2025.01.24 19:33 InNWDallas [discussion] Question: Alternative to dry instant coffee grounds for lightfast mottled effect?
I’ve been sprinkling dry instant coffee grounds directly from the jar onto wet paper, creating a mottled look with defined dark spots that diffuse organically into the surrounding space. It's an attractive effect (and sometimes it looks like a flour tortilla heated on the griddle). Interesting for collage.
But is there an alternative to dry instant coffee grounds that delivers the same effect without the acidity and eventual fading? I’ve ruled out mica powder for lack of solubility. Dye powder? Other?

My code, in golang.
As I expected from the problem text, my simple "walk the entire space" approach that worked well for parts 1 and 2 completely floundered on part 3. Basically, in parts 1 and 2 I walked around a state space made of of (X, Y, carrying) where "carrying" was a bit set naming what plants I was carrying until I found myself at a spot where I'd been before carrying the complement of what I'd had before; at that point I computed the total distance to combine both routes and then took the minimum.
Anyway, as mentioned this didn't work for part 3 at all.
My next approach was to first compute the distances between each plant location, so that I have a graph of a few hundred nodes (one for each plant, plus the start) and then apply regular Djikstra to it (remembering that my state space is still a combination of (location, carrying) so it's kind of huge). That failed to find an answer even running overnight.
Eventually I tried an approach that relied on a function that given a plant location to end up at and a set of plants to collect along the way, recursively found the shortest distance to do that. This finally works, but only after 45 seconds.
I'm used to the "correct" approach to problems like this (or advent of code) having solutions that finish in under two seconds, often in under 100 ms.
Is there an approach I'm missing?

Hey there, I am interested to hear what kind of sex tracking app you use. I am not thinking of a fitness tracker but instead some kind of calendar, where events are noted down. I am using one, but I am not that happy with it. Necessary functions: - position selection to give nice statistics over time - favourite position or wishlist - orgasm counter - menstruation calendar - integration with app from partner to track and plan events
I am using Corason (iOS) but the devs abandoned it and it is not good at the last point (integration with partner).
Is this a thing? What do you use?

Just put a plastic panel where the screen would be and give it to me for $100 - $150 less. I have no interest in playing anywhere besides my couch. I cannot be alone in this thought.
