2025.01.31 00:15 ICanBeWithYouNSpirit I’m lost on how to stop.
I’ve been drinking daily since I was 19. I’m 37 in a few months. I know how I got here, and why I continue to drink. 5 years ago I had a good try at stopping, and began to wean myself off. It went well for the most part, but I couldn’t stop still. Thankfully, I was able to lower my intake from about 15 + lagers a day to x5 16oz a day. I drink when I get off of work, usually the second I get home (I know a lot of us have said this before). I’m usually in control, but here and there I can still (gladly) over drink my allotted amount. Up to 9+.
I’m scared for my health. I’m scared for my family. I have a 12 month old son who means the world to me, and a wife of 12 years. Never really planned to have a kid but, now that he’s here, I can’t imagine my life without him. I want to be around for him, do the best I can for him. If ever I had a reason to stop, it would be for him.
I am the primary provider for our household and my wife deals with several demons of her own (not addiction related) so I tend to take a lot of the responsibility for a lot of duties in our lives. Maybe it’s a tale as old as time, but I can’t support my family and go to rehab. I can’t be gone and leave my wife to solely care for our son. I’m lost, scared and I feel very alone. My wife’s father died because of his alcoholism, and I see the shame in her eyes that I am repeating her trauma from that with each beer I crack open.
How does one go get help and still provide? How can I care for myself when we can’t afford that I leave for an extended period of time? Any advice is welcome. I just want to be healthy and happy, and be there for my family.

Hi Guitars, you'd be so kind to help me in this choice of mine?
Little story of my journey: I'm a bassist who started playing guitar because, some years ago, I couldn't find for the life of me a guitarist to collaborate on my doom/gothic/hxc project. So I chose a low end strat-like Yamaha with HH pickups and a tailpiece to begin to learn. After three years I decided to buy another guitar, to boost my creativity with something new. And I'm trying to decide between a Strato SSS type kind of guitar or a classic Telecaster (without humbuckers or something like that)
I'll let you know some practices and trivia about me that maybe you'll find useful: - I tend to write songs with my acoustic but I always feel home playing an electric, that's where I began though - My favourite guitarists are John Frusciante, Geoff Farina from Karate, John Mayer and Mike Einzinger from Incubus - I have a pretty good right hand: it's fast and It has the chops to play some funky rhythms quite well - I can't play a solo to save my life and I'm not a fan of them anyways - I would like a guitar with a tremolo, but I tend to dislike the shape and the sound of a Strato: I find It a Little bit dull and boring (maybe I listened far too many strato players in my life). - I kinda like the character of the Tele but I can't stand that ear piercing high end of that distorted sound, you know what I mean

Am I the only one who's pissed that the Netflix show used Limp Bizkit for the opening song when Dante has always been associated with Metal?
For me I've always seen every game's ost as integral to the characters, the stories and the franchise. Dmc 5 using 4 different metal sub ganre to represent the 4 playable characters cemented this further for me, so seeing a beautifully animated opening and then turing on the volume just to hear Limp Bizkit is sad man. How does this make sense? Is it really just because punk is more marketable? Do the creators even know anything about rock/metal music? Is this meant to be a love letter to the franchise or a soulless corporate cash grab made for mass appeal? Because no one in their right mind would ever associate Limp Bizkit with Dmc.
Dmc isn't punk and has never been punk it's metal.
