When I started this series I was still learning kitbasing and using vanilla HF proportions which I don’t use anymore because they’re to cartoony. I developed insomnia and anxiety about 10 yrs ago .. for a long time I resisted the urge to take anything but eventually I caved .. I was good at not taking it every night for a very long time but about 5 yrs ago I had a headache that lasted for 5 months, I was depressed and in chronic pain and started taking sleeping pills every night .. since then I have lost 40 pounds and begun exercising a lot . I have tried stopping my pills several times but every time I panicked and started taking them again ..I’ve been told that a long term side effect of the pills (unisom/Doxylamine succinate) is Alzheimer’s but then also told this isn’t true (both by doctors) .. I really wanted to see how my sleep is now that I’ve gotten much healthier so after months of tapering I finally stopped a week ago .. on one hand I’m very proud of myself but on the other I still feel paranoid for some reason and kinda meh about it all.. I thought I’d be more excited ?! It’s been a goal of mine for years !! My sleep meanwhile has been mixed , some nights are decent some terrible .. I read it can take weeks for my sleep cycle to really calibrate back to where it would be without the pills .. I feel like i should be proud of myself but instead I’m slightly dwelling on feeling like I was stupid to have started ever taking them everyday in the first place ..

Ok so I need some legal advice and while I’ve reached out to a few organizations the response time is gonna be a few weeks and I need some guidance sooner than that. I’m in California btw.
So here goes:
Back in 2019 my grandma made a will. She left her home to me and her life insurance would be split between my cousin and myself. She expressly left my uncle $100 so he wouldn’t have much room to challenge her will/living trust. He’s threatened violence to her in the past and their relationship has been rocky. She supported him most of his life and she didn’t wanna do it in death.
Now in 2020 my gma said her house was too much for her and asked if I wanted to move in. She moved into an apartment and my (soon to be ex) wife and I moved in. I’ve been continuously residing in the home since 2020. I have been paying the mortgage here. There was no formal rental agreement between my grandmother and I.
Now around late 2020 early 2021 my grandma get diagnosed with Alzheimer’s but she’s in the early stages at this point so she still able to be on her own. I’m spending time caretaking for her because it’s still Covid and pre vaccine. I’m taking her to Dr’s appointment, getting her groceries and making sure her rent is paid. Shes doing ok for a bit.
However her Alzheimer’s progresses and it’s getting to the point she can’t live on her own. I offer to have her live with me. She’s wildly independent so she’s not really going for it. My uncle however makes that decision for her and tells her landlord she’s moving in with him and gave him notice. He moves my grandmother out of her home and into his. Seeing as how he’s been LARGELY absent from her care this seems strange.
I was in the process of getting thing set up to be her representative payee for ss benefits so I took the letters I had gotten from her drs forwarded them to her attorney and let him know my grandma wasn’t capable of managing her affairs.
My uncle took my grandma to her attorney’s office shortly after and had himself added to the title of her home and the will changed. My grandma tells me she wasn’t fully aware of what she was signing but the attorney and my uncle told her it was ok so she signed.
After my uncle got what he wanted he stopped caring for my grandma. He would leave her in her room, yell at her, ect. A few weeks after the signing of everything he threw her out on the streets. Literally dumped her belongs on the curb and stated that he washed his hands of her. He also helped himself to her credit card and checking account.
I get my grandma’s stuff take some to my home take some stuff to my moms. We get my grandma situated at my mom’s place. Now my cousin and I are splitting caring for my grandma because my mother is very disabled and needs caretaking herself.
My uncle had made himself POA but isn’t proving care, housing, or anything for my grandmother.
The situation is made worse because my uncle and mother are neighbors. He has every opportunity to help out with her care and chooses not to. He got what he wanted and he’s waiting for her to die. My grandma has been found wandering at night and the neighbors try to bring her to his place and he ignores them and says it my mom’s problem not his. We want to get her into a nursing home but he refuses to speak to any of us.
My main concerns here are:
How to get him removed as power of attorney. I’ve been told conservatorship may be the way to go but I’m not sure what that entails.
Also how do I go about undoing the changes made to her will? My grandma doesn’t remember what changes were made but when we’ve (both her and I together) have reached out to her attorney he says he not comfortable making any more changes to her will and that we need to get a copy from my uncle. When we’ve told him that my uncle isn’t speaking to me, my mother or grandmother he again says that he isn’t comfortable with giving her a copy and that we should get it from my uncle.
Something about that feels unethical.
Also I forgot to mention I’ve made serval complaints to APS but haven’t really received any follow up from them. I called when she mentions how he would scream at her and leave her in her room and also when he put her out in the streets.
Any help of advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time
