCOS. He also discussed the option of injections to help manage my weight.
For the first time in years, I feel like I’m finally on the right path. It was so validating to have a doctor who truly listened and didn’t just tell me to exercise more or take birth control. He’s taking my concerns seriously, especially around my weight and fear of developing diabetes. He even ordered hormonal blood work to see where my levels are at, something other doctors have flat-out refused to do in the past.
I’m so excited and relieved to have found a doctor who is really in my corner after so many dismissive experiences. After spending hundreds of dollars and getting nowhere, it finally feels like I’m making progress.

2025.01.30 17:43 Available_Rough_2315 Someone hit my car & now they’re acting sus
A car hit my car the other day and left a dent. My car was parked & I was inside a store when it happened so the other driver is 100% at fault. They left a note with their phone number but I did not get their name or insurance. An absolute angel of a witness left a photo of the license plate on my windshield so I have the plates also.
I asked her if she would rather sort it out ourselves or go through insurance - she said sort it out ourselves.
At first, the person was very cooperative when I reached out to them. I went to a shop to get an estimate - $3000. She was very skeptical about the estimate and claimed they were overcharging me. Understandable, since the damage did not look super bad from the outside. She also started nit-picking the details on the estimate, claiming that certain things don’t require a fix, etc.
She asked me to get a second estimate, which I did. The second one was about $500 less. Now she is claiming that she didn’t leave a dent in my car, although both shops confirmed that she did.
At this point, I just told her I want to proceed with insurance and we can let them handle it. I asked her a second time for her insurance. She left my message on read for 3 days. I reached out again and told her that unless she can compensate me for the damage, I will have to file a police report and go to my insurance.
She finally reached out again today and told me that she has a mechanic who she wants me to bring my car to. I’m not thrilled with this idea, as I have brought my car to 2 places already for an estimate, which I feel is more than enough in my opinion.
I’m not sure how to proceed. I don’t feel comfortable using her mechanic - I’m scared they will underestimate what is going on if she knows them personally. I also think it is very suspicious that I’ve asked for her insurance twice now and she ignored it. What should I do?
