I’m an IT contractor who works for a big company through a recruiting agency. I’m curious about the typical fee they charge for these positions.
My renewal is coming up, and I’m feeling that 50% seems like a bit of a markup (I get 2/3 of what the employer is billed for my hours). Is it common to negotiate when the client is extending my contract? I’ve always been a full-time employee, so this is a new experience for me.

2025.01.20 21:48 adotador Need other opinions on my "diagnosis" before attempting to fix my Vita
So 2 days ago i made a post on here about how my power and home button were not working and turns out i was semi wrong so i want to hear yalls opinion about my conclusion. The problems ocurring are the following: - Home button not working - Start button not working - Cannot shut off Vita (normal or forced) via the power button but can check battery level and turn it on - Randomly opens the Brightness/wifi menu that you need to hold the home button to open even tho the button itself does not work. - Should mention that the buttons feel OK to the touch, they arent stuck or anything like that. - Every other button, both joysticks, screen and the console itself and working fine
I do not know much about the vita but with what ive gathered my guess is that the power button and the start button are both OK and the problems might be originating from a stuck home button inside the VITA and i think that the power / start buttons arent working since the vita is only registring a continuous home button press. What leads me to believe this are the random appearences of the Brightness/wifi menu and the fact the power button can turn on the console and check the battery.
As i said before this is only a guess and i would appreciate if anyone could give a different one or just comment on the one i made. Really want to make sure i atleast know what area to inspect while inside the vita to avoid screwing up something. (Sorry for any grammaspelling mistakes, english is not my first language)

I (25F) left a well paying job in 2024 as I wanted to pursue something more fulfilling. I had thought on it for a year but I didn’t know what the “something more fulfilling was”. So I eventually just decided to leave and hope I figured it out. I have no qualifications, I dropped out of school when I was 15.
I think because I have had a successful career up til this point, I’m highly focused on achieving the most perfect thing like my absolute end goal. But I don’t know what that is. I have hobbies, interests, passions. But none are exactly the way I want to spend the rest of my life. After wasting a year doing a shitty job to still make money while trying to find a new path, I eventually decided I should instead of trying to find the most greatest path, to just pursue the goodest path I can at the moment. And maybe that should include some type of studying considering how hard it is to find ANY sort of employment in Melbourne atm.
For me, I’m a little bit interested in the human body, I like helping people, and I don’t want to commit to a lot of studying up front considering I was horrible at studying during high school.
Massage therapy? Cool! I’ll do that. 1 year of study, the cert 4 is under $1,000 meaning I can afford it, BUT the cert 4 really only teaches relaxation techniques and wouldn’t really get me anywhere.
So that has then lead me to thinking I should do the diploma, it means I can help people in pain, people can claim their private health with my services, and I’d be more employable, also only a year of study. The ONLY thing is, this course would cost me ~$13,00. I can’t afford that. I’m in Australia where we have a loan system that could cover that. But that immediately adds 20%.
Now I’m thinking. Do I want to be in that amount of debt for something that I’m not even 100% sure on? Something that I was just going to be using as a stepping stone? I feel so lost.
Sure it’s not a $70k debt like a lawyer or a nurse, but roughly, what, $16k debt for something that I ALSO don’t want to do forever. Am I stupid?
I’m trying to justify as I like the health field, I also enjoy holistic health, that this could just be the first step and will always be valuable to me??

My birthday is coming up and this is one of the only LEGO themes that I’m actually a fan of and it’s so hard to decide between these two. I love the room presence of Barad Dur and how sauron’s eye lights up and moves around but rivendell also looks gorgeous and has the entire fellowship of minifigures. Hi everyone, I've been through a few mattresses now and still am having back pain. I bought a Beautyrest Br800 plush pillowtop which doesn't seem very plush at all. I know there's a break in period but I just can't see how this mattress will ever be considered plush, it's so firm for a plush. Even with a topper it still hurts. Is there a plush foam mattress out there that would be better for me? I don't like memory foam because of how it feels and the harsh chemical smell. If it helps, I had an old Beautyrest plush Vinnings that I loooved but it's been discontinued.

Hello I am just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what did it feel like, how long did the pain last? I am currently 18 weeks and have spent the day in hospital being monitored for severe stomach pains, however they refused to scan me to check on my fibroids. They just made the assumption that the pain was caused by “degeneration” based on a quick feel of my stomach which is currently swollen and rock hard. The unknown is making me anxious I don’t have much faith in the NHS system 🙁
