This thread is for general discussion, from questions or topics about Zelda that may not merit their own thread, to generalized meta-oriented topics about the subreddit, or even just to chat about other aspects of life.

You make this subreddit! There has been lots of discussions about Tears of the Kingdom since launch, some about lore, some about gameplay. There definitely has been a lot of critiques about the game. As well as users pointing out this subreddit complains a lot.
Our suggestion: Make topics you want to discuss. Use your upvotes to push them up. Want to discuss your favorite moment in TotK? Post it! Want to share a fun mechanic you learned? Post it! Don’t enjoy a topic? Don’t upvote it! Be the change you want to see. Start making posts about things you enjoyed in the game, what about those elements that you enjoyed, etc. Balance your criticisms with construction.
What we do as mods to help We do have a soft general policy of no recent reposts. So if a given topic was posted recently, we may remove new posts on that given topic and point the new posters to the recent post instead so that the same topic is not discussed repeatedly to flood the subreddit. Though this is a grey area with the nature of discussion posts - sometimes people will make generalized floor-opening posts, but also people will make other more specific opinionated posts, so the not every overlapping post is necessarily a repost.
We also do try to limit users from gatekeeping the fandom. Like mentioned in the sidebar, this subreddit is not foabout “True” fans. Unfortunately we cannot rename the subreddit and it is an old reddit naming pattern used to mean “discussion”-focused subreddit. We try to limit any user telling other users that someone else is not a "real" fan for any reason. But stepping in on genuine criticism can be tricky too - your user reports can really help bring this issue to our attention when you find it.
Meta Topics and Reading Material While we mods have been taking notes on the meta feedback we have seen popping up in various threads, it is a lot more productive and effective to discuss these topics here in the monthly thread where other community members can expect to find them and where we mods can keep track of them easier. Please let us know your thoughts and suggestions here in the comments!

I've lived most of the last 6+ years (6.5 this month) of sobriety in relative comfort, never really having to justify my decision to not drink to anyone. Most people in my immediate circle accept my sobriety easily and when asked if I want a drink by a stranger, a simple "no thank you, I do not drink" is enough. Until this past week...
I spent the last week curling in Canada. I am a curler, with the rocks, and the ice, and the sweeping, and the yelling. Most curling clubs have bars in their facilities. I started curling on hockey ice without a bar, so it was easy to disassociate alcohol from curling, and many people at my current club do not drink. Our bar even got Polar seltzer for those of us who choose not to imbibe for whatever reason. Most clubs I visit have the same.
However, this past week I had to justify my choice not to drink more than once, stating clearly, "I have almost 6.5 years of sobriety." I've never seen people behave so poorly inside a hotel in my life, worse than hockey parents, or even bridal parties. This behavior is condoned and even encouraged. It left a weird taste on what was amazing curling, and meeting some great people.
But, the most important part is that I walked away still sober. Sometimes, the poor behavior of drunk people is enough to reinforce my good choices, even in the midst of my 'monkey mind' that still claims I can have "just one." No, no I cannot. And more importantly, I do not want it.
I think of this as a big win in a culture that promotes alcohol consumption. It can be done.

Growing up I've always been told like if you keep doing a certain thing too much, pretty soon you'll crave it. I've gone through phases where I've smoked a lot of things habitually, and even had phases where I drank daily.
Typically it would be instigated by who I was neighbors with at the time. But once I or they move out or get too busy to hang out, I never seek out the drink, cigarette, weed or vape, or whatever on my own.

My flair says Nonbinary, but that's not true. I'm a trans woman, but I don't have the bravery to transition. I tried transitioning a decade ago, but ultimately stopped for reasons that were initially beyond my control.
With what's going on right now, I don't feel safe being my genuine self. I'm going to keep dressing in men's clothes, keeping my hair short, and not shaving. I don't feel safe being trans, not even in my very progressive city.
I'm going to hide, and I won't come out of hiding until all of this is over.

Her biological father was actually a Greek immigrant my grandmother had an affair with (yeah… I know). We know very little about the man, except that he was “100% Greek”. However, I’m confused now. My 23andMe came up that I am 25% Greek but my updated genetic group came up that I am connected through shared ancestors from the Pelagonia valley in North Macedonia. I mean it makes sense with how things are in the US right now, plus some major personal life changes. I had a dream recently though about being in a valley where a nuclear bomb was dropped. My best friend and I were running from the detonation, but I looked back and they got dissolved instantly, and I was next, so I said I love you to my friend and my dog who passed a year ago and then “experienced” death with no pain, then the dream recycled to something else altogether, something mundane, and I woke up shortly after. I didn’t feel afraid after I woke up. Just sad.
