i met my soulmate but I was too fucked up and sabotaged the whole thing. he was so patient with me and I kept ruining things over and over. he broke up with me but kept seeing me on and off for a year. the last 2 months have been amazing but he still doesn't want to get back together. I'm crushed. I fucked everything up and I'll never forgive myself. there's nothing I can do to repair it, the damage has been done. he acknowledges we have a good time together and things have been good, but he still says I'm not what he wants anymore

2025.02.01 20:32 Tail-or-fail Help plz - 28, no savings, struggling with finances
Background info: I’m a 28 year old first year teacher making 50k. Teacher retirement fund takes a mandatory 14% of each check, so my monthly income is $2500
My girlfriend and I do have a combined income, however she lost her job bringing home about the same wage as me in November 2024. This occurred earlier in the year as well, leaving us with a single income from June-August 2024. In addition, we had to move just before this occurred due to land lord selling property. We’ve ran through our savings and accrued some debt (about 3k) while she was out of work. Feels like we’re starting from scratch again. She has found a new job as of last week, which should bring in at least 2k monthly (serving).
Our monthly expenses are close to 4k ($1600 rent, $600 combined car payments, $160 phone, $200 insurance, ~$500 house bills, $300-400 groceries, ~$150 gas) and that’s before any leisure spending or attempt to save.
Neither of us have been financially responsible in the past. I severely struggled with gambling addiction over the past 2 years and lost about 4k of our savings during that time. My girlfriend has struggled with alcoholism and maintaining employment at times due to mental health.
We have both given up basically all our vices/leisure activities that we used to spend money on, which is a good start, but we want to work towards being financially independent - where do we start?
TLDR; combined income of just over 4k, monthly expenses of nearly 4k, how do my gf and I start building towards financial independence?

For context, I started with around 3,000+ coins. Someone I know greeted me a ton, bumping my balance up to 21,000+, but now it's dropped to 14,978, which is crazy. I wouldn’t be this upset since it's still a 10k+ profit, but it also happens in chat rooms. Every time I pick up coins from diamond rides, the coins show up, and a few minutes later, my balance reverts to the original amount, wasting my time. And it's not easy collecting tons of coins on a laggy game, lol.

I owe $2,872.53 left on my auto loan. I called CarMax to ask about what my payoff is and it is still the same amount. So does carmax not remove the additional interest fees for paying off your car early? Or did the rep on the phone not give me accurate information?
