I am so upset... the other day I was subbing for art, and had a third grade class. One of the little girls came up to me very upset because a little boy told her "go away you stupid monkey," she is mixed. I was floored. I contemplated calling the office, but decided to just tell the teacher instead. When I told her, she said.... "well, STUPID isn't really a bad word, so I can't do anything." I said, I don't care if he said stupid, he called her a freaking MONKEY! That is absolutely racist and unacceptable." The teacher seemed like she could cate less about it and didn't even confront the child. I wish I would have called the office. I know it comes from the parents, but some kids are just complete assholes. I am just sick that she didn't seem to think it was a big deal. Wtf is wrong with people?! I have not been able to get this off of my mind.

Hello! Recent joiner. I’m interested in learning the clarinet. Historically, I’ve played the piano, organ, trombone, French horn, and dabbled in the flute and violin. My parents and sister all played the clarinet (my dad and sister played in college).
Does anyone know the best place to find where an adult can take lessons? Guitar Center is the only thing that pops up in my google searches. Has anyone had any luck with GC? Or are there other shops/suggestions people may have?
I’m based in a Midwest American city if that helps.

I (23F) currently am a university student pursuing social work (a career change from marketing) but I’ve realized that I’m not connecting with the content and don’t know if it’s for me anymore.
I recently found out about the youth mobility visa and it has always been my dream to live in Europe. I have quite a bit of money saved up, and I have family who are able to help support the journey as well.
The only problem is I’m in a relationship, and if I do this he agreed that it is over between us. He would much prefer I stick with school and find success that way. Which is completely valid, but still upsetting.
I guess I’m stuck on what I should do .. I love him and I’m sure I would enjoy being a social worker to some capacity, but I can’t help but think “what if?” Any advice is appreciated <3

2025.01.23 03:25 MeteoXavier NES Graphical Glitches Patches/Fixes?
I get that for most NES players, the common graphics glitches that come with many NES games is simply part of the experience and charm of the system. You know the ones I mean: discoloration at the extreme right of the screen for many games like Mario 3 and the Mega Man games, effects and things that erase parts of sprites or even tiles during gameplay, flickers for some things, explosion-type effects that cause any combination of the aforementioned, etc. I respect it's part of the 8-bit gaming experience, but that charm and stuff doesn't carry over for me - 35 years later, I find those things in NES games distracting and sometimes obstructing.
Googling had not really helped me on this specific subject, so I'd like to ask the Reddit group: has anyone ever done any emulation patches or game ROM patches that actually fix these glitches? I imagine it probably has to be the kind of thing that has to be done game-by-game, but if any of these rom patches exist, where might I find them?
