I've recently been "volunteered" as the GM for an upcoming D&D group at a local LGBTQ community center. I haven't DMed in a looooong time, so I'm definitely going to want to stick to a module rather than trying to do it all myself. The catch is that the activity director still isn't sure whether to start with an adult group or a youth group - if the first one is successful, they plan on starting a second. Does anyone have a recommendation for a 1st-level module that would be good both for adults who might already be experienced players and kids who might have never rolled a die before?

There's an interesting new study out on the microbiome changes from coffee consumption. The bacteria identified is a butyrate-producing bacteria. This may explain some of the positive connections between coffee and health.
Coffee consumption is associated with intestinal Lawsonibacter asaccharolyticus abundance and prevalence across multiple cohorts
Abstract: "Although diet is a substantial determinant of the human gut microbiome, the interplay between specific foods and microbial community structure remains poorly understood. Coffee is a habitually consumed beverage with established metabolic and health benefits. We previously found that coffee is, among >150 items, the food showing the highest correlation with microbiome components. Here we conducted a multi-cohort, multi-omic analysis of US and UK populations with detailed dietary information from a total of 22,867 participants, which we then integrated with public data from 211 cohorts (N = 54,198). The link between coffee consumption and microbiome was highly reproducible across different populations (area under the curve of 0.89), largely driven by the presence and abundance of the species Lawsonibacter asaccharolyticus. Using in vitro experiments, we show that coffee can stimulate growth of L. asaccharolyticus. Plasma metabolomics on 438 samples identified several metabolites enriched among coffee consumers, with quinic acid and its potential derivatives associated with coffee and L. asaccharolyticus. This study reveals a metabolic link between a specific gut microorganism and a specific food item, providing a framework for the understanding of microbial dietary responses at the biochemical level."

I just finished The Last Policeman and one of it's sequels Countdown City by Ben Winters. In these books a huge asteroid is set to collide with Earth in ~6 months, and the protag is trying to solve a crime while society slowly falls apart. I really enjoyed these books (I plan to get the third next trip to the library) the pending doom vibe was really interesting. On October 18th we found toxic mold in our home. It is in several walls, flooring and inside our hvac system. We have been sick for a while now with no answers from any doctor. I have been to countless doctors appointments with different doctors. We are sick all the time for weeks on end with no relief. Nothing natural or western medicine made anything go away. Our home had no signs of mold. I was so tired of being sick and tired I prayed and asked God for wisdom on what was wrong with us. We have never been this sick and back to back like we have. I felt God say mold so clearly but of course I didn’t listen and said there’s no way our house looks amazing! Two days later my dad randomly said have you thought about testing for mold. I knew in that moment God was giving me a gentle reminder. We hired someone to test for mold and we found our answer. Mold is a silent killer and I’m so thankful God revealed what was going on. Reading about the molds we have is like reading our medical history that the doctors could never piece together.
What this means going forward. Selling our home is not a viable option so we must remediate. Insurance will not cover a penny. We are looking at around 70k just to remove the mold and replace the hvac system. This does not include building back the walls, replacing all the flooring, the bathroom, our items we have to throw away, and our medical bills. We have to throw away everything porous. Our mattress, shoes, purses, couch, chairs, toys, plants, fans, hairdryer, curtains, floor mats, vacuum, all our amazing books and more. Financially, physically and emotionally this has been hard to process. There is also the healing side. We will need to seek medical help from functional health doctors and they do not take insurance. This whole process once started will take a few months to remove the mold and during that time our home will be considered a hazardous zone and we cannot live there.

Hey everyone,
I’m having a tough time with my Tesla Model 3 Long Range (70 Reg), and I’m hoping someone here can offer advice or share a similar experience. My car has an unbearable rear motor whine noise between 32mph and 54mph. It’s always present but is much louder and more intrusive on some days. The sound is like a high-pitched dentist drill—most noticeable around 35-38mph. The noise stays constant as long as there is some pressure on the accelerator pedal.

I took it to Tesla Tottenham a couple of weeks ago, and they said:
- They didn’t think the noise was excessive.
- They changed the transmission fluid (oil) as it looked worn.
- They inspected the battery perimeter seal and claimed it wasn’t an issue.
- Compared sound recordings to known good/bad cabin sounds, concluding it wasn’t deemed a problem.
From what I’ve read, potential culprits could be the battery perimeter seal or the ground strap. Has anyone else experienced this and found a resolution?
Any advice would be massively appreciated—I genuinely love this car, but I can’t live with this issue anymore.

I(20F) met my friend (20F) just 20 days ago I met her true College we're on the same class however I'm only taking two of the classes same ask her because I am taking classes from the year before. She's a truly a kind heart to warm person I haven't got any long-lasting France in college because I am an introvert she also had another friend(20F) and being became a group all of us are the same age from the same class and I also met her boyfriend(20M).
They have been dating for a year now and he has asked her to wear a promise ring 8 months ago their relationship seems serious however I don't think her boyfriend is as enthusiastic about going fast into the relationship. Not only that but also their parents are against them. They are both from different cities than us so they don't live with their parents but they live in dorm rooms.
For context we are from Turkey so not taking parents approval before marriage is a huge taboo and ruled likely result in permanent disowning of the couple from their families. She has not proposed to her but today she told me that she bought two and a tray for the engagement ceremony and once me, our mutual friend and her boyfriend's friend to the ceremony again he doesn't know anything about this he didn't even propose or ask for her hand in marriage from her parents so this is totally legitimate in our culture.
She seems to like her family a lot but disagrees with them on this matter and wants to go her own way as you can see as I didn't mention anyone else being in this engagement nobody else is invited not her family not her other friends not her cousins and neither is his family friends except for one of course nor any of his relatives invited to the ceremony.
I don't know what to tell her she seems so excited and so happy but this is a path that will lead to disaster. Her parents fund her education and I am afraid that they will cut their ties with her both emotionally and materialistically and I'm also afraid that her boyfriend would reject her. She called me and our mutual friend quote on quote "her bridesmaids" I don't want to tell her that I don't want to be her bridesmaid and that I don't approve of her decision and don't want to be a part of any of it however I think that if I don't say anything she will go along with it and destroy what's her family, educational and romantic life.
I need advice asap she plans on making the engagement this month and there's planning to do so I cant try to lie myself out of the situation.
