I recently built my first PC and am looking to upgrade my monitor. It seems like there are infinite options and I’m having trouble narrowing it down.
I use my monitor for both work and gaming. I currently have a 25” 1440p acer with a 60 Hz refresh rate. I’m mainly interested in getting a higher refresh rate for gaming.
Is there a real difference between say 144, 160, and 180 Hz? Does AMD FreeSync matter and is the premium version noticeably different?

270 Hz seems very high, but it’s similarly priced to other monitors at 180 and below. Is it past the point of diminishing returns? Is there something wrong with it that I’m missing?
For context, my CPU is a Ryzen 7 9700X and my GPU is a Radeon RX 7900 GRE.
