Hey everyone, I am going to be a father in June/July and I figured I was going to sort of go all out and build myself a nice computer that should be able to last me a long time since I have no clue when I'm going to really get the time/opportunity again to research parts and have the time to actually do the build itself.
Money isn't really an issue for me right now, but now that my build is done, I'm pretty unhappy about it, unlike my last build which I really enjoyed.
Specs:
CPU - Ryzen 7 7700X
CPU Cooler - Thermalright PS 120 SE Black
RAM - 4 16 GB Sticks of G.SKILL D5 6000
Storage - 2 4TB WD Black NVME drives and an 8 TB WD HDD
MOBO - Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX V2
GPU - Sapphire Nitro+ RX 7900 XTX
PSU - Corsair SHIFT RM1000X
Case - BeQuiet! 501 White Airflow
Case Fans - BeQuiet Silent Wings 4
My main complaints:
The case was quite a bit bigger than I was expecting from the reviews I watched of it, it looked a bit smaller, and there is a high pitched whine I hear when I am roughly a few feet away from my computer (basically the distance from the computer to my chair), when I get closer to the case to investigate the source of the sound, it magically disappears. I can hear this even when I have my headphones on, unless if the game is getting loud enough it is hard for me to not focus on it.
The 7700X runs ridiculously hot,I even put the motherboard into an ECO mode setting that supposedly drops it down to 65 Watts instead of the default 100+, but I am getting nearly 80 C while just gaming at 60 FPS, 1440p on Stalker 2.
The CPU Cooler fans sometimes have a weird high pitched whine to them, I don't know if they're the source of the constant whine I hear or not, I've only singled it out a few times while I've had one of the panels open; I've thought about trying one of the other TR coolers, or maybe bite the bullet on the new Noctua cooler.
The GPU has a lot more coil whine to it than my 2070 Super did, I went AMD because I am using Fedora Linux and wanted good Wayland support, so far that has been working fine for me, with the exception that Gigabyte has no support for their Super I/O chip on the motherboard, which means it is impossible for me to control the fan curves from within the Operating System, I can set a CPU fan curve in the bios, which I did, but the case fans are left to themselves outside of the physical switch they have on them.
Complaints over:
My previous build was an NR200 itx case, I had it loaded with Noctua fans, everything had a custom fan curve, and it was pretty much inaudible most of the time unless if I was gaming (even then it was pretty quiet.) I think I want to try and go for a somewhat smaller build, maybe microATX, keep most of the parts I have and repurpose other parts as a computer build for my sister. I have a 750 Watt PSU already, and my 2070 Super is a lot better than what she has.
I figured if I did this, I would have the opportunity to chose a mobo that is more compatible with Linux so I can set custom fan curves from within the OS, while the Super I/O chip issue won't be a problem on Windows 11.
What is everyone's thoughts on this? What would you do if you were in my shoes, am I just acting crazy? If not what parts would you switch out for what in my circumstance?

I’ve been reflecting a lot on my past relationship, and I’m struggling to make sense of what happened. My ex treated me horribly—emotionally manipulative, dismissive, and sometimes downright cruel. They made me feel like I wasn’t even human at times. After everything they did, they completely cut me off, blocked me on everything, and moved on as if I didn’t matter at all.
I’m left wondering how someone can treat someone like that and just walk away without facing any consequences. I’ve been trying to heal, but it’s hard not to feel like they just got away with their behavior.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation? What happened to your ex after they treated you so badly? Did they ever face any kind of accountability for how they treated you, or did they just continue their life as if nothing happened? I love the dry sauna because I can just body shower and move on with my life—and it supposedly has a ton of benefits. I don't sweat very much, and my hair is on the dry side, so I can go several days without washing it, and honestly, it looks better the dirtier it gets.
I lightly oil my hair with Olaplex and sleep in a bonnet almost every night, which lets me wake up with amazing hair (10/10 would recommend it to ANYONE). But then I go into the sauna and then it sucks the life out of it. Does anyone have a similar routine but has found a way to keep their hair nice in the dry sauna?

 | Hi! I continued working on my project (PS4 inside a PS2), and just finished the external power supply! I tried to do my best. 3d printed case (assembly with brass inserts and dovetails, no glue), ref shield made from a sheet metal from an Xbox 360, active cooling with a 40mm noctua fan (air passes through the entire housing before exiting)... I used an 8 pin pc GPU connector to power the console. For those who would like to do the same thing, you really have to be careful : these PC power cables normally have 4 pins for +12v, and 4 pins for ground. The thing is, on my cable, the 4 +12v pins, and the 4 GND pins are connected randomly between each others, since it normally doesn't matter. This means that if I change the cable, or even if I plug my cable the wrong way, I could burn everything. I don't know if I'm making myself clear lol It's not a big deal but I would have preferred to find another solution. I preferred to start with the PSU so that I could then do the tests more easily. The rest will surely be more exciting! Hi! I’m really confused right now because I’m trying to file taxes and I received a 1099-R form and it’s saying I owe money for it? Everywhere I look it says I got the form because I must have taken money out of the retirement account. I haven’t. I no longer work at the place, but I haven’t received any money from my account and definitely did not ask to have that money taken out. I just wanted it to sit there until I had an account to roll it into. What do I do here? Any advice is appreciated!
